Abstract

A traffic accident is an unexpected and inadvertent road event involving a vehicle with or without other road users that results in human injuries and possibly property damage. This study identifies and analyses the characteristics of Indonesian and Malaysian road traffic incidents. The method used was the identification of crash data coordinates and the Equivalent Accident Number (EAN) score per road segment. Accident characteristics are based on the type of road traffic accident, and collision is the most common type of accident. Speed data of two vehicles, cars and motorcycles, was collected through the test driver method by using the same vehicles for cars and motorcycles and following their normal driving habits. From the analysis results, some factors causing accidents on the Bekasi Narogong Road Section are the lack of traffic signs, road surface conditions, and lack of clear road markings. While on the FT050 Johor federal road, every kilometre per segment and along the segment, motorcycles are faster than cars in terms of speed.

Abstract

Road geometric design is a way of planning a road geometrically or involves calculating angles through the process. Regarding the geometric design of roads, it is important to assess the conformity of the design criteria with the applicable guidelines, namely the Road Geometric Design Guidelines. In this paper, an eval_uation of the geometric design of existing roads, namely Jalan Raya Tarikolot, Majalengka, and adjustments to the Road Geometric Design Guidelines is carried out. The research method used is an eval_uation research method for the research object, namely Jalan Raya Tarikolot, Majalengka. The results obtained show that Jalan Raya Tarikolot, Majalengka is a road with a flat terrain type. Alignment P2 is the FC alignment type, while the other seven alignments are S-C-S alignment types. Through the eval_uation carried out, the results showed that the horizontal adjustment of the Tarikolot Highway, Majalengka met the criteria, so it did not require design improvements.

Abstract

This study investigates the optimal design of bridge foundations incorporating ground improvement techniques in challenging soil conditions, employing a case study methodology. Bridge foundations primarily serve to transfer forces applied by the bridge to the underlying soil, and ground improvement techniques enhance soil properties, particularly in complex environments. Challenging soil conditions pose substantial difficulties in designing and constructing bridge foundations, requiring engineers to employ specific methodologies to ensure stability and long-term resilience. These solutions are crucial in areas with weak or unstable soil incapable of supporting large structures like bridges. This study aims to conduct a thorough comparative analysis to evaluate the suitability of Controlled Modulus Columns (CMC) for a roadway project in north-central Java, where soil conditions present significant challenges. By collecting and analyzing secondary data from various sources, including literature, case studies, and empirical research, the study assesses ground improvement techniques' effectiveness, efficiency, and performance in similar soil and geotechnical conditions. The objective is to determine whether CMCs are the most beneficial approach for enhancing the stability and performance of the highway or if alternative methods, which require rapid installation and high load-bearing capacity while minimizing soil disruption, might be more appropriate. The study highlights that Deep Soil Mixing (DSM) offers advantages comparable to CMCs and has proven effective in different soil conditions. This research aims to provide valuable insights into selecting optimal ground improvement techniques for bridge foundations in challenging soil conditions, ensuring stability and performance while addressing project-specific requirements.

Abstract

Within structural engineering, bridges demonstrate how the practical import of scientific hypotheses becomes clear to humanity. Engineers use computer simulations and models to anticipate how the bridge will react under various stresses and what its response is likely given all sorts of environments over its life span. The construction of the Nongsa Pura Bridge in Batam, which showcases cutting-edge civil engineering accomplishments customized to local requirements, represents a critical turning point in the region's infrastructure improvement. This paper aims to analyze the deflection of a Nongsa Pura Planning Simulation using SAP2000 software. This research uses secondary data and the author's assumptions as necessary data to design a bridge. The results of this research are deflection values for the main girder, transverse girder, and longitudinal girder. In the main girder, the most considerable deflection value is 0,0778724 m. In contrast, in the transverse girder, the most considerable deflection value is 0,034118 m, and the longitudinal beam has the most considerable deflection value of 0,077809 m.

Abstract

This paper presents a detailed approach to bridge planning and modeling using Building Information Modeling (BIM), focusing on steel frame structures. The implementation of Autodesk Revit Version 2024.1 significantly enhances the precision and efficiency of the planning and modeling process. The methodology involves gathering detailed data references, creating 2D drawings, and developing a comprehensive 3D model for structural analysis and construction design. In the bridge modeling phase, the trusses are constructed using advanced BIM tools, ensuring the structural elements are aligned accurately with the reference framework. This approach facilitates better stakeholder collaboration, improved communication, and more effective resource management. Using BIM technologies and precise data representation in the simulation contributes to better design outcomes, higher accuracy, and improved safety and compliance verification in bridge construction projects. The results demonstrate that integrating BIM in steel frame bridge planning leads to enhanced project efficiency, reduced construction errors, and optimized material use, ultimately supporting long-term sustainability in infrastructure development.

Abstract

This study aims to provide practical and applicable solutions to improve road safety on the Troop-Sindangkasih Road section in Majalengka Regency, West Java, by analyzing road visibility using empirical data and the Bina Marga method. The primary data consisted of looking for a literature review on the classification of road classes based on their functions, calculation of visibility, while for secondary data collected about the location map of this study. The results show that visibility planning can be improved to improve traffic efficiency and reduce the risk of accidents. The research could also consider the influence of different vehicle types and weather conditions on visibility requirements to refine the standards set by the Geometric Planning Procedures for Intercity Roads. It is also hoped that this research will increase awareness of the importance of visibility planning for overall road safety to avoid accidents.

Abstract

In the world of construction, aesthetic has become an important factor that must be considered. The aesthetic elements consist of wholeness, prominence and balance. However, aesthetic values can be influenced by several factors, namely economic, social, cultural, technological, ergonomic and psychological factors and this cause that in commercial development or the building that use slab system for foundation is used greatly affects it in terms of aesthetics and also cost effectiveness. The author's purpose of doing this research is to analyse the efficiency of volume in concrete and deflection between Flat Slab system and Waffle slab system. This research uses a case study at the Pasir Putih Convention, Batam, Indonesia. The analysis is done with ETABS software based on the local standards or known as Indonesia National Standard (abbreviated SNI). The choice of a slab system in a development is very important, especially if the building or construction is categorized as commercial structure. Based on the data obtained by researchers in terms of economics and deflection, Waffle Slab System is the right choice, meanwhile in terms of ease construction Waffle Slab System will be the secondary choice than Flat Slab, Since Flat Slab is more ease of framework installation than Waffle Slab.
