Abstract

The Blended Project-Based Learning (BPjBL) model plays a crucial role in enhancing argumentative writing skills. To implement this model, it is essential to conduct a needs analysis with lecturers. It helps identify their specific requirements and preferences in developing and applying the model.The study aimed to explore lecturers' need for the necessity aspect of the BPjBL model in teaching argumentative writing. The design of the research was quantitative by using a survey. The respondents of the research were 15 lecturers from various universities in Indonesia. They have been chosen using a purposive sampling technique. The criteria were the lecturers who had taught argumentative writing at the university.  The data was collected through a questionnaire. The questionnaire was validated by two experts, and the result was very valid. The reliability of the questionnaire was excellent, with a mean score of 0.964. The study was analyzed by using descriptive analysis statistics using SPSS 38. From this study, it was found that the lecturer highly needed the aspects of argumentative writing reason, argumentative writing topic, argumentative writing skill, language ability, language structure, language use, argumentative writing context, and teaching model with a mean score of 3.33. The findings showed that lecturers are highly needed for the argumentative writing aspect and teaching models such as blended learning and project-based learning.

Abstract

English is a compulsory subject studied in every study program. English is usually learned in the first and second semesters. This research aims to make English learning more enjoyable. This type of research is descriptive analysis. The instrument used is a questionnaire. The students involved in this research were 28 people from the digital business study program. This study found the correct type of project-based learning for students is role-playing by imitating conversations in English from a short video that is rich in moral values played by students and then made into a video. The second finding is that the results of the questionnaire as a research instrument concluded that the task of project learning was beneficial for them in understanding English learning.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of English textbooks for economics in aligning with the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, which integrates technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge to enhance language learning. Descriptive qualitative was applied in this study. The analysis focused on four English textbooks: Career Path: Banking, Career Path: Business English, General English Material for Economic Students, and English for Islamic Banking. The evaluation revealed several limitations in these textbooks, such as inadequate alignment with economic content, lack of clear target audience and instructional objectives, insufficient technology integration, and minimal opportunities for interactive and dynamic learning experiences. These deficiencies were found to delay the development of essential language skills, including grammar, pronunciation, and communication, which are crucial for academic and professional success in the field of economics and banking. Furthermore, the analysis highlighted the absence of diverse activities that connect language skills with real-world applications, limiting the students' ability to effectively apply their knowledge in relevant scenarios. The textbooks also lacked comprehensive instructional support for listening and writing skills, critical thinking, and digital literacy, which are vital components of a modern, technology-enhanced learning environment. The study suggests that a more tailored approach, incorporating the TPACK framework, is necessary to address these gaps. By fostering interactive and immersive learning experiences, future textbooks can better meet the specific needs of economics students, promote active participation, and enhance both linguistic competence and digital literacy skills in preparation for global economic challenges.

Abstract

Current Learning systems have enabled students to construct their knowledge by themselves. However, using various LMS will cause different learning situations and experiences for students in learning. This study investigates the effectiveness of Moodle-based learning activities in fostering self-regulated learning (SRL) among undergraduate students. The research was conducted over 8 weeks with 100 participants, employing a mixed-methods approach that included pre-and post-surveys, learning analytics, and qualitative data from focus groups and interviews. The findings reveal significant improvements in key SRL components: goal setting, self-monitoring, self-evaluation, and time management. Quantitative data from the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) showed statistically significant gains across all SRL dimensions (p < 0.01). Learning analytics indicated that student engagement increased, reflected in doubled login frequency, a 33.3% rise in task completion rates, and a 66.7% increase in time spent on learning tasks. Qualitative data supported these results, highlighting the positive impact of Moodle’s tools on students' autonomy, motivation, and reflective learning practices. The study concludes that Moodle-based activities can effectively promote SRL by providing structured, interactive, and reflective learning experiences. Recommendations are made for educators to integrate diverse Moodle activities that target different SRL components and for institutions to provide continuous support and infrastructure improvements.

Abstract

Students need to comprehend and become proficient in the art of writing scientific articles in order to be able to generate quality works in the form of scientific articles that they have written themselves (Matarese, 2013). Background of the research, there are problems:(1) Students have trouble coming up with ideas for scientific articles. (2) Students have trouble putting the right words together. (3) Main ideas that don't match up with the best topics. The aim of this research is need analysis of the model for writing scientific articles. The research method is both descriptive and qualitative. It involves doing preliminary research, such as a needs and context analysis, a review of the literature, and a survey of students. The people who were studied Putera Batam University students in the odd semester of 2021/2022 in state administration and english literature. The study's results show that students and teachers need the model to learn how to write scientific articles that include reading references, article reviews, observations, information and creative ideas, case studies, article manuscripts, and activated publication. The research results show that students and professors need the model to be developed based on the results of tohe needs analysis. This is because the model can help students solve their problems and get them more interested in learning by making learning fun.
