Abstract

This study explores students' perspectives on the role of social media and artificial intelligence (AI) in verifying information while also addressing the ethical implications of using AI to combat disinformation. Conducted with 70 participants using a qualitative approach, the research relied on interviews to gain a thorough understanding of students' attitudes and viewpoints. The findings reveal that most students rely on social media to verify information and hold an optimistic view of AI's capabilities. However, concerns regarding ethical risks and diverse opinions emphasize the need for greater awareness and training in utilizing technology to combat disinformation effectively. The study highlights that students actively apply various aspects of media literacy in navigating digital information. They interpret and decode messages, assess their authenticity, classify AI as a valuable tool, recognize potential ethical risks, and exhibit an overall critical awareness of online content. These insights underscore the importance of fostering media literacy and ethical understanding in the digital age to manage information responsibly.

Abstract

Proper guidance is needed to help students manage their use of technology and digital screens in a balanced way, to prevent negative impacts on their physical health, mental well-being, and religious values. This service aims to assist students in managing screentime wisely and strengthening religious values. A Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach involved students, teachers, and parents in three madrasahs in Nganjuk: MTSn Nglawak, MTSn Patianrowo, and MTS Termas Baron about 120 participants. Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) analysis methods, such as Ven Diagram, Flowchart, Timeline, Problem Tree, and Hope Tree, were applied. The service results show that screen time management training, discussion of religious values, active supervision, introduction of alternative activities, and education about the negative impact of screen time are relevant solutions. PAR-based mentoring can help students achieve a healthy digital balance by religious values, and provide guidance for practitioners and researchers in implementing similar mentoring.

Abstract

The Tingkeban ceremony, as a cultural heritage of the Javanese community in Nganjuk, East Java, Indonesia, is faced with preservation challenges due to the influence of modernization and globalization. This research explores integrating local wisdom and Islamic values in maintaining and enriching the Tingkeban Ceremony. This study used a case study approach involving observation, interviews, and document analysis as data collection methods. This research reveals that the fusion of local wisdom and Islamic values in the Tingkeban Ceremony results in a harmonious and meaningful cultural tradition, reflecting their Javanese identity and Islamic faith. The local wisdom in the ceremony includes values such as cooperation, togetherness, and tolerance, while the integrated Islamic values include good manners, submission to Allah Swt. and cleanliness. Collaboration between various parties, including the community, religious leaders, and local government, is essential in ensuring the continuity of the Tingkeban Ceremony. Although the practice has evolved, the core values of the ceremony have been maintained and even strengthened. This study recommends efforts to increase the role and involvement of the community in preserving the Tingkeban Ceremony, develop educational programs that strengthen understanding of cultural values and Islamic faith, and promote this ceremony as an attractive cultural tourism destination in Nganjuk.

Abstract

Inclusive education is one of the crucial aspects in the development of a sustainable education system in Indonesia. However, the successful implementation of inclusive education is often constrained by various factors, including the level of political will of the government in adopting policies and taking concrete steps to support them. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the Indonesian government's political will in developing inclusive education. The research method used was a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through policy analysis, and a literature study. Data analysis was conducted using a policy analysis framework that considers aspects such as political commitment, budget allocation and program implementation. The results show that despite several efforts by the Indonesian government to promote inclusive education, the level of political will remains a major challenge. Constraints such as inadequate policy priorities, lack of adequate budget allocations and lack of inter-agency coordination are the main factors hindering the progress of inclusive education in Indonesia. Concrete measures are needed to increase the government's political will, including increased political awareness, increased budget allocations and improved inter-agency coordination to support more effective and inclusive implementation of inclusive education in the future.

Abstract

The digitalization of education has become a critical focus for educational transformation in the 21st century. This study explores the key challenges and opportunities of digitalization, focusing on digital competency among educators, access to infrastructure, and the overall impact on student engagement and learning outcomes. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected from 500 educators and policymakers through surveys and interviews. The findings reveal that while digital tools increase student engagement (70% positive impact), significant gaps in educator readiness (47% of vocational trainers reported low digital competency) and unequal access to digital infrastructure—particularly in rural areas (72% reported inadequate access)—hinder the full potential of digital education. Additionally, concerns were raised about the impact on critical thinking and social skills, with 40% of respondents believing the lack of in-person interaction could negatively affect student development. The study concludes that for digital education to succeed, policymakers must address both technological access and human capital development through comprehensive professional development and equitable infrastructure investments.

Abstract

Indonesia’s diverse religious landscape offers both opportunities and challenges in fostering societal harmony. Presidential Regulation No. 58 of 2023 on Strengthening Religious Moderation integrates principles of relational pluralism, managed pluralism, and religious institutional pluralism to promote interfaith dialogue, inclusivity, and public safety while respecting the autonomy of religious communities. This qualitative study, based on document analysis, interviews, and observations, reveals that the regulation facilitates collaboration between state and religious groups, increases participation in interfaith initiatives, and reduces prejudice, particularly among younger demographics. Despite these successes, challenges such as cultural resistance, uneven implementation, and limited understanding of pluralism persist. The findings contribute to the discourse on pluralism by connecting theoretical frameworks with practical applications in Indonesia’s unique socio-religious context and offer recommendations for enhancing policy effectiveness through education, capacity building, and strategic implementation.
