Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of Red Dragon Fruit Puree (RDP) added to yogurt ice cream on its sensory, physical and chemical characteristics as well as its anti-obesity effect on mice fed with high-fat diet. To obtain the optimal addition level, RDP was added to the yogurt-based ice cream dough in various proportions: 0 (control), 10, 20, 30, and 40%. The sensory evaluation signifies that 30% RDP addition results in the best yogurt ice cream because it produces favorable flavor, attractive color (purplish pink), and the most preferable taste for the panelist. Data on physical and chemical characteristics showed that RDP yogurt ice cream has lower overrun, total solid, fat, carbohydrate, and calorie content than non-RDP yogurt ice cream (p<0.05). The animal test identified that consumption of RDP yogurt ice cream for 14 days could reduce the mice’s (a xenograft model) body weight under normal and high-fat diet conditions (p<0.05). Thus, RDP yogurt ice cream with specific physical and chemical characteristics potentially results in anti-obesity effects in pre-clinic setting. RDP yogurt ice cream merits further studies, especially for clinical test, before the commercialization stage.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the validity of telephone conversation recordings as evidence in civil disputes. This research was conducted using the Normative research method, also called doctrinal legal research, which is often conceptualized as what is written in laws and regulations or law is conceptualized as a rule or norm that is a benchmark for human behavior that is considered appropriate. The results of this study are that telephone conversation recordings can be strong evidence in civil disputes as long as they are obtained legally, do not violate privacy rights, and are accountable for their authenticity. The legal force of electronic evidence in civil cases basically depends on how the evidence can be verified and proven authentic in court. If the validity of electronic evidence can be proven, for example through expert witnesses or digital devices that can confirm its validity, then it can be considered with almost the same strength as written evidence in this case. However, in practice, electronic evidence often has a weaker position compared to letters in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Code, especially because electronic evidence can be more susceptible to forgery or manipulation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the development of Qur’anic chronology theory as formulated by Orientalist scholars, with particular focus on Gustav Weil, William Muir, Theodor Nöldeke, and Hubert Grimme. Through a detailed analysis of the theoretical and methodological frameworks they established, this research employs a qualitative, library-based methodology, utilizing historical-critical approaches and comparative analysis to trace paradigm shifts in the construction of Qur’anic chronology. The findings reveal that the evolution of Qur’anic chronological theory occurred through several interconnected intellectual phases. Weil initiated the discourse by integrating classical Islamic narratives with Western historical methods within a historical-rational framework; Muir foregrounded biographical and theological dimensions by correlating revelation with the Prophet’s life trajectory; Nöldeke introduced a pivotal methodological transformation through his philological and linguistic approach; and Grimme emphasized dogmatic elements and theological development within the Qur’anic corpus. The progression of these theories was shaped by advancements in philology, debates concerning textual authenticity, colonial political contexts, and epistemological exchanges between Western and Muslim scholars. The study’s implications demonstrate that the construction of chronology within Orientalist discourse is neither monolithic nor static but rather continuously evolves in response to its intellectual and sociopolitical milieu. This dynamic has also fostered renewed interest in tartīb nuzūlī methodologies among contemporary Muslim scholars such as Sayyid Qutb, Bint al-Syāṭi’, and al-Jābirī, particularly in addressing the imperative for thematic and historical interpretation in Qur’anic studies.

Abstract

Indonesia generated approximately 12.87 million tons of plastic waste in 2023, highlighting the urgent need to develop biodegradable alternatives such as edible films. This study investigated the effect of sodium alginate - gum arabic ratios on the physical and mechanical properties of edible films, combined with a calcium lactate spray activation technique aimed at enhancing film crosslinking, fasten gelling speed and improve performance. A completely randomized design with four treatments (1:1, 2:1, 3:1, and 4:1 ratios of sodium alginate and gum arabic) and five replications was applied. Parameters evaluated included thickness, water vapor transmission rate (WVTR), tensile strength, elongation, and microscopic morphology. Results showed that higher sodium alginate concentrations significantly increased film thickness (0.023– 0.094 mm) and significantly improved barrier properties, as indicated by lower WVTR values (69–94 g/m²/day). Tensile strength varied across treatments, reaching the highest value at the 1:1 ratio (8.24 MPa), while elongation peaked at the 2:1 ratio (30.94%), suggesting an optimal balance between flexibility and strength. Microscopic observation revealed fewer air bubbles and more homogeneous structures at higher sodium alginate levels. The introduction of calcium lactate spray activation, rather than conventional immersion or solution mixing, represents a novel crosslinking strategy that is suitable for edible film production. This method demonstrates a promising pathway toward the development of sustainable and high-performance biodegradable packaging materials.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the struggles of women veterans in Kristin Hannah's novel The Women (2024) through the lens of Simone de Beauvoir's existentialist feminism. It focuses on the portrayal of women veterans, particularly Frankie (Frances McGrath) while analyzing the construction of gender roles and the dynamics between men and women within the society. Drawing from De Beauvoir’s seminal work The Second Sex, which critiques the historical marginalization of women as the “Other” in patriarchal societies. It analyzes how the novel critiques patriarchal structures while celebrating women's resilience and agency. A descriptive qualitative method emphasizing narrative analysis provides a comprehensive understanding of Frankie's emotional journey and the broader societal issues faced by women veterans. Frankie’s experiences during and after the Vietnam War highlight the marginalization and lack of recognition faced by women veterans. Her journey illustrates core existentialist feminist principles, including the rejection of patriarchal norms and the assertion of self-definition. The study underscores the novel's depiction of women’s solidarity and mutual support as tools for resisting oppression and reclaiming identity. By emphasizing the relevance of De Beauvoir’s philosophy, this research contributes to feminist literary studies, encouraging a reevaluation of patriarchal systems and greater recognition of women’s contributions.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines the effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) e-modules in developing students' 21st-century skills by synthesizing ten Scopus-indexed empirical studies published between 2015 and 2025. Motivated by the growing demand for student-centered and technology-integrated learning, this review aims to consolidate evidence on how PBL-oriented digital modules support key competencies. Following the PRISMA guidelines, the study employed a transparent selection process and combined thematic synthesis with bibliometric analysis (VOSviewer) to identify research trends, dominant themes, and learning outcomes. The findings indicate that PBL e-modules consistently enhance critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity, with the strongest effects reported in critical thinking and collaborative performance. Student motivation and autonomy emerged as important mediating factors, while variations in instructional design and digital platform quality influenced effectiveness across contexts. These results imply that well-structured PBL design and purposeful digital integration are critical for maximizing the impact of e-modules on 21st-century skills, while also highlighting methodological gaps for future research.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the characteristics of Madyan women in the story of the Prophet Musa a.s. in Q.S. al-Qashash verses 23-28 and examines its relevance for the lives of Muslim women today. This research uses a qualitative approach based on literature study with thematic interpretation method (maudhu'i) through the al-Farmawi approach. The research results show that Madyan women are represented as active and rational moral subjects, with four main characters. First, maintaining one's honor (ḥaya') as the foundation of personal ethics, which is reflected in attitudes, social positions and cross-gender interaction patterns. Second, communicative intelligence which is seen in the ability to read social contexts, convey information effectively, and respond to situations proportionally and meaningfully. Third, objectivity in decision making, especially in work and marital relations, which is characterized by the use of moral and professional criteria. Fourth,an attitude of trust and social responsibility, which is reflected in the willingness to carry out public roles without ignoring ethical boundaries and self-respect. This finding confirms that the Qur'anic narrative about women helps shape the construction of meaning by positioning women as autonomous, rational subjects of interpretation in the production of the meaning of the Qur'an.

Abstract

Studies on justice in the Qur'an have so far been carried out through linguistic and normative approaches, but have not fully explored the main message (maghza) of the verses contextually. This article aims to reinterpret the meaning of justice in the QS. An-Nisa (4): 58 using a ma'na cum maghza hermeneutical approach. This research is library research using qualitative methods, using primary sources in the form of the Koran and classical to contemporary tafsir books, as well as secondary sources in the form of relevant scientific books and articles. The analysis was carried out in three stages, namely exploring al-ma'na al-tarikhi (historical significance), al-maghza al-tarikhi (historical significance), and al-maghza al-mutaharrik (dynamic significance). The research results show that at the al-ma'na al-tarikhi level, QS. An-Nisa (4): 58 emphasizes that justice is a moral and legal obligation that must be enforced objectively, without being influenced by personal interests, tiesemotional, and power relations. Power and authority are not a privilege, but a mandate that must be accounted for morally and socially. The dynamic significance of this verse can be used for law enforcement and social justice in the contemporary context.
