Abstract

Seiring berkembangnya zaman, jenis makanan juga semakin beragam. Terutama makanan yang diolah dengan cara digoreng sehingga banyak menghasilkan minyak goreng bekas. Minyak goreng bekas (minyak jelantah) sering dipakai secara berulang atau dibuang begitu saja ke tanah/saluran pembuangan saat tidak bisa digunakan lagi. Hal ini dapat berdampak buruk pada lingkungan sekitar dan jika dilakukan secara terus menerus akan minimbulkan dampak negatif bagi kelangsungan kehidupan manusia. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengedukasi masyarakat mengenai bahaya penggunaan minyak jelantah secara berulang dan bahaya membuang minyak jelantah terhadap lingkungan serta solusi untuk menanggulanginya, yaitu dengan mengolah minyak jelantah menjadi sabun. Peserta kegiatan ini adalah ibu-ibu PKK di Desa Penyasawan, Kecamatan Kampar, Kabupaten Kampar. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 26 juli s/d 10 Agustus 2022. Kegiatan ini terdiri dari tahap persiapan, sosialisasi, demo pembuatan sabun, dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini menunjukan bahwa para peserta sangat antusias dan menyimak selama proses berlangsung, hal ini dilihat dari banyak pertanyaan dan tanggapan dari peserta terkait kegiatan ini. Setelah kegiatan ini berlangsung diharapkan masyarakat akan semakin sadar dengan bahaya penggunaan mijel dan bisa memanfaatkan mijel menjadi produk yang lebih bermanfaat.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada bulan 10 Mei – 25 Juli 2019 di Balai Benih Ikan Ryan Farm, Limbungan Rumbai yang diikuti oleh petani ikan, mahasiswa kukerta terintegrasi dan tim pengabdian yang berjumlah 20 orang. Tujuan Kegiatan Pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan petani ikan tentang budidaya cacing sutra, sehingga tidak tergantung lagi kepada musim di alam. Sedangkan manfaatnya diharapkan dengan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan yang diperoleh oleh peserta maka dapat memanfaatkan unit pembenihan Ryan Farm untuk pengembangan budidaya cacing sutra sampai memproduksinya akibatnya tentu produksi larva ikan dapat meningkat yang akhirnya dapat meningkatkan income bagi masyarakat setempat. Kegiatan praktek budidaya cacing sutraini dilakukan langsung oleh para peserta. Dimulai dengan praktek pembuatan media cacing sutra kemudian dilanjutkan dengan budidaya cacing sutra diwadah baskom tahu ukuran 35x28x11 cm selama 3 minggu. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah setelah dilakukan penyuluhan dan pelatihan maka berdasarkan kuisioner yang diajukan ternyata terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat petani ikan tentang budidaya cacing sutra 90% sedangkan setelah dilakukan budidaya cacing sutra selama 3 minggu maka diperoleh cacing sutra seberat 109 g/wadah. Permasalahan yang ditemui selama praktek adalah tumbuhnya populasi cacing darah di wadah media budidaya cacing sutra.

Abstract

Bay leaf (Syzygium polyantha) has antibacterial compounds like flavonoid, tannin, alkaloid, essential oil, vitamin C, and minerals. The purpose of this study was to obtain the best dose of bay leaf solution to cure catfish infected by Aeromonas hydrophila and seen from total erythrocytes, hemoglobin levels, hematocrit levels, and morphology of erythrocytes. The method used is an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), one factor with five treatments. The treatment applied is Kn (without immersed with bay leaf solution and not infected by A.hydrophila), Kp (without immersed with bay leaf solution and infected by A.hydrophila), P1 (100 ppm), P2 (1100 ppm), P3 (1200 ppm). The curing is done by immersed with bay leaf solution for 5 minutes, carried out three times with an interval of 24 hours. The results show that bay leaf solution able to cure catfish infected by A.hydrophila. The best dose is 1200 ppm with total erythrocytes was 244 x 106 cell/mm3, hemoglobin level was 11,67 g/dL, hematocrit level was 34,33% and the survival rate was 96,67%. Water quality during the study is temperature 27,3-28,0°C, pH 6,5-6,8, DO 3,4-4,2 mg/L and ammonia 0,016-0,019 mg/L.

Abstract

Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) are probiotic-forming bacteria that have characteristics, like be able to ferment sugar or carbohydrates and produce lactic acid as the final product of fermentation. The purpose of this study was to obtain isolates of lactic acid bacteria from the digestive tract of Asian Swamp Eel (Monopterus albus) and to determine the inhibition produced by these lactic acid bacteria in inhibiting pathogenic bacteria such as Aeromonas hydrophila and Pseudomonas sp. The method was used in this study is experimental method, by taking the digestive tract of Asian Swamp Eel and then identifying the lactic acid bacteria and characterized by morphological and biochemical characteristics and tested of the antagonist against the pathogenic bacteria A.hydrophila and Pseudomonas sp. using the Kirby Bauer disc method (disc method). From the research results obtained 5 types of candidate lactic acid bacteria with each code BL121, BL263, BL142, BL242 and BL342. The five isolates of lactic acid bacteria were able to inhibit A.hydrophila and Pseudomonas sp. with a Inhibition range of 8-16 mm. Based on the results of the study, there were three isolates that had inhibitory power against bacteria A. hydrophila (12-16 mm) and Pseudomonas sp (11-13 mm) with codes BL121, BL263 and BL142 and were classified as strong. The identification results obtained are bacteria from the genus Bacillus sp.

Abstract

Streptococcus agalactiae is a pathogen that causes significant losses in tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) aquaculture. One alternative control is the use of natural ingredients such as fermented herbs. This study aims to analyze changes in the histopathological structure of the gills and liver of tilapia fish fed with feed containing fermented herbs after being infected with S. agalactiae. The research was conducted from March to December 2023 at the Laboratory of Parasites and Fish Diseases, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Riau and Bukittinggi Veterinary Center. The method used was a one-factor, completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replicates. The treatments consisted of negative control (Kn), positive control (Kp), and three feed treatments with fermented herbal medicine doses of 100 (P1), 125 (P2), and 150 mL/kg feed (P3). S. agalactiae infection was carried out on day 31 at a dose of 10⁸ CFU/mL. The results showed that the P3 treatment gave the best results, characterized by minimal damage to gill tissue (only hypertrophy) and liver (mild vacuolar degeneration) and the highest survival rate of 83.33%. In conclusion, adding fermented herbal medicine at a dose of 150 mL/kg feed can increase the immunity of tilapia against S. agalactiae infection, as shown through the improvement of organ tissue structure and improved survival

Abstract

Budidaya ikan nila mempunyai prospek yang cukup baik untuk dikembangkan merupakan salah satu jenis ikan air tawar. Salah satu usaha untuk memenuhi permintaan konsumen terhadap benih ikan nila adalah mengupayakan suatu teknik penanganan yang lebih khusus, agar didapatkan tingkat kematian benih ikan serendah mungkin selama proses transportasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas larutan daun pepaya dan dosis yang terbaik dalam transportasi. Metode penelitian menggunakan eksperimen dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan empat perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah larutan daun pepaya dengan dosis yang berbeda, yaitu 1.25, 2.50 dan 3.75 ml/L dimasukkan ke dalam kantong plastik berisi 8 L air. Perlakuan kontrol tidak diberi larutan daun pepaya. Benih ikan nila yang dimasukkan ke dalam kantong plastik masing-masing 20 ekor/kantong. Benih ikan nila ditrasportasikan selama lima jam menggunakan alat transportasi darat (mobil). Parameter yang diukur adalah konsentrasi kortisol serum, tingkat kelangsungan hidup dan analisis fitokimia daun pepaya (Carica papaya L.), yaitu alkaloid, saponin dan flavonoid. Kandungan fitokimia dari daun pepaya terdiri atas senyawa alkaloid, saponin dan flavonoid. Penggunaan larutan daun papaya dengan dosis yang berbeda memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap respons stres dan kelangsungan hidup pada benih ikan nila selama transportasi. Dosis larutan daun pepaya 3.75 mL/L air memberikan hasil yang terbaik dengan tingkat kadar kortisol 0.059±0.09 µg/dL dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup 100%. Larutan daun pepaya mampu menekan amonia dalam air dan menentukan tingkah laku ikan selama transportasi.

Abstract

Ikan nila merah (Oreochromis niloticus) merupakan salah satu komoditas perikanan yang memiliki potensi ekonomi tinggi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni sampai dengan November, 2023 di Laboratorium Parasit dan Penyakit Ikan, Fakultas Perikanan dan Kelautan Universitas Riau, Pekanbaru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian pakan mengandung probiotik terhadap hematologi ikan nila merah yang dipelihara dalam sistem bioflok. Metode yang digunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), dengan 4 taraf perlakuan dan 3 ulangan, yaitu P0 (kontrol), P1, P2 dan P3 adalah penambahan probiotik dengan dosis 10, 15 dan 20 mL/ kg Pakan. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa perlakuan terbaik pada penambahan probiotik sebanyak 15 mL/ kg Pakan dengan nilai total eritrosit 1,83 x 106 sel/mm3, nilai hematokrit 27,67%, kadar hemoglobin 12,67 g/dL, total leukosit 3,6 x 104 sel/mm3, kadar leukokrit 3,53%, limfosit 78,67% monosit 2,33% neutrofil 1,67% trombosit 17,33% dan tingkat kelulushidupan 96,67%. Kualitas air berkisar suhu 27-27,5 oC, pH 6,5-6,9, DO 5,2-5,4 mg/L, ammonia 0,004-0,005 mg/L. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh dapat disimpulkan bahwa pelet yang diperkaya probiotik mampu meningkatkan derajat kesehatan ikan nila merah
