Abstract

Farming is very dependent on the ability of farmers as the main manager. Farmers as humans have the freedom to interact with the environment around them, learn new things, and follow any existing developments in order to increase the scale of their farming so that it can have an impact on increasing their welfare. The pattern of training that has been carried out so far is not in accordance with the latest conditions and challenges. Current training is only limited to increasing the knowledge and attitude of farmers, not directly correlated with increasing farmer income which leads to farmer welfare. In line with this, a form of training that is adaptive to the times and can be easily accepted by farmers is needed. Breakthroughs and innovation creations both in materials and methods in conducting training for farmers need to be carried out in order to answer various human resource problems for farmers. Answering this thought, the Onsite Training Model (OTM) is here as a solution and a breakthrough in training and improving farmer human resources. This study aims to analyze the impact of the Onsite Training Model (OTM) on vegetable agribusiness training on farmers' income. Respondents in this study were 45 farmers who attended the training. For this reason, quantitative descriptive analysis was used, analysis of farm income and different comparison tests using the paired sample t test. The results showed that the farmers' income after attending the training was greater and significantly different than the income before attending the training. Therefore farmers are expected to continue to consistently apply the knowledge gained from training using the Onsite Training Model (OTM).

Abstract

Abstract

Ideally, village development is carried out in a planned, participatory, and sustainable manner to create a prosperous society. However, in reality, it is undeniable that most villages have not been able to develop their potential and resources, including in the villages where the research is located. This study aimed to determine the opportunities and potentials for developing community-based village development capital, identify the constraints of community-based village development, analyze strategic factors for community-based village development and formulate priority strategies for community-based village development. The research was conducted in Parentas Village and Cidugaleun Village, Cigalontang District, Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java Province using qualitative methods and case study techniques. Primary data collected from 20 informants were analyzed using SWOT and Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA). The results showed that the five potential development capitals could not be utilized optimally. Opportunities are open because it is in the Tasikmalaya-Garut border area, but access to information networks, irrigation, and transportation was weak. The implication was that production costs become more expensive, the price of production is cheaper and people's incomes are smaller. Community-based village development was influenced by five strategic factors (cooperation culture, community dependence on government assistance and other parties in farming, private investment, availability of technology, and conflicts between communities due to external intervention. The recommended priority alternative strategy is to maximize government programs in infrastructure development by involving the community.

Abstract

The expansion areas have experienced a decline in agricultural land use and a decrease in the number of farming households, which has an impact on livelihood transformation. The purpose of this study is to analyze changes in agricultural land use and the vulnerability of farmers' livelihoods in the expansion areas, namely Mangunjaya Sub-district and Padaherang Sub-district of Pangandaran Regency.  This research uses a quantitative descriptive method with a spatial analysis approach and an interview technique of 378 farmers. The highest land area change in Mangunjaya sub-district was gardens by 44% while in Padaherang Sub-district it was water bodies by 48%. The highest vulnerability is pressure with a value of 4.65 where there are indicators of agricultural land conversion. Changes in agricultural land use show an impact on the vulnerability of farmers' livelihoods as evidenced by disasters on agricultural land, a decrease in agricultural production and diversification of livelihoods other than the agricultural sector. Comprehensive efforts involving the government, community, and private sector are needed.
