Abstract

Abstract. This research is a qualitative descriptive research that aim to determine the reading comprehension ability of German language descriptive text of students at SMA Negeri 3 Makassar. To determine the reading comprehension ability of German language descriptive texts, data was collected from 32 students from class XII10. The data were obtained through the results of reading comprehension ability tests consisting of three types of tests, namely multiple choice, true-false and questions about the text. The data obtained were analyzed using percentage techniques. The results of this study indicate that the reading comprehension ability of German language descriptive text of class XII10 students of SMA Negeri 3 Makassar is good category (78%).Keyword: Ability, Reading Comprehension, Text, Deskriptive

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to obtain data about the types of errors of students in class VIII of Wahdah Islamiyah Integrated Islamic Junior High School Makassar in writing nouns (isim) in Imla' learning. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The data in this research is the writing of nouns (isim) in imla' learning and the source of data in this research is obtained from the results of student worksheets from tests that describe the errors contained in the writing of nouns (isim) in imla' learning of class VIII students of Wahdah Islamiyah Integrated Islamic Junior High School Makassar. The instrument of this research is imla' test on nouns (isim). Data collected through imla' test on nouns (isim). The data obtained were classified into errors. From the results of data analysis, it is known that students' errors in writing nouns (isim) in imla' learning are 941 errors consisting of errors in writing hijaiyah letters as many as 404 (42.93%) errors, errors in writing letters that can and cannot be connected as many as 85 (9,03%) errors, errors in the placement of harakat as many as 293 (31.13%) errors, errors in writing alif lam shamsiyah and alif lam qamariyah as many as 23 (2.44%) errors, errors in the placement of hamzah letters as many as 92 (9.77%) errors and errors in writing Ta' letters as many as 44 (4.68%) errorsKeyword: errors, writing, nouns (isim), imla' learning

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the linguistic quality of postgraduate dissertations through interpersonal metafunctional analysis based on the Systemic Functional Linguistics and Appraisal Theory approaches. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with discourse analysis on three dissertations from Makassar State University. The results of the analysis indicate that students are able to apply mood, modality, and evaluative attitudes fairly well, particularly in maintaining objectivity and consistency in academic style. However, weaknesses were identified in the variation of epistemic modality expressions and evaluative lexical justifications. These findings emphasize the importance of strengthening academic learning based on interpersonal functions to enable students to construct more credible and reflective arguments in scientific texts.

Abstract

Writing skills play an important role in supporting academic and professional communication, especially in the technology-dominated digital era. This study uses a qualitative approach to analyse students' ability to structure paragraphs, discover their strengths and weaknesses, and explore the influence of digital technology in learning to write. The findings show that students face challenges in constructing topic sentences, developing ideas, and stringing together relevant supporting sentences. Digital media, such as social media and blended learning, help them understand different types of writing, but the quality of the paragraphs produced has not met academic standards. The use of digital technologies, including platforms such as Facebook, improved students' motivation and writing performance and helped distinguish between informal and formal writing. The blended technology-based learning approach is effective in gradually improving writing skills, although further strategies are needed to ensure the quality of writing meets academic standards in the digital era. This research makes a novel contribution by presenting an innovative approach that leverages specific digital platforms, such as Facebook, supplemented with metadata to analyse its impact on the development of academic writing skills. Keywords: paragraph writing skills; learning; technology Abstrak Keterampilan menulis memiliki peran penting dalam mendukung komunikasi akademik dan profesional, terutama di era digital yang didominasi teknologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif untuk menganalisis kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menyusun paragraf, menemukan kelebihan dan kelemahan mereka, serta mengeksplorasi pengaruh teknologi digital dalam pembelajaran menulis. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa menghadapi tantangan dalam menyusun kalimat topik, mengembangkan ide, dan merangkai kalimat pendukung yang relevan. Media digital, seperti media sosial dan pembelajaran campuran, membantu mereka memahami berbagai jenis tulisan, tetapi kualitas paragraf yang dihasilkan belum memenuhi standar akademik. Penggunaan teknologi digital, termasuk platform seperti Facebook, meningkatkan motivasi dan performa menulis mahasiswa serta membantu membedakan tulisan informal dan formal. Pendekatan pembelajaran berbasis teknologi campuran efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis secara bertahap, meskipun diperlukan strategi lebih lanjut untuk memastikan kualitas tulisan memenuhi standar akademik di era digital. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi baru dengan menghadirkan pendekatan inovatif yang memanfaatkan platform digital tertentu, seperti Facebook, yang dilengkapi dengan metadata untuk menganalisis dampaknya terhadap pengembangan keterampilan menulis akademik. Abstract

Critical thinking and problem-solving are key 21st-century competencies that determine students’ academic success and life readiness. Although numerous studies have been conducted, most have focused on dispositional aspects and learning strategies, whereas the dimensions of self-confidence and systematic thinking have remained relatively underexplored. This study addresses this gap by examining differences in critical thinking and problem-solving skills based on literacy, gender, socioeconomic status (SES), and maternal educational background. Using a cross-sectional survey design, data were collected from 1,797 junior secondary students in Makassar, Indonesia. Statistical analyses using t-tests and one-way ANOVA were employed to examine mean differences across groups. Results revealed that students with higher reading–writing literacy demonstrated greater self-confidence and more systematic thinking. Female students outperformed males in reflective aspects of critical thinking and problem-solving, whereas SES differences appeared only in the essential systematicity of thinking. No significant differences were found based on maternal education. These findings highlight literacy as the strongest differentiating factor in students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In practice, the study underscores the importance of interdisciplinary, literacy-based instruction to strengthen students’ higher-order thinking skills. Future research should employ longitudinal and mixed-method approaches to explore the mediating role of the cultural environment in shaping young learners’ critical cognition in developing countries.

Abstract

Abstrak. Tujuan pelaksanaan kegiatan ini yakni untuk meningkatnya pemahaman dan keterampilan editor jurnal mengenai pengelolaan jurnal ilmiah sehingga nantinya membantu mereka untuk mendapatkan akreditasi jurnal yang lebih baik.  Terdapat 4 tahap dalam kegiatan ini yakni berupa analisis kebutuhan pelaksanaan program, pengembangan materi pelatihan, pelaksanaan pelatihan, dan evaluasi kegiatan.  Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi pada saat pelatihan dan pasca pendampingan, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan manajemen jurnal ilmiah untuk para editor jurnal dinilai dapat membantu dalam percepatan akreditasi jurnal. Selain itu, proses pendampingan yang diberikan kepada editor jurnal membantu mereka dalam mempersiapkan jurnalnya untuk pengajuan akreditasi Sinta. Hasil evaluais tersebut menjadi rekomendasi bahwa kegiatan ini sangat penting untuk dilakukan kedepannya sebagai bentuk peningkatan kapasitas editor jurnal dalam lingkup Universitas Negeri Makassar. Kata Kunci: Jurnal, Editor Jurnal, Akreditasi Sinta, Manajemen Jurnal

Abstract

Abstrak. Tujuan pelaksanaan kegiatan ini yakni untuk meningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Jerman dalam menulis proposal Proposal Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PKM). Kegiatan ini dilakukan sebagai bentuk program peningkatan produktivitas mahasiswa yang bersifat non-akademik.  Terdapat 4 tahap dalam kegiatan ini yakni berupa analisis kebutuhan pelaksanaan program, pengembangan materi pelatihan, pelaksanaan pelatihan, dan evaluasi kegiatan. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi pada saat pelatihan dan pasca pendampingan, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan ini dapat meningkatkan pemahaman dan motivasi mahasiswa dalam menulis proposal Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa. Indikator utama yang dapat dilihat adalah dari jumlah mahasiswa yang berpartisipasi dalam mengirimkan proposal Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa dan jumlah mahasiswa yang berhasil mendapatkan pendanaan PKM dari Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi. Kata Kunci: Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa, Proposal, Produktivitas Mahasiswa

Abstract

Abstrak. Strategi pembelajaran yang didasarkan pada pembelajaran inovatif dapat menghasilkan pendidikan inovatif yang kreatif. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk dilakukan pelatihan untuk peningkatan pemahaman guru mengenai penerapan model pembelajaran inovatif di Sulawesi Barat. Pendekatan yang dipersonalisasi digunakan selama proses pelatihan. Selama pelatihan, pendekatan ceramah, diskusi, praktik, dan bimbingan digunakan untuk memberikan pemahaman mengenai model pembelajaran inovatif kepada pesera. Setelah mengiktui pelatihan ini, pemahaman guru meningkat secara signifikan, yaitu sebesar 83 persen. Guru telah memahami dengan baik mengenai model pembelajaran inovatif dan dapat menerapkannya di kelas mereka masing-masing. Guru menganngap bahwa pelatihan ini sangat bermanfaat bagi perkembangan profesionalitas mereka dan pemkembangan peserta didik mereka. Kata kunci: inovatif, pelatihan, guru, project based learning, Sulawesi Barat

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the function of assertive speech acts contained in the novel Calabai by Pepi Al-Bayqunie. Assertive speech act is a type of speech act that states something in accordance with reality, such as stating, informing, recommend, refuting, emphasizing, demanding, reporting, denying, disprove, hinting, boasting, complaining, and claiming. This study examines how the characters in the novel use assertive speech acts to express opinions, explain facts, and form social relations. The research is conducted by using pragmatic approach based on Searle's theory then the functions are mapped based on Leech's theory. The results show that the functions of assertive speech acts in this novel include cooperative functions, competitive functions, conflicting functions, and fun functions. These functions illustrate the social values and Bugis culture. Thus, the assertive speech acts in the novel Calabai not only function as a communication tool, but also as a means of conveying social criticism and strengthening identity.

Abstract

Abstrak. Tujuan PKM ini adalah meningkatkan kemampuan siswa menulis paragraf berbasis lingkungan, memberdayakan siswa dengan keterampilan merancang paragraf, dan meningkatkan kemampuan empati, pemahaman sosial, dan keterampilan kognitif terhadap lingkungan. Permasalahan mitra adalah ketidakmampuan mitra menulis paragraf berbasis lingkungan, ketidakmampuan mitra membentuk paragraf berpola dedukti dan induktif berbasis lingkungan kumuh, dan ketidakpedulian mitra terhadap tanggung jawab lingkungan. Mitra PKM ini adalah 15 orang siswa SMA Negeri 9 Gowa. Pada tahap persiapan, Tim pengabdi melakukan FGD untuk membahas mengenai persiapan penyajian materi pelatihan Siswa SMA Neg 9 Gowa. Pada tahap pelaksanaan, tim pengabdi menyampaikan materi penulisan paragraf berbasis lingkungan kumuh. Teknik penyampaian dilakukan melalui berbagai kegiatan yang berupa kegiatan tutorial, pelatihan, workshop, dan pendampingan. Evaluasi dilakukan untuk mengetahui tingkat pencapaian kegiatan dengan melakukan tanya jawab kepada peserta.Hasil pelaksanaan pengabdian pada Masyarakat di SMA Negeri 9 Gowa  dengan peserta sebanyak 15 siswa, yaitu pertama, siswa setelah diberikan pelatihan memiliki kesanggupan menyusun paragraf  berdasarkan gambar dan tayangan video lingkungan kumuh. Gagasan dan ide dikembangkan oleh siswa mencerminkan adanya kepekaan mengenai lingkungan kumuh. Kedua, siswa dalam memanfaatkan teknologi Pemeriksa Tata Bahasa memiliki kemampuan dengan berbagai fitur dan kegiatan sudah sesuai target pencapaian karena semua siswa memiliki kesanggupan yang memadai dalam menyusun paragraf dengan baik. Kata kunci: paragraf, deduktif, induktif, lingkungan kumuh,  pemeriksa tata bahasa
