This study aims to analyze and test the influence of work stress, workload, and work environment on employee job satisfaction, both directly and indirectly through work-life balance as a mediating variable. This research was conducted in the Customs and Excise Services and Facilities Sector at the Batam Type B Customs and Excise Main Service Office (KPU). Using an explanatory quantitative approach, the research population included 135 operational employees, where the sample was taken using a census technique ( total sampling ) of 135 respondents. Primary data collection was carried out through a questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis used the Structural Equation Modeling method based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results of the study showed that directly, work stress and workload had a negative and significant effect on job satisfaction and work-life balance . Work environment and work-life balance had a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. Furthermore, work-life balance was proven to play a significant role as a mediating variable ( partial mediation ). The determination value ($R^2$) showed that the variables studied were able to explain 67.4 % of the variance in employee job satisfaction. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of organizational roles, employee competencies, and the availability of infrastructure on service quality and user satisfaction, and to examine the role of service quality as an intervening variable at the Batam Type B Customs and Excise Main Service Office. The study uses an explanatory quantitative approach. The study population was 124 service users and a sample of 95 respondents determined by the Slovin formula at a 5% error rate and proportionate random sampling technique. Primary data were collected through a 1–5 Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS. The results showed that organizational roles significantly influenced service quality, employee competencies significantly influenced service quality and user satisfaction, and the availability of infrastructure significantly influenced service quality. Service quality significantly influences service user satisfaction. Conversely, organizational roles and infrastructure did not have a direct significant effect on user satisfaction. Service quality mediated the influence of employee competencies and the availability of infrastructure on user satisfaction, but did not mediate the influence of organizational roles. The R² value for service quality of 0.876 and user satisfaction of 0.726 indicates strong explanatory power of the model. This finding confirms that improving user satisfaction primarily requires strengthening service quality, employee competence, and infrastructure support.

This study aims to analyze the influence of information system technology utilization, work engagement, and organizational support on employee effectiveness with work motivation as an intervening variable at the Batam Type B Customs and Excise Main Service Office. This study is motivated by the importance of increasing employee effectiveness in facing increasingly complex public service demands and the need to optimize the use of information technology, work engagement, organizational support, and work motivation. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The study population is all 455 employees of the Batam Type B Customs and Excise Main Service Office. The research sample is 213 respondents determined based on the Slovin formula. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire with a Likert scale. Data analysis used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Square (SmartPLS). The results of the study indicate that the use of information system technology, work engagement, organizational support, and work motivation have a positive and significant effect on employee effectiveness. In addition, the use of information system technology, work engagement, and organizational support also have a positive and significant effect on work motivation. Testing the indirect effect shows that work motivation is able to positively and significantly mediate the effect of the use of information system technology, work engagement, and organizational support on employee effectiveness. The findings of this study prove that increasing employee effectiveness is not only directly influenced by technology factors, work engagement, and organizational support, but is also strengthened through increased work motivation as a mediating mechanism.
