Abstract

Educational management at the elementary school level plays a crucial role in improving the quality of learning. A major issue encountered is the lack of optimal integration between educational philosophical values and management theories in school practices. This study aims to analyze the integration of humanism, essentialism, and progressivism with educational management theories in elementary school management practices. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach conducted at SDN 068 INP Marannu, involving the principal and teachers as research subjects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and questionnaires, and analyzed using source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that humanistic values serve as the foundation for school policy-making, management functions based on POAC and the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) are implemented adaptively, and stakeholder collaboration operates effectively. In conclusion, school management practices have contextually integrated educational philosophy and management theories to support the improvement of learning quality in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of educational commercialization and inclusivity strategies in the implementation of elementary education in urban areas. The issue examined arises from the increasing tendency to position education as a commodity, which potentially limits access to and equity in education for students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach conducted at SD Negeri 18 Kalosi and SD Negeri 103 Kalosi. Data were collected through interviews with school principals, teachers, and parents, observations of student admission processes and learning activities, analysis of school documents, and group discussions with students. The findings indicate that, in general, schools have made efforts to implement principles of equity and inclusivity through student admission policies aligned with government regulations and relatively non-discriminatory learning practices. However, educational commercialization is still evident through differences in school fees, admission selection processes, and limited access to certain activities that require additional financial support, which may hinder the participation of students from underprivileged families. Teachers play a crucial role in reducing these disparities through differentiated instruction, group work, and additional learning support. This study concludes that although inclusivity efforts have been implemented, educational commercialization remains a challenge in achieving equitable and dignified elementary education, thus requiring stronger policy reinforcement and more systematic structural support. Keywords: Educational Commercialization, Educational Inclusivity, Social Justice.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of learning flexibility, differentiated instruction, and the Project for Strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile (P5) within the Merdeka Curriculum at SDN 18 Kalosi, particularly in Grade IV. The background of this study is the presence of challenges in implementing student-centered learning, including teacher readiness, student characteristics, and parental involvement. This research seeks to analyze the learning practices applied, identify the obstacles and opportunities in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, and describe teacher and school innovations in developing teaching modules and carrying out P5 activities. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through interviews, classroom observations, document analysis, and focus group discussions involving the school principal, teachers, students, and parents. The findings indicate that teachers have implemented flexibility by adjusting learning time, learning spaces, and instructional flow, as well as applying differentiated instruction by providing students with choices of activities and project outputs based on their interests and abilities. The implementation of P5 was conducted in a simple yet contextual manner and was able to enhance student engagement, creativity, and character development. However, several challenges were still identified, including limited teacher understanding of project-based assessment, differences in student readiness, and varying levels of parental participation. Overall, the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and P5 demonstrates positive progress and offers opportunities to strengthen more meaningful and student-centered learning. Keywords: Merdeka Curriculum, Differentiated Instruction, Project for Strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile (P5).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the management functions Planning, Organizing, Actuating, and Controlling (POAC) and to evaluate the scope of elementary school management at UPTD SDN 116 Allu, Maros Regency. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using audit-based analysis. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, observations, and document analysis involving the principal, teachers, and educational staff. Abstract

Strategic planning is a fundamental component of elementary school management to ensure sustainable educational quality. This study aims to analyze strategic planning practices at SD Aisyiyah Muhammadiyah 3, focusing on the formulation of the school’s vision, mission, and goals; the preparation of the School Development Plan (RPS), School Work Plan (RKS), and School Activity and Budget Plan (RKAS); as well as the implementation of performance indicators and the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI). This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, document analysis, and questionnaires. The findings indicate that the school’s strategic planning has been implemented in a participatory manner involving the foundation, school committee, teachers, and parents. School programs are strongly aligned with the formulated vision and mission, particularly in strengthening Islamic character education and student potential development. However, the implementation of SPMI remains at an early stage, and school performance indicators are largely based on external standards. This study recommends strengthening SPMI, developing contextual performance indicators, and implementing data-based planning to improve the quality of elementary education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of the philosophical foundations of education and management theory in elementary school management practices at SDN 89 Lappa, Sinjai Regency. The research problem stems from the persistence of administrative school managerial practices that do not fully reflect the philosophical values of education. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, direct observation, documentation studies, and questionnaires, with the principal and teachers as research participants. Data analysis was conducted qualitatively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, and its validity was tested through triangulation of sources and techniques. The results show that managerial practices at SDN 89 Lappa have integrated the values of humanism, essentialism, and progressivism in a relatively balanced manner. This integration is reflected in learning policies, student development, and school decision-making. From a management perspective, the school applies classical management functions (POAC) enriched with modern and contemporary management principles, such as continuous improvement, data-based decision-making, and a participatory approach. These findings indicate that effective elementary school management requires the integration of philosophical values and management theory as a foundation for holistic, quality-oriented educational management.

Abstract

The urgency of this study arises from the suboptimal integration of Total Quality Management (TQM) principles and School Self-Evaluation (EDM) in managing the quality of basic education, particularly in ensuring continuous, data-driven improvement. Previous studies have predominantly examined TQM or EDM separately, resulting in a limited understanding of their combined implementation within elementary school contexts. This study aims to analyze the implementation of basic education quality management through the integration of TQM and EDM, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing its application. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis as primary data collection techniques. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that EDM functions as a strategic foundation for quality planning and control through the PPEPP cycle (Establishment, Implementation, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement), which aligns closely with core TQM principles such as continuous improvement, stakeholder involvement, and evidence-based decision making. These results imply that the integration of TQM and EDM strengthens a systematic and sustainable quality management system in elementary schools. The novelty of this study lies in an integrative conceptual framework that positions EDM as a strategic instrument in the implementation of TQM within basic education, an area that has received limited scholarly attention. This research contributes theoretically to the advancement of educational quality management studies and practically provides guidance for schools and policymakers in improving basic education quality through self-evaluation-based management.
