Abstract

Teacher motivation is a significant barrier for improving educational quality, especially in rural and resource-limited institutions. This study examines the impact of principals' managerial competence—executed through the functions of planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling (POAC)—on improving teacher work motivation in elementary schools. Data were gathered using a qualitative methodology through in-depth interviews, observations, and recording at five public elementary schools in Gugus III Ceding Ayu, Aceh Tamiang, Indonesia. The results indicate that adaptive managerial methods, defined by participatory planning, supportive supervision, transparent communication, and context-sensitive leadership, substantially enhance teachers' enthusiasm, commitment, consistency, and teamwork. Nonetheless, challenges persist about the uniformity of follow-up oversight and the fair allocation of responsibilities. This study theoretically extends the contextual application of the POAC framework in rural educational environments and practically provides a robust model of adaptive school management to enhance teacher involvement in underprivileged areas.

Abstract

This study examines the methods employed by school principals to promote constructive discipline via the restitution triangle in public elementary schools within the Tangse District of Pidie Regency. Data were acquired through observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis involving principals, teachers, students, and parents, utilizing a qualitative field study approach. The results demonstrate that the execution of the restitution triangle is still in a nascent and disjointed phase. Principals have commenced restorative procedures via reflective discussion and coaching; however, these initiatives lack consistency and have not yet been properly assimilated by teachers. Conventional punitive disciplinary methods prevail, indicating a restricted comprehension of restorative ideas. Notwithstanding these limitations, initial beneficial outcomes were observed, such as increased timeliness, heightened professional accountability, and improved communication among educators. Significant obstacles are inadequate professional development, ineffective supervisory systems, and a school culture that lacks comprehensive alignment with restorative principles. The study illustrates that the restitution triangle serves as an effective and humane framework for enhancing positive discipline in elementary schools, contingent upon ongoing leadership commitment, systematic capacity development, and a collaborative school culture

Abstract

Parental involvement is crucial to improve the quality of learning at the primary school level, yet it is often restricted and unequal. This study investigates the tactics used by school administrators to increase family participation in the learning process, assesses the efficiency of various leadership strategies in establishing school-parent synergy, and analyses the challenges associated with increasing parental involvement. Data were obtained from elementary schools in Cluster 4, Pidie Regency, using a qualitative field study design that included observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The data show that administrators have used a variety of tactics, including routine communication, family involvement in school events, and the availability of collaboration spaces. These methods are positive, but they have not yet resulted in optimal and equitable parental participation. The effectiveness of leadership methods in developing synergy between schools and parents is still in its early stages, with modest impact on long-term parental support and student learning outcomes. Low parental awareness, work-related time restrictions, a lack of knowledge of parental obligations, and poor two-way communication are all significant barriers. The study finds that increasing parental involvement necessitates more tailored, consistent, and educational leadership tactics. The findings add to the conversation about educational leadership by emphasizing the significance of contextualized principal tactics in developing school-parent partnerships at the primary level

Abstract

Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) is a learning approach that can help teachers relate learning materials with students real-world situations and encourage them to make connections between their knowledge by the application in their life as members of the family and society. Mathematical connection ability includes finding the relationships between mathematics and its topics, mathematics and other subjects, and mathematics and daily life or the real world. The purposes of this study were (1) to know the difference in students mathematical connection ability before and after using CTL, (2) to know the difference in mathematical connection ability between male and female students, and (3) to know the effect of CTL on mathematical connection ability of VIII grade students of Junior High School in terms of gender. This study adopted a factorial design, a modified version of true experimental design. The subjects of the study were 34 students of class VIII-4 of SMP Negeri 3 Banda Aceh as experimental class without control class. The instrument of data collection was mathematical connection test. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The finding of the study shows that (1) there was a difference in students mathematical connection ability before and after using CTL, (2) there was no difference in mathematical connection ability between male and female students, and (3) there was a learning effect of CTL on mathematical connection ability of VIII grade students of Junior High School in terms of gender. The implications of this study demonstrate that learning mathematics with CTL approach was one of the efforts of teachers in teaching and learning activities in particular mathematics courses to improve male and female students' connection ability.

Abstract

General Background: Continuing professional development is essential for strengthening teacher competence and sustaining educational quality in early childhood education. Specific Background: In Aceh Tamiang District, many kindergarten teachers still face limitations in early childhood learning methods, training access, and relevant professional development opportunities. Knowledge Gap: Empirical research remains limited on how a school-based training model is implemented for continuing professional development among kindergarten teachers in this local context. Aims: This study aimed to analyze the implementation of a school-based training model for the continuing professional development of kindergarten teachers in Aceh Tamiang District. Results: Using a qualitative case study involving 26 teachers, with data collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and focus group discussion, the study found that implementation was carried out systematically through planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. The process was supported by school-based management, teacher discipline, democratic principal leadership, educator commitment, professionalism, and adequate facilities. The study also identified obstacles, including limited understanding of school-based management among some education personnel, external policy intervention in school decision-making, limited mastery of teaching materials and teaching techniques, and uneven participation in evaluation meetings. Novelty: The study specifically examines school-based training and continuing professional development for kindergarten teachers in Aceh Tamiang by emphasizing local conditions, actual teacher needs, and institutional support. Implications: The findings indicate that school-based training can serve as a contextual and sustainable strategy for teacher professionalism when supported by participatory leadership, adequate resources, and stronger teacher capacity in learning management Highlights • Systematic stages covered program design, execution, and review.• Democratic leadership, staff discipline, and educator commitment sustained implementation.• Constraints involved managerial understanding, external policy pressure, teaching mastery, and meeting participation. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the model of transformational leadership practiced by the principal in building teacher commitment at UPTD SMP Negeri 3 Peusangan. Transformational leadership is a leadership approach that emphasizes moral influence, inspirational motivation, individualized consideration, and intellectual stimulation to create positive and sustainable change. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design, with data collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research subjects included vice principals in charge of student affairs and curriculum, teachers, school operators, and the school committee. The findings reveal that all four dimensions of transformational leadership were effectively implemented. Idealized influence was demonstrated through the principal's exemplary behavior and moral integrity; inspirational motivation was reflected through reflective communication and open appreciation; individualized consideration was realized through support for teachers' personal needs and professional development; and intellectual stimulation was evident in the encouragement of innovative teaching practices through training, facilities, and recognition of creative ideas. These leadership practices fostered teacher commitment in affective, continuance, and normative dimensions within a participatory, humanistic, and reflective work environment. The study indicates that transformational leadership can serve as a key strategy to strengthen teacher loyalty, engagement, and motivation in carrying out educational responsibilities sustainably
