Abstract

This study aims to describe the difficulties experienced by second-grade students in writing simple sentences at Landungsari 1 Public Elementary School and the factors that influence them. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, informal interviews with classroom teachers, and documentation of students' writing. The results of the study show that most students still experience difficulties in the mechanical aspects of writing, such as the use of capital letters, periods, consistency in letter form, letter size, and spacing. Difficulties in sentence structure were also found, such as missing subjects or predicates and irregular word order. Factors causing these difficulties included suboptimal fine motor skills, poor visual memory, lack of motivation to learn, and dependence on example sentences. External factors such as minimal parental guidance and a lack of literacy at home also exacerbated students' writing abilities. These findings confirm that difficulties in writing simple sentences are multifactorial and require varied learning interventions, ranging from strengthening fine motor skills, using visual media, process-based learning strategies, to increasing parental involvement in literacy activities. This study provides a basis for teachers to design more effective and contextual writing lessons.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the barriers to reading, writing, and arithmetic skills among first-grade students at SDN 5 Jambangan and to identify the internal and external factors influencing these difficulties. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and parents, and document analysis of students’ learning outcomes. The findings reveal that difficulties in reading, writing, and arithmetic are caused by a combination of internal factors, including low phonological awareness, underdeveloped cognitive abilities, weak fine motor skills, and low learning motivation. In addition, external factors contributing to these challenges include limited academic guidance at home, insufficient learning media and facilities, family communication patterns, and unsupportive learning environments. Observation results indicate that 14.8% of students experience difficulties in reading and writing, while 7.4% encounter challenges in arithmetic skills. These difficulties are primarily associated with low phonological awareness and inadequate fine motor development. The findings highlight that barriers to reading, writing, and arithmetic are multidimensional in nature and require integrated interventions involving both schools and families. This study recommends the enhancement of phonics-based instructional methods, strengthened early literacy and numeracy stimulation, and more intensive collaboration between teachers and parents to support the holistic development of students’ foundational academic skills.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of digital-based character education as a strategy to reduce cyberbullying at Muhammadiyah Limbung Senior High School in Indonesia. The research employed a qualitative case-study design. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with teachers and students as the research subjects. The findings indicate that digital-based character education was designed through a strategic planning process that involved selecting core character values, using relevant digital media, and adopting participatory learning approaches. Implementation was carried out by integrating character values into digital learning activities, such as anti-cyberbullying campaigns, digital ethics reflections, and student engagement with educational content on social media platforms. Supporting factors for the program’s success included the availability of digital infrastructure, teacher competence, supportive school policies, and parental participation. Conversely, inhibiting factors comprised students’ low digital ethics literacy, limited access to technology at home, insufficient teacher training, and minimal parental involvement. The study concludes that digital-based character education effectively fosters students’ ethical awareness and behavior in the online environment and significantly reduces incidents of cyberbullying within the madrasah. Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model combined with the Role Playing method in improving students’ understanding of civic education content in fifth-grade elementary classes. The study was motivated by the low student engagement and learning outcomes in Civic Education (PKn), which is still predominantly delivered through lectures. PBL encourages real-world problem-solving, while Role Playing allows students to experience civic roles firsthand through simulation.A qualitative approach with a case study design was used. The participants were 17 fifth-grade students at SD IT Tazkia Insani. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings revealed that the integration of PBL and Role Playing created a more engaging, student-centered learning environment. Students became more confident, collaborative, and critical in their thinking. Most importantly, students’ understanding of the topic “Duties and Roles of Mayors and Regents” significantly improved, both conceptually and in practical application.These results indicate that Civic Education is more effective when learning involves active participation and real-life context. The PBL model assisted by Role Playing is recommended as a strategy to enhance elementary students’ comprehension of civic concepts and promote character education.

Abstract

Purpose: This study explored the implementation of a Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach assisted by areca nut media to improve fourth-grade students’ understanding of mixed arithmetic operations at SD Negeri 2 Waisai during the 2025 academic year in a coastal 3T area where local cultural traditions remain preserved. Methods: This study employed an exploratory qualitative approach involving 28 fourth-grade students, one classroom teacher, and one school principal. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings: The findings revealed that areca nut media improved students’ conceptual and procedural understanding of mixed arithmetic operations, particularly in identifying operational sequences and explaining calculation processes. Students became more active in discussions, collaboration, and problem-solving activities, while their intrinsic motivation toward mathematics increased. The use of familiar local objects enabled students to connect abstract mathematical concepts with daily experiences, making learning more meaningful and engaging. School support through flexible policies and encouragement of local culture-based innovation strengthened the implementation of contextual learning. Research Implications:This study implies that local culture-based media can support meaningful and student-centered mathematics learning, particularly in remote elementary school contexts. However, the findings are limited to one school and one mathematical topic, requiring further studies in broader educational settings. Originality: This study highlights the integration of local wisdom through areca nut media within the CTL approach to support mathematics learning in coastal and remote 3T elementary school contexts.

Abstract

SD Muhammadiyah 4 Kota Malang, sebagai salah satu sekolah yang memiliki komitmen tinggi terhadap peningkatan mutu pendidikan, menyadari pentingnya adaptasi terhadap perkembangan teknologi ini. Namun, berdasarkan observasi awal, masih terdapat kesenjangan dalam pemahaman dan penerapan AI dalam penyusunan media pembelajaran di kalangan guru. Pendampingan penyusunan media pembelajaran berbasis AI menjadi langkah strategis untuk menjawab tantangan ini. Pendampingan berupa workshop pemanfaatan AI dalam pembelajaran ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam merancang dan mengimplementasikan media pembelajaran yang memanfaatkan teknologi AI, sehingga proses pembelajaran menjadi lebih efektif, interaktif, dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa. Metode yang dipakai yaitu metode pelatihan pembuatan media berbantuan AI. Hasil dari kegiatan ini yaitu media pembelajaran berbasis AI memiliki potensi untuk mengakomodasi berbagai gaya belajar siswa, memberikan umpan balik secara real-time, dan memperkaya pengalaman belajar melalui simulasi dan permainan edukatif yang didukung oleh AI.

Abstract

Pendidikan adalah pilar utama dalam pembangunan suatu bangsa, dan Sekolah Dasar (SD) sebagai fondasi awal pendidikan formal yang memiliki peran strategis dalam membentuk karakter peserta didik. Lingkungan sekolah yang aman, nyaman, dan ramah anak merupakan syarat penting untuk menciptakan suasana belajar yang kondusif. Pendekatan Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) relevan dalam menciptakan lingkungan pendidikan yang inklusif dan adil. Pengabdian yang dilakukan adalah mengkaji penerapan prinsip-prinsip GEDSI untuk mewujudkan Sekolah Ramah Anak di Kota Malang. Melalui program pendampingan yang meliputi pelatihan guru, sosialisasi, dan intervensi komunitas, ditemukan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman guru tentang GEDSI. Namun, tantangan dalam implementasi tersebut adalah kurangnya keterlibatan stakeholder dan sumber daya manusia yang terbatas. Pengabdian ini juga bertujuan untuk memperkuat kerjasama antara sekolah, orang tua, dan masyarakat dalam upaya menciptakan lingkungan pendidikan yang inklusif.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas terkait optimalisasi kearifan lokal melalui program rabu beradab di SD Negeri Sisir 03 Batu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dampak Program “Rabu Beradab” terhadap kearifan lokal di kalangan siswa sekolah dasar. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, observasi dan diperkuat dengan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa program ini memberikan dampak yang signifikan, terutama pada karakter siswa. Program ini juga mendorong nilai-nilai toleransi, kesopanan, dan kepercayaan diri. Siswa semakin terbiasa mengucapkan salam dan berbicara dengan sopan, yang berkontribusi pada suasana positif di sekolah dan membekali siswa dengan keterampilan sosial. Kepercayaan diri siswa meningkat, karena siswa merasa bangga menggunakan bahasa daerah tanpa rasa malu, yang menciptakan rasa memiliki terhadap budaya siswa. Secara keseluruhan, Rabu Beradab bukan hanya sekedar program pembelajaran, tetapi merupakan langkah penting dalam membentuk karakter generasi muda. Program ini berhasil menanamkan rasa percaya diri pada siswa, menjadikan mereka generasi yang cerdas secara akademis dan kaya akan nilai-nilai budaya.
