Abstract

The gasing game is a game where the gasing can rotate on an axis and balance at one point. This game is classified as one of the traditional games in Indonesia which is starting to disappear. One way to preserve this game is to integrate it with learning at school. Therefore, the authors are interested in studying the physics concepts contained in tops so that they can be used during physics learning activities in class. The method used in this study is a qualitative method, which is a procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people or observable behavior. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that there are many physics concepts in top games, including the balance of rigid bodies, frictional forces, work, moments of inertia, and rotational motion, as well as kinetic energy as well as gravitational forces. So that traditional gasing games can be integrated with physics learning at school with the hope that students will learn physics more easily so that students have the desire to always study physics and be able to understand physics material properly and optimally.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the concept of physics in the game rides in Surabaya Prestasi Park and provide information through photos taken directly to readers. In this article the experimental method used is direct observation, documentation, and analysis (literature study) as a form of data collection. In this article, four physics concepts are found in the game rides, namely swings, slides, and seesaws in the form of simple harmonic motion concepts, energy, force, and levers. When playing swing there is a concept of physics that occurs in the motion of the swing, namely simple harmonic motion and the energy contained therein. In the slide there are physics concepts namely frictional force, energy concept and inclined plane. On the seesaw there is the concept of a lever. From this article it can be concluded that the rides at Surabaya Prestasi Park have a lot to do with physics concepts, including the concepts of simple harmonic motion, energy, force, and levers through personal documentation with direct observation so that apart from playing, children indirectly have learned the concept of physics so as to increase knowledge and insight

Abstract

This research discusses the implementation of a Problem-Based earning learning model assisted by PhET Simulation to improve students' critical thinking skills on the material of traveling waves and stationary waves. The purpose of this study is to obtain a profile of students' critical thinking skills in physics learning at the Senior High School level and to evaluate the effectiveness of the PBL model enhanced by using PhET Simulation in improving these skills. This research method is a preliminary study and descriptive qualitative. The research instruments used were a critical thinking skills test, a teacher interview, and a learner response questionnaire. The findings of students' critical thinking skills are categorized into low, medium, and high. There are 62 students in the low category and 8 students in the medium category and the level of critical thinking skills of female students is higher than male students. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the critical thinking skills of students are in a low category, and practice and the use of appropriate learning models are needed.

Abstract

This research investigates the growing research trends surrounding the application of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in the Physics Education domain. Using a bibliometric analysis approach, data sourced from the Scopus database yielded 89 related documents. The findings revealed a significant surge of scholarly interest in the implementation of PBL and PjBL in Physics Education over the past decade, indicating a growing area for further exploration. In particular, there is a growing trend to integrate PBL and PjBL methodologies with STEM education, as this incorporation has shown promise in enhancing critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and student engagement. However, it's important to note that this researh was constrained by its dependence on a sole database, namely Scopus, for the collection of data. Future research efforts in PBL and PjBL in Physics Education are encouraged to utilise diverse databases to ensure comprehensive coverage and analysis.

Abstract

This research aims to create valid and effective Student Activity Sheets (SAS) and Scientific Creativity Tests (SCT) in order to enhance the creativity of open university students. The validity of SAS and SCT is determined by achieving a minimum score of 2.50 in both content validity and construct validity categories. Similarly, their effectiveness is measured by: (1) observing a statistically significant increase in students' scientific creativity at a 5% significance level; and (2) achieving a minimum average n-gain in the medium category. This research follows an Educational Design Research approach and utilizes a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The research subjects consist of undergraduate students at Open University Surabaya during the 2023/2024 academic year. The data collection instruments used in this research include: (1) a Validity Assessment Sheet for SAS and SCT; and (2) the SCT test. The research data, which includes pre-test and post-test scores, are collected after conducting prerequisite tests such as normality and homogeneity tests. These scores are then analyzed using a paired t-test to identify any differences in students' scientific creativity between the pre-test and post-test stages. The average level of improvement in scores is calculated using the normalized gain (N-gain) method. The research data, in the form of scores obtained from the assessments of the validity of learning tools by three Learning Experts, are analyzed using the average method to determine validity, as well as by using Cronbach's alpha (α) to assess reliability. The same analysis is conducted for the Research Instrument scores. The research findings demonstrate that both SAS and SCT tools are valid and effective in enhancing student creativity.
