Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of post-positivism, critical theory, and constructivism paradigms in social research in the field of management. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with descriptive and analytical data analysis, through the elaboration of main ideas related to the topic discussed. The results of the study indicate that the three paradigms, namely post-positivism, critical theory, and constructivism, all strive to advance science, although with different approaches. However, in essence, the three paradigms complement each other in providing a deeper and contextual understanding of managerial practices, as well as opening up opportunities for a more inclusive, fair, and socially dynamic managerial approach in the organization. The application of these three paradigms also encourages changes in the way of viewing roles and power in the organization, which can lead to improvements in overall managerial practices.

Abstract

Abstract

Essentially, ethics and morals are guidelines for human action, and science seeks to explain reality as it is. Science is a systematic effort to investigate, discover and improve human understanding of various aspects of human nature. These aspects are limited to produce clear formulations. By limiting the range of their views, science provides confidence, and this confidence comes from its limitations. Science is not just knowledge, but encapsulates a body of knowledge that is based on recognized theories and can be tested with a set of recognized methods in a particular field.

Abstract

Economic challenges are closely linked to discussions about micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs) due to their vital role in GDP contribution and job creation. Despite this, the progress of small businesses evolving into sustainable entities has been sluggish over the last decade. Therefore, it is crucial to conduct research aimed at bolstering the capabilities of SMEs in Indonesia. This research examines the financial behavior of SMEs through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The goal is to pinpoint the factors that affect SMEs' financial behavior and their implications for financial planning. The SLR process consists of three key stages: identification, selection, and synthesis, with this study analyzing 15 pertinent articles. The results indicate that financial behavior is shaped by various factors, such as financial literacy, financial satisfaction, financial socialization, and mental accounting. This research serves as a resource for stakeholders in the SME sector, including researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, to enhance the capabilities of SMEs in Indonesia. Additionally, the findings aim to contribute to the global financial literature by offering a more organized behavioral finance model.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) play a vital role in the global economy, including in Indonesia, where their functions and definitions may vary across different countries. This research explores the integration of Pancasila values in fostering the sustainable development of UMKM in Indonesia, emphasizing ethical business practices and inclusivity. Conducted in East Java, the study involved 220 UMKM actors and focused on analyzing the influence of Pancasila-based performance factors on UMKM resilience. Using factor analysis, the study examines the effects of Pancasila values on UMKM resilience, demonstrating the high validity and reliability of the instruments used. The findings highlight that the adoption of Pancasila values significantly enhances the resilience of UMKM, particularly in terms of their ability to adapt and thrive in challenging conditions. The results also underscore the importance of integrating ethical, social, and cultural values into business practices to ensure long-term economic sustainability. These insights can inform practical strategies for managing UMKM and shaping policies that foster their growth and resilience.

Abstract

This study examines the contributions of philosophical streams—positivism, interpretivism, pragmatism, and critical realism—in shaping scientific research paradigms, methods, and ethics. Each philosophical approach has unique characteristics that influence how researchers understand reality, develop theories, and select research methods. Positivism emphasizes objectivity through empirical observation and quantitative analysis to identify causal relationships. In contrast, interpretivism focuses on subjective understanding and social meaning derived from individual experiences, making it suitable for qualitative research. Pragmatism offers a flexible approach by integrating quantitative and qualitative methods to address complex research questions and provide practical benefits. Critical realism bridges objective and subjective approaches by exploring the underlying mechanisms of phenomena. Furthermore, these philosophical approaches provide an ethical foundation to ensure that research is conducted responsibly and meets societal needs. By understanding and applying these philosophical paradigms, researchers can produce more holistic studies and contribute significantly to advancing knowledge.

Abstract

This study examines the ethics of transhumanism in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and its implications for humanity through the perspective of Immanuel Kant’s deontological ethics. The research focuses on the threats to human dignity, moral autonomy, and social injustice arising from the application of transhumanism. Using a qualitative research method based on a literature review, the findings reveal that AI development within the framework of transhumanism tends to violate universal moral principles by treating humans as mere instruments for technological progress. Additionally, autonomous AI has the potential to eliminate human moral responsibility, increase dependency on technology, and deepen the inequality of access between affluent and underprivileged groups. This study recommends AI development policies that emphasize respect for human dignity, moral autonomy, and equitable technology distribution to prevent the risks of dehumanization and social inequality.
