Abstract

The success or failure of a student in education depends on the learning process experienced by the student. The teachers can provide more varied learning in order to improve student learning outcomes. This study aims to analyze the influence of the character of discipline and learning motivation as well as variations in teaching on the economics learning outcomes of students in grade X. The type of research used is explanatory research with survey method. The population in the study were all students in class X high school, using random sampling so that the research sample was all participants in class X high school. The research instrument used in this study was a questionnaire while the learning outcomes were taken from the student's learning scores. The data analysis technique in this study is to use path analysis (path analysis) in its implementation is carried out through the SPSS program. There is an influence between student characters on student learning outcomes. The character of discipline and learning motivation have a positive effect on student learning outcomes because learning outcomes will increase if the character of learning discipline increases and is followed by learning motivation and student learning outcomes can be bad if students are not instilled with the character of discipline and motivation in learning. Variations given by the teacher can develop student learning outcomes if they have various kinds of teaching variations.

Abstract

Improving the quality of learning in mechanical engineering is a major challenge in the field of mechanical engineering, especially in understanding complex concepts such as statics and dynamics. This study aims to improve the effectiveness of the use of computer simulation and animation as an innovative learning tool in mechanical engineering. This study used a mixed approach (mixed methods) with a quasi-experimental design involving 94 mechanical engineering students from three universities in Indonesia who were divided into an experimental group using simulation and animation modules (n=50) and a control group using conventional methods (n=50). The results showed that the use of this technology increased students' understanding by 25% compared to 10% in the traditional method, with a significant difference in the post-test (t(92)=3.87, p=0.0002, Cohen's d=0.79). The experimental group also reported a higher level of engagement (85% vs 62%) and a significant reduction in cognitive load (NASA-TLX: 32.4 vs 45.7). Qualitative analysis revealed that visualization helped students connect theory with practical applications, in line with the principles of Cognitive Load Theory and Cognitive-Affective Learning Theory with Media. Although effective, the study identified implementation challenges such as software development costs, educator training needs, and disparities in technology access across institutions in Indonesia. The study concluded that computer simulation and animation have transformative potential to improve the quality of mechanical engineering education, with recommendations for future development through the integration of immersive technologies such as Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality that support the Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate (CDIO) approach in preparing the workforce to face the demands of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Contextual Teaching and Learning method in improving student learning outcomes in Islamic Education at SMP Negeri 7 Kaway. The research design used was a quasi-experimental, with two groups: the experimental group that received learning through the CTL method, and the control group that followed the conventional learning method. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test, classroom observation, and interviews with students, teachers, and parents. The results showed a significant increase in the post-test scores of the experimental group, with an average increase of 20 points, compared to an increase of 9 points in the control group. Observations showed that students in the experimental group were more active in participating in learning activities and showed a better understanding of the material. Interviews revealed that the CTL method helped students connect the material to their life experiences, making the learning process more relevant and meaningful. These findings indicate that the Contextual Teaching and Learning method is an effective approach to improving student learning outcomes in Islamic Education. This study emphasizes the importance of interactive learning methods that are student-centered and connect academic material to real-world contexts. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that educators implement CTL strategies to increase student engagement, critical thinking, and application of knowledge in everyday life.

Abstract

In the process of building a ship, electrical and lighting installation is one of the important components in the construction of a ship that concerns every room on the ship. This study conducted tests on the study of LED lights in the room above the ship. The method used is the zonal cavity method with division in one room into three parts, namely the height ceiling cavity (hcc), height room cavity (hrc), and height floor cavity (hfc) as well as determining the illumination value according to the standards set for each room. And the results obtained for the lamp power at TASA 22 by using the type of lighting with the LED type obtained a lighting electric load of 1.483 Kw. The results of this study provide for the fact that from various other research sources, it is concluded that LED lamps are better than TL lamps.

Abstract

Salah satu teknologi saat ini yang banyak digunakan untuk menghasilkan pendapatan yaitu teknologi penyambungan material logam yang biasanya disebut pengelasan (welding). Salah satu contoh produk hasil pengelasan yang kini punya pasar (market) dan menjadi opsi berwirausaha yaitu kanopi rumah. Namun, produk hasil pengelasan lain yang dapat dikomersilkan masih banyak seperti rak sepatu, tiang lampu dan lain-lain. Semakin berkembangnya Kota Balikpapan dengan masifnya pembangunan kawasan perumahan dari tahun ke tahun menjadikan permintaan produk hasil las sangat tinggi. Dengan demikian, untuk memenuhi permintaan pasar yang begitu besar terhadap kebutuhan keahlian mengelas, maka perlu dilakukan pelatihan kepada masyarakat terkait pemanfaatan teknologi pengelasan ini. Dalam hal ini, masyarakat yang menjadi sasaran kegiatan pelatihan dan unjuk kerja teknologi pengelasan yaitu salah satu kelompok masyarakat yang terdapat di Kelurahan Karang Joang. Karang Joang sebagai salah satu kelurahan di kecamatan Balikpapan Utara menjadi salah satu daerah yang memiliki pembangunan perumahan yang sangat tinggi utamanya di wilayah jalan Batu Ratna KM. 11. Terdapat kurang lebih 9 perumahan yang saat ini masih melakukan tahap pembangunan yang terbentang sepanjang ± 3 KM. Olehnya itu, tingkat kebutuhan akan produk hasil las sangat tinggi. Mitra yang akan dijadikan pada kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini yaitu kelompok Pengurus Mushollah Baitussalam Karang Joang KM. 11 yang terdiri dari 20 orang anggota pengurus. Mitra ini dipilih karena anggota pengurus belum memiliki pemahaman dan keterampilan terkait teknologi pengelasan. Selain itu, potensi usaha produk hasil las untuk di kawasan ini sangat tinggi. Mitra diberikan bekal penyuluhan teori teknologi pengelasan dan kewirausahaan. Selain itu mitra berkesempatan unjuk kerja mengelas dan berhasil menghasilkan produk hasil las berupa tiang lampu dari bahan pipa carbon steel sebanyak 15 batang.

Abstract

Setiap kapal sebelum dioperasikan wajib dilakukan pengukuran untuk menentukan ukuran panjang, lebar, dalam dan tonase kapal sesuai dengan metode pengukuran kapal yang telah diatur dalam PM Perhubungan Nomor 8 Tahun 2013 tentang Pengukuran Kapal. Salah satu ukuran utama kapal yang harus dihitung pada kapal yang dibuat adalah Gross Tonage (GT) yang berfungsi untuk pendataan kapal dan system administrasi yang berkaitan dengan pajak, sewa pelabuhan, asuransi dan docking space. Melalui program pengabdian ini kami bermaksud untuk mengadakan pelatihan pengukuran kapasitas Gross Tonage pada kapal nelayan traditional. Manfaat yang diperoleh dari program pelatihan ini adalah peningkatan kemampuan mitra sebagai pemilik kapal dan masyarakat untuk mampu menghitung tonase kapal yang dimiliki. Mitra yang terlibat dalam kegiatan ini adalah nelayan pada Kelompok Usaha Bersama (KUB). Mitra Nelayan Muara Baru di Muara Tunan, Tanjung Tengah, Penajam Paser Utara. Harapannya, para nelayan yang merupakan anggota dari kelompok nelayan tersebut melalui kegiatan ini akan dapat bersinergi dengan pemerintah daerah berkaitan dengan sertifikasi kesempurnaan kapal. Program-program untuk pengembangan kualitas dan peningkatan produksi kapal tradisional dapat berjalan seiring yaitu dengan memanfaatkan data ukuran utama kapal untuk analisa unjuk kerja kapal tradisional.

Abstract

Poros baling-baling kapal memegang peran krusial dalam sistem propulsi, mengalirkan tenaga dari mesin utama ke baling-baling untuk menciptakan daya dorong. Poros ini menopang beban tarik dan puntir yang dapat menyebabkan kegagalan fatik pada material. Fokus utama dalam penelitian ini yaitu ada pada uji tarik Stainless Steel (SS 304), Stainless Steel (SS 316), dan Stainless Steel (SS 316L) sebagai bahan poros baling-baling kapal, dengan tujuan memastikan kecocokannya sesuai standar Badan Klasifikasi Indonesia (BKI). Spesimen uji dibentuk sesuai ASTM A370 dan dianalisis dengan mesin UTM (Universal testing machine). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa SS 304 memiliki kekuatan tarik maksimum 800,4 MPa dengan kekuatan luluh 692,4 MPa, SS 316 dengan kekuatan tarik 769,9 MPa dan kekuatan luluh 553 MPa, serta SS 316L dengan kekuatan tarik 706,2 MPa dan kekuatan luluh 567,5 MPa. SS 304 menonjol sebagai pilihan superior berdasarkan nilai kekuatan. Uji kekuatan tarik telah memenuhi standar BKI, menandakan bahwa SS 304 dapat diandalkan sebagai bahan poros baling-baling. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan kritis terkait performa material dalam lingkungan maritim, memberikan kontribusi penting pada pengembangan teknologi kapal yang aman dan efisien.

Abstract

his study aims to evaluate the mechanical properties of welded joints produced using the Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) method on BS 1501 223 490B steel material. The evaluation was carried out through destructive testing, including tensile test, bend test, and Charpy impact test. The tensile test revealed a maximum tensile strength of 584.39 N/mm² on the All Weld specimen, with an elongation of 26.23%. In the Transverse test, fracture occurred in the base metal, indicating that the weld joint had superior quality compared to the parent material. The bend test on both Face Bend and Root Bend specimens showed visually "Satisfactory" results, with maximum stress reaching 2,122.55 N/mm². The Charpy V-notch impact test indicated an average absorbed energy of 109.98 Joules at room temperature, demonstrating good toughness under impact loading. The results confirm that welded joints produced by the SAW method on BS 1501 223 490B steel exhibit excellent strength, ductility, and toughness, making them suitable for structural and high-pressure applications. This study reinforces the effectiveness of the SAW method in producing high-quality joints in the metal fabrication industry.

Abstract

Balikpapan Bay connects Balikpapan City with the new capital city of the Republic of Indonesia (IKN). Currently, many community activities in Balikpapan Bay include functioning as a crossing, loading and unloading, and fishing. Balikpapan Bay also offers an unforgettable water tourism experience with many intriguing attractions for all ages, such as water slides and diving. IKN is utilized by the development of marine transportation to create marine tourism potential in Balikpapan Bay. The purpose of the research project is to build a tourist phinisi ship that allows tourists from within and outside the country to spend their free time on board and enjoy the splendor of Balikpapan City and IKN with a cultural concept. Phinisi will be equipped with lodging, museums, cafes, and restaurants, all depending on the design of the boat. The research stages include designing a general arragement that produces data in the form of main dimensions, hull form coefficients, lines plans, general arrangements, 3D designs, and interior rooms. The research method used is the parentship approach. The main dimensions obtained in my final assignment include; loa = 55 m, B = 9 m, H = 5 m, T = 3.5 m, Vs = 9 Knots, Crew 11 people, passengers = 15 people

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the expository method on students&#39;learning outcomes in Social Studies (IPS) subjects for fifth-grade students at SDMuhammadiyah Perumnas, Makassar City. This research employed a quantitativeapproach using a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttestdesign. The study involved 17 students, consisting of 7 boys and 10 girls. Datawere collected through pretest and posttest assessments and analyzed usingdescriptive and inferential statistics through a paired sample t-test. The analysisresults showed an increase in the average student score from 66.47 (pretest) to82.65 (posttest), with a difference of 16.18 points. The normality test indicated thatthe data were normally distributed (significance = 0.200), and the t-test resultsshowed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores(significance = 0.000< 0.05). Therefore, it can be concluded that the expositorymethod has a significant effect on improving studentsSocial Studies learningoutcomes. This method is effective for classroom instruction because it deliversmaterial systematically and enhances students understanding of key concepts inthe subject.
