Abstract

Syntactic studies in modern linguistics have undergone significant development, particularly in their application to mass media as a means of public communication. However, various spelling errors are still found in news writing, reflecting a lack of adherence to the rules of the Indonesian language as outlined in the General Guidelines for Indonesian Spelling (PUEBI). This article aims to analyze spelling errors in mass media news and examine their implications for Indonesian syntax. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study identifies common types of spelling errors, such as the use of capital letters, writing of loanwords, and punctuation. The results of the analysis show that spelling errors in mass media can affect syntactic structure and readers' understanding of the information conveyed. Therefore, it is essential for writers and editors in the media to understand and apply correct spelling rules in order to maintain language quality in public communication.

Abstract

Pasir Padi Beach is a beach that has enormous potential to attract both domestic and foreign tourists. However, this potential is not matched by inadequate beach conditions, instead various problems are encountered, one of which is the hot and barren beach conditions. One effort to overcome this problem is by planting ketapang and kemunting trees on the coast. Apart from rehabilitating land in coastal areas, this effort also aims to preserve environmental greenery so that it is maintained, usually it is also often used as a shade plant, especially ketapang trees. Planting activities include planting planning, planting preparation and planting. Planting planning includes: Plans for determining the location, the required number of seeds, and how to arrange the timing. The results achieved from the ketapang and kemunting tree planting program activities are to prevent coastal erosion, reduce land aridity, fertilize the soil, and provide shade for the community, tourists or visitors to Pasir Padi beach.

Abstract

The tourism sector plays a significant role in the Indonesian economy, both in terms of added value, foreign exchange earnings, and as a job creator. The panel data linear regression method is used to determine the effect of the tourism sector on labor absorption using panel data for 10 years of time series data and 41 cross-sectional data from districts/cities in three provinces in Indonesia. This quantitative research method using secondary data shows that cultural, ethnic, and linguistic diversity is a great potential in tourism development, while the creative economy sector has the potential to be a locomotive for increasing labor absorption. However, on the other hand, tourism is also one of the sectors most vulnerable to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the challenges faced by elementary school students in understanding number concepts. The approach used is a qualitative method with a case study design. Case studies were chosen because they provide the researcher with an opportunity to explore in-depth the specific difficulties experienced by students, both in terms of concept understanding, basic principles, and verbal abilities. Focusing on one context allows for the acquisition of richer and more meaningful data regarding the challenges in learning number addition. Data collection was conducted through reviewing several journal articles, analyzing the issues, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that students often face obstacles in understanding number concepts, the principles of number addition, and in expressing their understanding verbally. Several contributing factors include a lack of precision when solving problems, failure to check answers, incorrect understanding of number formulas, inability to understand the intent of the questions, and difficulty in representing numbers visually. These findings can be used by classroom teachers as a reference to identify and address problems experienced by students. This contextual information is highly valuable in designing more effective teaching strategies to help students overcome difficulties with number concepts.

Abstract

Forecasting is a common thing to capture events in future based on previous information. However, some classical time-series methods, including moving average (MA), autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA), seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average (SARIMA), and simple exponential smoothing (SES), have limitations in predicting nonlinear time-series data. Therefore, this paper aims to utilize the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) model, a combination of the fuzzy inference system (FIS) and neural network architecture to forecast a nonlinear rainfall problem. This model can capture the non-linear data, adaptation capability, and speedy learning capacity. We used the data consisting of temperature (ºC), humidity (%), and wind speed (km/hour) as input variables and rainfall (millimeter) as an output variable at two stations and one rain post in Aceh Besar District, from January 2009 to December 2019. The results demonstrated that ANFIS with generalized Bell (gBell) membership function on epoch 10 can successfully conduct rainfall forecasting in Aceh Besar District with the best-predicted value. The mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of the prediction at the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (MCGA) Station or Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi dan Geofisika (BMKG) Indrapuri is 6.73% for 80% of the training dataset and 20% of the testing dataset.
