Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the division of labor in managing natural resources (NR) is socially constructed within household life in informal settlements. Using a qualitative approach and Moser’s gender analysis framework, the research examines how productive, reproductive, and community roles are performed and interpreted by family members. The findings reveal that women occupy a dominant position in managing domestic NR such as water, energy, and household waste due to their more consistent presence in the home, compared to men who work outside. Although women also participate in productive activities to support the household economy, their contributions are often not recognized equally. The study also finds that women face a double burden, having to carry out both productive and reproductive roles with minimal support from other family members. Furthermore, gender inequality is evident in men’s dominance over strategic decision-making and access to community-level resources. This study highlights that the division of labor in low-income households is not merely a technical arrangement but a socially constructed practice that reproduces gender inequality and structural burdens on women.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology facilitates access to various content, including pornography. This phenomenon is becoming increasingly worrying among students, given their high curiosity and weak supervision. Free access to pornography can lead to deviant behavior, psychological disorders, addiction, and dehumanization. This study aims to examine the behavior of consuming pornography among students as a form of social deviation, by reviewing its impact from individual and social aspects, and looking at the causal factors through the perspective of social control theory. The study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method through in-depth interviews with informants at one of the state universities in Jakarta. The results of the study showed that pornography consumption is influenced by various factors such as the environment, peers, technology, and weak self-control, which ultimately have an impact on mental health, social relations, and perceptions of the body and sexuality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how inclusive education is socially constructed through teaching strategies implemented in three public schools in Jakarta. Using a qualitative approach and Berger’s theory of social construction, the research explores how inclusive values are expressed, institutionalized, and internalized by educational actors such as teachers, students, and school administrators. The findings indicate that inclusive teaching strategies have begun to take form through flexible learning methods, the admission of students with disabilities, and curriculum adjustments. However, this process still faces several challenges, including limited teacher competence, the absence of support teachers, inadequate facilities, and the lack of a fair assessment system for students with disabilities. On the other hand, school policy support and openness from the school leadership are key factors in encouraging the internalization of inclusive values. This study underscores that inclusive education cannot rely solely on formal policy implementation but requires a continuous social process involving collective participation and awareness from the entire school community to make these values a meaningful part of everyday school life.

Abstract

Digital transformation in the transportation sector provides new opportunities for women to work as online ojek drivers. However, their presence in public space exposes their vulnerability to misogynistic practices rooted in patriarchal culture. This study aims to examine the forms of misogynistic practices experienced by female online ojek drivers, as well as understand their strategies in dealing with the situation through the perspective of radical feminism. Using descriptive qualitative method, data was collected through in-depth interviews with female online ojek drivers in East Jakarta. The results showed that they often experience verbal and non-verbal harassment, gender stereotyping, and symbolic marginalization in public spaces. The strategies developed include subtle rejection, utilization of digital security features, community solidarity, and self-image management as a form of resistance to unequal power relations. The findings confirm that public space is not yet fully safe for women, and their struggle reflects a form of resistance to the patriarchal system that still dominates Indonesia’s social order.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how gender control operates within the phenomenon of overachievement among students at Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Overachievement is understood as a response to social expectations that demand students to excel academically, engage in organizational activities, and build a strong personal brand. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, this research explores the lived experiences of two students of different genders, Fatimah and Sufyan, to understand how gendered social expectations and surveillance influence the way they navigate overachievement. The findings reveal that female students tend to experience greater social pressure and must manage their performance and self-image in line with dominant gender norms. In contrast, male students are afforded more freedom to succeed without the same image constraints. These findings are analyzed using feminist theory, particularly the concepts of gender performativity and symbolic control, which show that gender-based power relations continue to shape student experiences in the urban academic sphere.

Abstract

The phenomenon of misandry on social media is increasingly prominent as awareness of gender equality issues increases. Misandry, which is hatred towards men, often appears in the form of memes, comments, and long threads containing negative generalizations towards men. This study aims to examine how misandry speech is produced, disseminated, and interpreted in a digital context, using a qualitative approach based on literature studies. R.W. Connell’s hegemonic masculinity theory is used as the main theoretical framework. The findings show that although mIsandry can be interpreted as a form of resistance to patriarchal domination, this expression often shifts into a new form of symbolic violence that targets all men regardless of their context and identity. Digital space, as a participatory arena, allows women and marginalized groups to voice their experiences, but is also prone to giving rise to destructive counter-discourses if not accompanied by critical awareness. Therefore, it is important to distinguish between criticism of patriarchal structures and gender-based hate speech, so that the discourse of equality does not turn into a reproduction of new forms of inequality.

Abstract

Educated unemployment in urban areas is a paradox in human resource development in Indonesia. A bachelor’s degree that is expected to be a ticket to decent work does not guarantee easy access to the world of work. This study aims to understand the social reality of educated unemployment among college graduates in Rawamangun, East Jakarta. A qualitative approach with a case study method is used to explore the subjective meaning, social experiences, and survival strategies of individuals who experience unemployment. The social construction theory of Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann is the main analytical framework in understanding how the status of “unemployed” is formed and negotiated in everyday life. The results of the study show that educated unemployment experiences social pressure, identity crisis, and dissonance between expectations and reality. The world of work that demands experience, technical skills, and personal connections is a major obstacle for new graduates. However, individuals are not passive: they form new meanings about work, get involved in family businesses, and maintain psychological stability through certain social strategies. This study shows that educated unemployment is not just an economic issue, but a social construction that has an impact on identity and social relations. Structural responses from education and employment systems are needed to bridge this gap.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis penyebab pengangguran lulusan Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) tahun 2023 hingga 2025, dengan fokus pada kesenjangan antara pendidikan tinggi dan kebutuhan pasar kerja. Menggunakan teori patologi sosial Durkheim dan konflik institusional Mills, penelitian mengkaji faktor struktural dan institusional yang memengaruhi pengangguran lulusan. Pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif diterapkan, dengan data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap enam lulusan UNJ yang dipilih dan belum bekerja minimal enam bulan pasca wisuda. Studi dilakukan di Jabodetabek pada Juni 2025, merepresentasikan pasar kerja kompetitif. Temuan menunjukkan masalah struktural seperti ketidaksesuaian kurikulum dengan industri, minimnya soft skill, dan terbatasnya lapangan kerja sebagai penyebab utama. Lulusan mengadopsi strategi adaptif seperti pelatihan digital dan pekerjaan freelance, namun kesenjangan sistemik tetap ada. Rekomendasi mencakup reformasi kurikulum, kolaborasi dengan industri, dan inisiatif penciptaan lapangan kerja oleh pemerintah. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada wacana sosiologi tentang ketimpangan pendidikan dan tenaga kerja serta solusi praktis bagi perguruan tinggi dan pemangku kebijakan.

Abstract

Abstract: Women have dual roles that they perform simultaneously in their daily lives, namely taking care of the household while also being active in community activities. In their neighborhood, women's involvement in social activities such as the PKK (Family Welfare Movement) is part of their routine, which they carry out with various adjustments. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method to examine how women balance their domestic and social roles. The research was conducted in 2025 in RW 03, Jatinegara Village, Cakung Subdistrict, East Jakarta, with five housewives who are active in the PKK community as subjects. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and literature review. This study employs qualitative descriptive analysis techniques, presenting results narratively based on the direct experiences of the informants. The findings reveal that women continue to prioritize domestic responsibilities while simultaneously actively participating in social activities such as resident registration, religious activities, and managing environmental health programs, which are part of PKK activities themselves. Some of them face structural challenges, such as resistance from residents, difficulty finding replacements for cadres, and a lack of support from the surrounding community. Despite these challenges, they consistently fulfill their roles and view community activities as a form of social contribution and a means to expand networks and strengthen women's roles in society. Keyword: Women, Dual Roles, Household, Community, PKK Abstrak: Perempuan memiliki peran ganda yang dijalankan secara bersamaan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, yaitu mengurus rumah tangga sekaligus aktif dalam kegiatan komunitas. Di lingkungan tempat tinggalnya, keterlibatan perempuan dalam kegiatan sosial seperti PKK menjadi bagian dari rutinitas yang mereka jalankan dengan berbagai penyesuaian. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus yang bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana perempuan menjalani peran domestik dan sosial secara bersamaan. Penelitian dilakukan pada tahun 2025 di wilayah RW 03 Kelurahan Jatinegara, Kecamatan Cakung, Jakarta Timur, dengan subjek lima orang ibu rumah tangga yang aktif dalam komunitas PKK. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dan studi pustaka. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif yang menyajikan hasil secara naratif berdasarkan pengalaman langsung para informan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa para perempuan tetap menjalankan tanggung jawab domestik sebagai prioritas utama dan secara bersamaan juga aktif menjalankan kegiatan sosial seperti pendataan warga,, kegiatan keagamaan, serta pengelolaan program kesehatan lingkungan yang termasuk dalam kegiatan PKK itu sendiri. Beberapa dari mereka mengalami tantangan struktural, seperti penolakan dari warga, sulitnya mencari pengganti kader, serta kurangnya dukungan dari lingkungan sekitar. Meskipun demikian, mereka tetap menjalani peran tersebut secara konsisten dan melihat aktivitas komunitas sebagai bentuk kontribusi sosial serta sarana untuk memperluas jaringan dan memperkuat peran perempuan di masyarakat. Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to examine the impact of involvement in online gambling on the consumptive behavior of young people. This phenomenon is increasingly widespread along with the ease of internet access and the increasing use of gadgets. The research uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach and interviews with five informants who have been involved in online gambling activities. The results show that the motivation to play online gambling is not only economic, but also related to social pressure, curiosity, and entertainment seeking. This activity causes significant changes in consumption behavior, such as overspending, neglecting basic needs, and the tendency to borrow money for gambling. Analysis using Mark Griffiths' addiction theory and Abraham Maslow's needs theory shows that online gambling becomes a compensatory tool for unmet psychological needs, while forming an addictive cycle that damages financial and emotional conditions. The study concludes that online gambling not only affects the economic aspects of individuals, but also worsens the psychosocial conditions and social relations of young people as a whole. Keyword: Online Gambling, Consumptive Behavior, Young Generation, Addiction, Psychological Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dampak keterlibatan dalam judi online terhadap perilaku konsumtif generasi muda. Fenomena ini semakin meluas seiring kemudahan akses internet dan meningkatnya penggunaan gawai. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi literatur dan wawancara terhadap lima narasumber yang pernah terlibat dalam aktivitas judi online. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa motivasi bermain judi online tidak hanya bersifat ekonomi, tetapi juga berkaitan dengan tekanan sosial, rasa penasaran, dan pencarian hiburan. Aktivitas ini menimbulkan perubahan signifikan dalam perilaku konsumsi, seperti pengeluaran berlebihan, pengabaian kebutuhan pokok, dan kecenderungan meminjam uang untuk berjudi. Analisis menggunakan teori kecanduan Mark Griffiths dan teori kebutuhan Abraham Maslow menunjukkan bahwa judi online menjadi sarana kompensatif atas kebutuhan psikologis yang tidak terpenuhi, sekaligus membentuk siklus adiktif yang merusak kondisi finansial dan emosional. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa judi online tidak hanya berdampak pada aspek ekonomi individu, tetapi juga memperburuk kondisi psikososial dan relasi sosial generasi muda secara keseluruhan.
