Abstract

Natural disasters in the form of floods and erosion in remote area road networks pose challenges for the government. The involvement of community-based disaster management can make it easier for stakeholders to carry out disaster mitigation intelligently. Digital technology can provide information about disaster conditions and facilitate coordination between related parties in managing floods and landslides. This research aims to explore the cultural understanding of the local community to encourage community-based involvement in optimizing road infrastructure services that have been disrupted due to floods and landslides. This qualitative research method uses data from surveys, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and in-depth interviews. Several community leaders, non-government organizations, and the government became sources of data and discussions. The research results are divided into four main results: 1) Based on exploring the cultural understanding of the local community about disasters, the community is very concerned about road safety and accessibility. Communities in the road network area have also understood the causes of floods and landslides that can disrupt road functions; 2) Culturally, the community is accustomed to and actively involved in disaster preparedness; 3) Hereditarily, the community has been an essential part of the disaster mitigation process; 4) The community feels comfortable using social media platforms to accelerate community communication in disaster mitigation and handling.

Abstract

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has transformed the construction industry by offering a robust platform that integrates design, analysis, and construction processes within a single digital environment. This research explores the application of BIM technology, explicitly using Autodesk Revit, in modeling bridge abutments—an essential component in bridge construction that supports and distributes loads from the superstructure to the foundation. The study aims to demonstrate how BIM enhances the efficiency, accuracy, and sustainability of abutment design and construction. The methodology involves a comprehensive review of existing literature on BIM and bridge abutment design, focusing on technological advancements, case studies, and best practices. Additionally, practical implementation of BIM using Revit is conducted to develop detailed 3D models of abutments, incorporating architectural, structural, and geotechnical elements. The benefits of BIM in this context include improved collaboration among multidisciplinary teams, enhanced visualization capabilities for design optimization, and early detection of clashes and constructability issues. The research investigates the integration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with BIM to enhance site selection and environmental assessment phases, ensuring informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. Innovations in materials science, such as the use of fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP) and ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), are also considered for their potential to enhance the durability and longevity of bridge abutments. Ultimately, this study contributes to advancing the application of BIM in civil engineering, particularly in bridge construction, by showcasing Revit's capabilities in creating accurate, data-rich models that improve project outcomes.

Abstract

Menteng Raya Bintaro Road Section as one of the main corridors experiences similar problems with increased air pollution and noise due to transportation activities. This study aims to analyze traffic operational performance and examine the relationship between vehicle density and air quality (PM2.5) and noise level on Menteng Raya Bintaro Road Section. The research method uses a traffic performance analysis approach based on the 2023 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI), with data collection through direct observation for three day) using a time interval of 15 minutes. Measurements include vehicle volume, PM2.5 concentration, and noise levels during peak traffic hours. The results of the study show that traffic performance on Menteng Raya Bintaro Road Section is still in normal condition with the highest volume of 3,036 vehicles/hour (Tuesday afternoon 17:15–18:15), degree of saturation (DJ) 0.57 (below the threshold of 0.85), and road capacity of 5,372.97 Vcu/Hour. However, environmental quality showed unhealthy conditions with the highest PM2.5 concentration reaching 91.67 μg/m³ (exceeding the 55 μg/m³ quality standard) on Tuesday and the highest noise level of 88.33 dB(A) (exceeding the 55 dB(A) quality standard for residential areas). Correlation analysis revealed a strong positive relationship between traffic density and PM2.5 concentrations, particularly on weekdays with values of R² = 0.6143 (Tuesday) and R² = 0.5843 (Thursday), suggesting 58-61% of air quality variations were explained by traffic activity. A similar relationship was identified at the highest correlation noise level on Tuesday (R² = 0.5113).
