Abstract

The objectives of this research were to analyze the application of the quality standard of the frozen edamame products, to identify key attributes expected by the export markets in increasing the quality of frozen edamame, to formulate the appropriate strategy in improving the quality of frozen edamame products, and to determine the priority strategies that can be applied in the improvement of the quality of frozen edamame products. The method used was the case study, and the analysis tools i.e. QFD (Quality Function Deployment), Pareto, SWOT (Strenght, Weakness, Opportunity) dan AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) were also used. Based on the data processing results of QFD, the attribute of no pests and diseases is the highest expectation from customers, and sorting is the most crucial point in generating quality of edamame requested by the customers. The Pareto analysis result showed that the main problem in increasing the quality of the products is the processing time. SWOT analysis produced four alternative strategies that is optimizing the use of technology to ensure the quality of edamame, assessing and monitoring the SOP quality control, optimizing cooperation research and development with universities or government research institutes to produce seeds, and applying efficiency and effectiveness in production. Analysis of AHP strategic priorities resulted in recommendations for the company that optimization of the use of technology to ensure the quality of edamame must carried out. Therefore, the quality of raw materials which cannot be processed directly will not be reduced due to the longer period of waiting. Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1) to identify the tuna cargo handling conducted in the export warehouse of PT. XYZ, 2) to determine the main variables that affect the performance of tuna cargo handling in the export warehouse of PT. XYZ, and 3) to determine what policies can be used to improve the performance of tuna cargo handling in the export warehouse of PT. XYZ. This research was conducted by using the descriptive methodology i.e. a discrete simulation model of the process of tuna cargo handling in the export warehouse of PT. XYZ by utilizing ARENA software. In the policy making of tuna cargo handling improvements, the Analytical Network Process, Benefit, Opportunity, Cost, and Risk (ANP BOCR) were also used. The simulation results point out that the existing conditions contribute to the delay level of tuna cargo delivery by 12% with the quality level of 22,934%. Delays in tuna cargo delivery have led to an increase in operational costs by 1,5%. ANP BOCR results highlight that opening a special lane for perishable cargo handling will improve the performance of tuna cargo handling in the export warehouse of PT. XYZ. Furthermore, the results of discrete model simulations on the improvement scenario of tuna cargo handling performance show that by opening a special lane for perishable cargo handling, it can ensure delivery schedule to be accurate indicated by the level of on time delivery reaching up to 100%, with an average quality rate of 86.013%. By speeding up the processing period (with an average of 81.519 minutes), the delay of cargo delivery up to 100% will be reduced; therefore, the quality of tuna is maintained in a good condition with the histamine level of 6,7 ppm. Keywords: ANP BOCR, tuna, ARENA simulation system model, air cargo performance, perishable cargo

Abstract

SOE’s (BUMN) restructuring is one of the government's efforts to improve the performance and competitiveness of companies. However, this doesn’t necessarily occur due to differences in the challenges of change in each SOE. Therefore, to understand the impact of restructuring research on the performance evaluation of BUMN Perkebunan is needed. Data collection was carried out in May-November 2017 at Holding Perkebunan Office, Jakarta. The data used is secondary data in the form of company financial statements for the period 2012-2016. The data was processed by EVA methods to determine the economic value added to the company. The results showed that the highest and the only positive EVA was achieved before the restructuring, namely in 2012. After that, the EVA continued to decline and was at its lowest point in the third year after restructuring, namely in 2016. This decrease occurred due to the influence of components that support EVA, such as corporate income and expenditure, beta (ß), return market (rm), risk-free (rf), and the capital structure. To increase the EVA, the company has to make improvements by increasing the income, reducing the expenditure, reviewing the interest rate (rf), and keeping the proportion of capital structure. Keywords: Restructuring, BUMN Perkebunan, Performance Evaluation, EVA

Abstract

Semarang waterfront city is a unique ecosystem with a great variety of potentialities as well as problems in the utilization of natural resources, particularly in the trade-off between economic growth and ecological preservation. Based on those conditions, the research is mainly focused upon designing some scenarios on environmental management, which ensure a profitable synergy of all stakeholders without sacrificing the principles of environmental conservation. Secondly, it is to design an interaction model among variables in the bio-physic, economy and social subsystems, in order to increase sources of learning and sustainable use of natural resources. Using a dynamic system, the main inputs of the designed model are the feasibility of natural resources management as a product of extended cost-benefit analysis (ECBA), the suitable option of natural resources management, as an input of comparative performance index (CPI), the integrated sustainability of using multidimensional scaling, the suitable land-use planning through geographic information system (GIS). From those main inputs the waterfront city environmental management policy can be observed as an output of analytical hierarchy processes (AHP).  The feasibility study shows that all of natural resources management options are feasible to be developed, where sustainable management, sustainable harvest and beach protected areas depict the most feasible management options.  Based on the results of the integrated sustainability research using multidimension scaling, the management of waterfront cities has to prioritize attention to the five important factors, i.e., (1) the issues of community empowerment; (2) the rate of land utilization; (3) the contribution of the industrial sector; (4) the availability of electricity and; (5) the availability of community organizations.
