Abstract

This article examines the efforts of Islamic Religious Education teachers in overcoming learning boredom among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Bungi. Learning boredom is one of the common problems in the learning process, characterized by a decline in students’ interest, motivation, and participation, particularly in Islamic Religious Education subjects. This study aims to describe the forms of learning boredom experienced by students, analyze the factors contributing to learning boredom, and examine the strategies employed by Islamic Religious Education teachers to address this issue. The research adopts a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving Islamic Religious Education teachers and fourth-grade students. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that learning boredom is influenced by internal factors, such as low learning motivation and concentration, as well as external factors, including the use of less varied teaching methods and limited learning media. The efforts undertaken by Islamic Religious Education teachers to overcome learning boredom include varying teaching methods, utilizing simple instructional media, implementing active and enjoyable learning activities, and providing motivation and role modeling. This study concludes that the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers is crucial in creating a conducive and engaging learning environment, thereby minimizing students’ learning boredom and enhancing the quality of Islamic Religious Education learning.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the PADC (Plan, Do, Check, Act) cycle, adapted from the Kemmis & McTaggart model, in improving the numeracy skills of fourth-grade students at Tumih Elementary School. The background of the problem indicates the low numeracy skills of students in the class and the urgency to find innovative learning approaches. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), involving a series of interventions, observations, and interviews to identify positive shifts. The research findings significantly indicate a substantial improvement in students' numeracy skills. Concrete data shows that the average pre-test score of students was only 30, which then after repeated implementation of the PADC cycle, increased sharply to 70. This 40-point increase demonstrates the effectiveness of the PADC cycle in improving academic performance. Furthermore, the post-intervention condition also showed better material retention and increased student confidence. The conclusion of this study is that the PADC cycle has proven to be a highly effective framework for continuous learning improvement, not only significantly improving numeracy skills in fourth-grade students at Tumih Elementary School but also empowering teachers as adaptive change agents. This approach plays a crucial role in creating a more responsive and effective learning environment tailored to students' needs.

Abstract

Introduction: Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women results from prolonged malnutrition, particularly insufficient energy and protein intake. This condition significantly increases the risk of maternal and infant mortality, low birth weight (LBW), and contributes to stunting in children. This study aims to identify the determinants influencing the incidence of CED among pregnant women in the stunting. Method: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted among 201 pregnant women selected through purposive sampling from 30 stunting-prone villages. Data collection involved Android-based questionnaires and anthropometric measurements using Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC). Statistical analyses included chi-square tests for bivariate analysis and logistic regression for multivariate analysis. Results: The prevalence of CED among the participants was 15.9%. Significant factors associated with CED included maternal age (p=0.000; OR=2.79; 95% CI: 1.67–4.64), employment status (p=0.016; OR=6.73; 95% CI: 1.58–27.94), antenatal care visits (p=0.004; OR=11.31; 95% CI: 2.71–28.19), pregnancy spacing (p=0.023; OR=6.80; 95% CI: 1.31–26.8), family smoking history (p=0.002; OR=0.45; 95% CI: 0.27–0.75), and family income (p=0.013; OR=5.24; 95% CI: 1.73–26.02). Conclusion: CED among pregnant women is significantly influenced by age, occupational status, antenatal care frequency, pregnancy interval, family exposure to cigarette smoke, and low household income. Strengthening antenatal care services, promoting family planning, enhancing nutrition education, and mitigating environmental risk factors such as secondhand smoke exposure are essential strategies to reduce CED and its adverse health outcomes.
