Abstract

This study aims to explain the impact of socio-economic transformation, local political dynamics, and external pressures on the practice of sasi laut in Noloth Village. Data obtained using in-depth interview techniques, literature studies, and observations. The analysis and discussion is done descriptively. The results showed that there were three main things that influenced the practice of sasi laut, namely: the integration of valuable fishery products such as lola, sea cucumbers, and lobsters into the market system had changed the institution of sasi laut from the traditional system to the auction mechanism to the capital owners. While the sustainability of valuable coastal resources is threatened under transfer rights to capital owners who have unlimited resource use motives. On the other hand, sasi laut is under local political pressure between the village elite to take economic benefits. In the end, the practice of sasi laut in Noloth Village has experienced a shift in values from cultural contexts to economic reasoning through the integration of fisheries commodities into the market system. The impact of the transformation of sasi laut practices into its own discourse is related to two fundamental questions of indigenous community-based resource management, namely strengthening traditions and conservation of coastal resources.

Abstract

Regional developments in Karawang Regency, West Java have resulted in the marginalization of suburban communities. This marginalization occurs through the process of land grabbing or massive expropriation of land owned by suburban communities, which are none other than village communities that have occupied their lands for a long time. This article aims to contribute to two things. The first is to present an empirical description of the land grabbing process in suburban communities based on a case study in Telukjambe Barat, Karawang Regency, West Java. The second is to present a theoretical discussion to explain this land grabbing phenomenon by referring to the theoretical framework of David Harvey and S.M.P. Tjondronegoro. The research method used in this case study includes primary data obtained from in-depth observations and interviews with informants and is supported by secondary data derived from various research results and relevant documents. The results show that the expansion of urban capitalism in Telukjambe Barat is a spatial planning activity that is more directed at regional development with the presence of corporate power that has controlled space, conquered suburban community ownership, and has full power over space through land grabbing practices. The phenomenon of land grabbing in Telukjambe Barat was theoretically reinforced by S.M.P Tjondronegoro through the concept of “agrarian policy of agrarian denial” and David Harvey through the concept of accumulation by disposition.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the digital transformation of changing rural economy towards a digital society. Qualitative research methods were used, including 50 participants and in-depth interview informants, with participatory observation, policy analysis, and three series of focus group discussions both in person and online. The study found that internet intervention significantly impacts collective behaviour and improves MSMEs development. Referring to the continuum theory of Gemeinschaft-Gesellschaft, the study showed that these changes result in the formation of a ‘Neue Gemeinschaft’. Rural MSMEs are entering a new era due to the adoption of digital technology by businesses that support and exhibit characteristics such as the intensity of the use of internet networks, the ability to conduct digital transactions, and the preservation of village social values. Theoretically and empirically, the research indicates that digital transformation is driven by a change in collective behaviour around technology use, followed by inclusive rural digital economy.

Abstract

A number of studies stated that nanotechnology is predicted to encourage the third wave of research diffusion, development, and advancement in agricultural and food sectors, as an integrated part of the nanotechnology revolution in various fields. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of nanotechnology knowledge, trust, and communication media on perceived risk and willingness to buy food nanotechnology. The data came from an online questionnaire with 302 people collected by an online survey, and the research used a purposive sampling method, and structural equation modeling was used for data analysis. Based on the result of the research on three variables (nanotechnology knowledge, trust, and communication media), it is known that communication media and trust had significant effects on risk perception; however, nanotechnology knowledge had no significant effect. Furthermore, perceived risk had a significant effect on willingness to buy food nanotechnology. The sequence from the largest to the smallest of willingness to buy is functional food with a health benefit, food packaging, and food additive to improved product quality. Functional food has been chosen because there is an additional health benefit they will get. Meanwhile, food packaging was considered less risky as it did not directly contact with the product and was not digested by the body. Food additives to improve product quality was the lowest since the respondents felt they did not get any benefits from the application.

Abstract

IPB University has declared as a Biodiversity Campus since 2011. This declaration was carried out considering the high biodiversity at the IPB University Campus. One of the causes of the high campus biodiversity is the uniqueness of the campus landscape and the maintained proportion between the built and open-green areas. The existence of lakes, forests, arboretums, plantations, and three rivers that cross the campus area has contributed to the high diversity of habitats and consequently to the biodiversity. At least 22 species of mammals, 99 species of birds, 12 species of amphibians, 38 species of reptiles, 128 species of butterflies, 173 species of woody-plants, 40 species of bamboos and 127 species of medicinal plats have been recorded inhabiting the 257 ha of the campus area. The biodiversity has significant role as objects for research of the students, lecturers, researchers as well as for tourism such as for bird watching, picture hunting, outbond and other recreational activities. Therefore the campus functions for education and for tourism, thus ecoedutourism for academic community as well as community around the campus. To maintain the biodiversity, IPB University issued several policy innovations. The first policy innovation is monitoring of population and distribution of biodiversity on a regular basis. Second, habitat management for biodiversity. Third, on-site and offsite socialization to campus and offcampus communities. Fourth, conserving the habitats of the flora and fauna. Fifth, rare tree planting. Sixth, the movement to plant fruit trees by each faculty. Seventh, conservation of biopharmaceutical medicinal plants. Eighth, building a garden for food sovereignty. Ninth, conducting research on campus biodiversity. All of these policies involve the academic community, experts, alumni and the community around the campus.

Abstract

Title : The Institutional Integration of Marine Conservation Area Management in Raja Ampat Regency Through Institutional Action Level AnalysisThe management of conservation areas is often influenced by the misalignment of policies between the central government, provincial government, and regional government, as well as the level of compliance with the implementation of these policies. This study aims to examine the institutional integration in the management of regional marine conservasion areas through an analysis of three institutional levels: constitutional, collective and operational. A qualitative method with a policy analysis and descriptive analysis approach was employed. The research was conducted in the villages of Arborek, Yenbuba, and Sawinggrai, Raja Ampat Regency, in October 2022. Data were collected through interviews, observations, focus group discussions, and document analysis. The findings show that institutional integration in the management of marine conservation areas in Raja Ampat Regency has been established. At the constitutional level, institutional integration is reflected in the alignment of regulations concerning the authorities responsible for drafting zoning plans and managing marine conservation areas, as well as the recognition of indigenous people’s authority. At the collective level, institutional integration is manifested in the alignment of cross-sectoral objectives, collaboration among stakeholders, and the involvement of indigenous communities. At the operational level, institutional integration is evident in the consistency of understanding regarding the boundaries of marine conservation area, the enforcement of conservation regulations, and the imposition of sanctions. Policy recommendations that could strengthen institutional integration in the management of marine conservation area in Raja Ampat include: 1) adjusting policies regarding management authority between the central, provincial, and regionak governments; 2) enhancing the institutional capacity of the Maya Indigenous Council by providing financial support, skills, or expertise to support marine conservation programs; 3) adjusting the area of the conservation between the central government, the West Papua Provincial Government and the Raja Ampat Regency government; and 4) marking boundaries in the marine conservation zones.

Abstract

Indonesia’s construction sector significantly contributes to national economic growth but also poses environmental challenges due to high carbon emissions. This study explores how PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) can develop a sustained competitive advantage through decarbonization strategies. Employing an exploratory qualitative approach, the research integrates the Flourishing Business Model Canvas (FBMC) to assess WIKA’s current business model, the Sustainability Balanced Scorecard (SBSC) to evaluate its sustainability strategy, and the Natural Resource-Based View (NRBV) with Dynamic Capabilities (DC) to recommend future strategies. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with board members and analysis of annual and sustainability reports. Findings reveal WIKA’s commitment to ESG implementation, yet highlight gaps in carbon performance and strategic alignment. The study proposes a roadmap emphasizing emission efficiency, circular innovation, and ESG-driven leadership as pillars of long-term competitiveness in green construction. The insights contribute to practical and academic discourse on sustainable transformation in state-owned enterprises.

Abstract

Along with the issues of economy growth and social complexities, potency of overlap and sectoral ignorance in coastal resources use tend to increase. This condition needs to be synergized so as the use of coastal resources can maintain the carrying capacity as well as contribute to social economy. This study aims at identifying and mapping stakeholder as well as analyzing their need in the future in regard with coastal resources management of Gorontalo City. Primary and secondary data were collected respectively from FGD and various documents and analyzed by using stakeholder analysis method. There were 26 stakeholder identified involved in coastal resources use in Gorontalo City. The stakeholder mapping showed five stakeholder as subject (high interest but low influence), twelve stash key player (high influence and high interest), seven stakeholder as setter context (high influence but low interest) and two belong to crowd (low interest and low influence). The stakeholder need analysis found that there is still gap in coordination mechanism among stakeholder. Also the result of working together to address common problem is also not yet optimum. There is a need to improve communication channel so as to build awareness and participation in coastal management issues of Gorontalo City
