Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology has influenced the field of education, which can be utilized in the learning process. This study aims to test the feasibility and effectiveness of the development of HOTS-based pocket encyclopedia books in improving the culture of scientific literacy in 21st-century learning. This study is a research and development (R&D) with the Borg and Gall model. The subjects of this study consisted of 66 fifth-grade elementary school students in Klaten Regency, Central Java, who were selected using random sampling techniques. Data collection techniques through surveys, tests, and observations. Data was analyzed quantitatively by evaluating the category, and then analyzed qualitatively. The results of the study indicate that the development of HOTS-based pocket encyclopedia books is proven to be valid, feasible, and effective in improving the culture of scientific literacy in 21st-century learning. The non-parametric effectiveness test (Kruskal-Wallis test) shows a significance value of 0.445. This indicates that HOTS-based pocket encyclopedia books developed are effective in improving the culture of scientific literacy in 21st-century learning. The use of this learning media can be an innovative strategy in creating active, fun, and interesting learning.   Keywords: pocket book, encyclopedia, high-order thinking skills, science literacy culture, science learning.

Abstract

Digital-based learning is a transformation of education.  Teachers can now distribute lesson materials in a more effective and interesting manner thanks to a variety of tools and platforms. Among the most notable innovations in this area is is the use of e-modules, particularly flipbook-based e-modules. Students can immediately engage with the curriculum, explore, and develop their creativity in this more dynamic and interactive learning environment. The purpose of this study is to examine how flipbook-based IPAS e-modules can be used to enhance students' creativity. This research method employs SLR (Systematic Literature Review) following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses) guidelines, which involves analyzing several articles related to how the use of flipbook-based e-modules can enhance students' creativity, thereby achieving the expected learning outcomes, especially in the subject of IPAS. In order to find relevant publications for this literature review, the Publish or Perish (PoP) tool, which is indexed by Google Scholar, was used. Title, abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussions, and conclusions are the seven components of the PRISMA concept, which was used to assess the relevant articles after they were found using the requested keywords. The PoP program that is connected with Google Scholar has identified 25 out of 305 articles. The results of the study show that using e-modules based on flipbooks is able to increase students' creativity and produce the desired learning results. The use of flipbook-based e-modules certainly shows great potential in supporting more innovative and effective education.       Keywords: e-module, flipbook, student creativity, IPAS, teaching materials. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i4.pp2029-2051

Abstract

Learning Readiness toward Critical Reasoning Skill of Third Grade Students in Social Science Learning. Objective: This research aims to analyze the relationship between learning readiness and the critical reasoning skill third grade students in social science learning. Method: This research used quantitative research methods with a correlation research type. The population in the study were third grade elementary school students in Jogonalan sub-district. Meanwhile, the research sample used a convenience sampling technique with a sample size of 30 students. The data validity test used construct validity tests, while the data analysis technique used statistical inference tests. Findings: The research results show that there are students with good learning readiness but whose critical reasoning skill have not yet developed. Then, there are students with moderate learning readiness but whose critical reasoning skill develop as expected. Lastly, there is a linear relationship between good learning readiness and critical reasoning skill which develop as expected. The learning preparation of third grade students obtained an average score of 82 in the good category, while the critical reasoning skill of third grade students obtained an average score of 80 in the developing category. Conclusion: Based on the research results, the researcher concluded that there was a positive relationship between learning readiness and the critical reasoning skill of third grade students in social science learning.         Keywords: social science, learning readiness, critical reasoning skill, primary school. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i3.pp1113-1132

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to determine the effect of using the game-based learning (GBL) model on fostering learning motivation in natural-social sciences (IPAS) learning. The use of the game-based learning model can serve as an alternative in innovative learning activities. Method: The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental method with a quantitative approach. This research uses a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The subjects in this study are 24 third-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Danguran. The data analysis technique used is the "t" test processed using the SPSS 29 application. In the implementation of the research, natural-social science learning used the GBL model with learning media, IPAS quartet cards. Data collection was conducted through the completion of questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. Findings: The significant learning motivation scores of students can be interpreted as the null hypothesis, which states that there is a difference after and before the implementation of the game-based learning is received. The average score of students' responses after the treatment is better than the average score of students' responses before the treatment. Conclusion: Implementing an innovative and interactive learning model for students, specifically through a game-based learning model utilizing IPAS quartet cards, led to this increase.       Keywords: game-based learning, quartet cards, learning motivation, natural-social science. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i4.pp1705-1718

Abstract

This study aims to test the effect of Augmented Reality (AR) media on mathematics learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Tibayan, Klaten Regency. The use of Augmenter Reality Media can serve as an alternative in innovative learning activities. The study used pre-experimental research methods, one group pretest, and a posttest design using learning outcomes through pretest and posttest to determine the effect of before and after using Augmented Reality media. The subjects of this study were students of fifth grade SD Negeri 2 Tibayan, totaling 20 students, with 12 male students and 8 female students. This study uses instruments in the form of learning outcomes tests and learning devices in the form of teaching modules. Data analysis techniques in this study are descriptive and infersional analysis techniques. The results of the study before using Augmented Reality (AR) media showed a low level of understanding of the concept, with an average value of 64. After using Augmented Reality (AR) Media obtained an average of 80,450 with a standard deviation of 10,679, as well as the lowest value of 65 and the highest of 100 so that it shows the level of understanding of the concept in the high category. Based on these results, it can be concluded that Augmented Reality (AR) media has a significant influence on students ' math learning outcomes.      Keywords: augmented reality, mathematics learning outcomes.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i4.pp2000-2012

Abstract

Current educational developments require integration between academic learning and student character formation. One of the characteristics related to global issues is love of the environment, which can be instilled from an early age through a practical activity-based approach. The CILUKBA (Environmental Love Makes Us Happy) program is an initiative to teach the values of environmental love through science learning. This research aims to evaluate the success of the "CILUKBA" program in building environmentally caring character in grade 6 students at SD Negeri 3 Glodogan. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The research subjects involved 23 students, consisting of 10 male students and 13 female students. The research results show that the "CILUKBA" program has succeeded in increasing students' awareness of the importance of protecting the environment, demonstrated through activities of planting plants, managing plastic waste, and practicing environmentally friendly habits. In addition, students actively demonstrate sustainable environmental love behavior in their daily activities. In conclusion, the "CILUKBA" program is effective as a character-based science learning strategy to foster the value of love for the environment in elementary school students.        Keywords: character education, love of the environment, natural sciences, CILUKBA.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i3.pp1593-1603
