Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of food inflation, per capita income, and consumer spending on food security in four ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, during the period 2013 to 2022. Using a quantitative approach with panel regression analysis, this study processed secondary data from various official sources, such as FAO, World Bank, and the Economist Intelligence Unit. The results of the study showed that independent variables, namely food inflation, per capita income and consumer spending, were able to explain the dependent variable, namely food security by 74%, while the remaining 25.3% was explained by other variables outside the model. This research provides important implications for policymakers in ASEAN countries in formulating strategies that can stabilize food prices, improve economic welfare, and optimize food distribution and accessibility to achieve more sustainable food security in the region.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the purchase decision of environmentally friendly products through a comprehensive theoretical approach. Using the PRISMA 2020-based Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this study examines ten major relevant journals in the 2020–2024 period. The results show that individual factors such as environmental knowledge and awareness, as well as attitudes, play an important role in shaping purchase intentions and behaviors. On the other hand, social norms and green marketing also influence behavior through the mediation of environmental attitudes. Contextual factors such as the credibility of eco-labels and ease of access to products are moderators in the relationship between intentions and actual behaviors. This study concludes that the integration of individual, social, and contextual factors is essential to understand the complexity of eco-friendly product purchasing decisions. The implications of the research include strategic recommendations for companies and policymakers to encourage the adoption of sustainable consumption.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of price and income on contemporary coffee demand through product quality among Generation Z at convenience coffee stores in East Jakarta. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method through the distribution of questionnaires to respondents who have purchased coffee at convenience coffee stores. The number of respondents in this study was 219 people, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis method used in this study is Partial Least Square (PLS) with the assistance of SmartPLS software to test the relationships between variables in the research model. The results show that price does not have a significant direct effect on coffee demand, while income and product quality have a positive and significant effect on coffee demand at convenience coffee stores. In addition, the results also indicate that price and income have a positive and significant effect on product quality. In testing the indirect effects, it was found that product quality is able to mediate the effect of price on coffee demand and also mediate the effect of income on coffee demand. This indicates that consumers do not only consider price when purchasing coffee, but also pay attention to the quality of the product offered and their purchasing power which is influenced by their income level. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that income and product quality are important factors influencing contemporary coffee demand at convenience coffee stores, while price does not directly affect demand but plays a role through consumers’ perceptions of product quality. This study is expected to contribute to the development of economic knowledge, particularly in the field of consumer behavior, and to serve as a reference for convenience coffee store businesses in determining pricing strategies and improving product quality.

Abstract

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are key concerns in labor platforms and the gig economy because the work flexibility they offer is often accompanied by new forms of inequality for workers. Guided by the PRISMA 2020 framework, this systematic literature review (SLR) synthesizes the literature on DEI in the context of labor platforms. Articles were collected from Scopus, Google Scholar, forward citation searching, and reference-list screening. After deduplication and title, abstract, and full-text screening, 64 studies were analyzed using descriptive and thematic approaches. This study examines various forms of DEI-related inequality, the platform mechanisms that shape them, and the contextual factors that support or hinder DEI implementation. The findings suggest that although labor platforms can expand access to work, they may also reinforce inequality through algorithmic control, rating-based discrimination, unclear employment status, income instability, and limited social protection. Key issues identified include gender, race, ethnicity, migration, disability, algorithmic bias, worker representation, regulation, and employment equity. This study proposes a research and policy agenda to promote fairer, more transparent, inclusive, and sustainable digital labor platforms.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of interest rates, exchange rates, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), and the Nikkei 225 on the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) in Indonesia during 2017–2025. Using quantitative approach with 108 monthly time series observations, the analysis employs multiple linear regression with Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) corrected using Newey-West HAC Standard Errors to address autocorrelation. The results show that interest rates have a positive and significant effect on the IHSG (t = 4.347; p = 0.000), while exchange rates have a negative and significant effect (t = -5.163; p = 0.000). The DJIA has no significant effect on the IHSG (t = -1.046; p = 0.298), indicating domestic factors play a more dominant role. The Nikkei 225 has a positive and significant effect (t = 14.093; p = 0.000), confirming strong linkages between Indonesian and Japanese capital markets. The adjusted R-squared of 88.29% indicates that the four independent variables explain 88.29% of IHSG movements. These findings confirm that domestic factors such as interest rates and exchange rates, as well as regional factors such as the Nikkei 225, have a more dominant role in influencing IHSG movements compared to global factors such as the DJIA.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Human Development Index (HDI), energy consumption, and population density on the Environmental Quality Index (EQI) in 34 provinces of Indonesia during the 2015-2024 period from the perspective of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This research uses a quantitative approach with panel data regression analysis using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The data used are secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). The results show that HDI has a positive and significant effect on EQI (t = 2.210; p = 0.034), energy consumption has a positive and significant effect on EQI (t = 2.187; p = 0.036), and population density also has a positive and significant effect on EQI (t = 3.288; p = 0.002). The adjusted R-squared value of 76.76% indicates that the three independent variables are able to explain 76.76% of the variation in EQI. These findings confirm that improving human development, sustainable energy management, and well-managed population density can support environmental quality improvement, thereby contributing to the achievement of SDGs in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of food inflation, per capita income, and poverty on food security across 34 provinces in Indonesia during the 2019–2023 period. A quantitative approach was employed using panel data regression analysis with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The study utilized secondary data obtained from the National Food Agency and Statistics Indonesia. The partial analysis indicates that food inflation has a negative but insignificant effect on food security. This finding suggests that rising food prices tend to reduce people's access to food; however, the impact is not statistically significant. This result is consistent with global evidence showing that increases in food prices may exacerbate food insecurity, although in Indonesia the impact appears to be mitigated by food price stabilization policies and social protection programs. Per capita income has a negative and significant effect on food security. This finding indicates that increases in average income have not been distributed evenly across the population, thereby limiting their contribution to improving overall food security. In contrast, the Food Poverty Line has a positive and significant effect on food security, indicating that greater purchasing power to meet the minimum food requirement of 2,100 kcal per capita per day contributes to improved food security. This result is consistent with previous studies showing that a substantial proportion of the population in developing countries has not yet achieved the minimum recommended calorie intake. Simultaneously, food inflation, per capita income, and the Food Poverty Line have a significant effect on food security, with a coefficient of determination of 90.48%. These findings suggest that improving food security requires comprehensive policies focusing on food price stabilization, a more equitable distribution of income, and expanded access to food for vulnerable populations in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of economic growth, education level, and poverty rate on the Human Development Index (HDI) in Indonesia during the period of 2019–2023. The study was motivated by disparities in human development across provinces in Indonesia despite the overall upward trend in the national HDI. In addition, fluctuations in economic growth due to the COVID-19 pandemic, improvements in educational attainment, and changes in poverty levels are presumed to influence the quality of human development in Indonesia. This study employed a quantitative approach using secondary panel data covering 34 provinces in Indonesia from 2019 to 2023. The data were obtained from Statistics Indonesia (Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS). The data were analyzed using panel data regression, including model selection through the Chow Test, Hausman Test, and Lagrange Multiplier Test, followed by classical assumption tests, partial significance tests (t-test), simultaneous significance tests (F-test), and the coefficient of determination (Adjusted R²). The results indicate that, partially, economic growth has a positive effect on the Human Development Index (HDI), education level has a positive effect on the Human Development Index (HDI), while the poverty rate has a negative effect on the Human Development Index (HDI). Simultaneously, economic growth, education level, and poverty rate have a significant effect on the Human Development Index (HDI) in Indonesia during the 2019–2023 period. The Adjusted R² value indicates that the independent variables explain most of the variation in the Human Development Index (HDI), while the remaining variation is explained by other variables outside the research model. These findings imply that improving educational quality, promoting inclusive economic growth, and reducing poverty are essential factors in enhancing human development in Indonesia. Therefore, the government is expected to strengthen policies aimed at improving the quality of human resources, ensuring more inclusive economic growth, and accelerating poverty reduction to achieve sustainable improvements in the Human Development Index.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of digital payment usage and financial literacy on students’ consumptive behavior, with lifestyle as a mediating variable. The quantitative survey was conducted on 279 students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, class of 2021. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that digital payment has a positive and significant effect on students’ consumptive behavior, both directly and through lifestyle mediation, due to the convenience and perceived benefits of digital payment. Financial literacy has a negative effect on consumptive behavior, both directly and through lifestyle, suggesting that higher financial literacy can reduce students’ tendency to be consumptive. The direct effect of financial literacy on consumptive behavior is more dominant than its indirect effect through lifestyle. Based on these findings, it is recommended that universities integrate financial literacy education into curricula and supporting activities, families provide financial management education from an early stage, and digital payment providers offer features that support students’ financial control. These strategies are expected to help students optimize the benefits of digital payment technology without increasing consumptive behavior.
