Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the improvement of students’ learning outcomes in Mathematics, specifically on the topic of plane geometry, through the use of origami-based learning media and a Game-Based Learning model integrated with a Deep Learning approach. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, involving 24 fourth-grade students of SDN Kamal 2 as the research subjects, with data collected through tests, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the media and learning model was able to improve students’ learning outcomes progressively across all phases. In the pre-action phase (pretest), only 25% of students achieved the minimum mastery criterion. In Cycle I, after the implementation of the Game-Based Learning model, the mastery rate increased to 65%, with the lowest score of 50 and the highest score of 100. Although this represented an improvement, the classical mastery criterion had not yet been met. In Cycle II, following instructional improvements and deeper conceptual reinforcement, the classical mastery rate reached 79%, fulfilling the minimum success indicator of the study. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Game-Based Learning model integrated with Deep Learning can effectively help fourth-grade students at SDN Kamal 2 improve their mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low mastery of place value concepts and long addition operations among first-grade students at SDN Socah 03. In addition, students tended to lose focus easily and showed limited participation during mathematics lessons. To overcome these problems, the researcher implemented “Smart Counting” media as a concrete, interactive, and engaging learning tool that suits the developmental characteristics of elementary school students. The study aimed to improve students’ understanding of units and tens, as well as their ability to perform long addition operations through the use of meaningful learning media. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of two cycles, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were 15 first-grade students in the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, and documentation. To ensure the validity of the data, source and technique triangulation were applied. The data were analyzed using a mixed descriptive approach, combining quantitative percentages to measure learning mastery and qualitative descriptions to capture classroom engagement. The results showed that the implementation of “Smart Counting” media improved both students’ learning outcomes and classroom engagement. Learning mastery increased from 80% in Cycle I to 93.3% in Cycle II. Students also became more focused, active, and enthusiastic during the learning process. Therefore, teachers are encouraged to use interactive and concrete learning media to create more effective and meaningful mathematics learning experiences in elementary schools.

Abstract

Mathematics learning at the primary school level often faces challenges due to abstract concepts, resulting in low student activity. This study aims to analyze the improvement of student learning activities in data presentation material through the implementation of a manipulative conventional visual medium. A Classroom Action Research design was employed in two sequential cycles at UPTD SDN Telang 2, involving 16 fifth-grade students with low engagement. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews, structured classroom observations, and field documentation. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive statistics to calculate activity percentages, complemented by the Miles and Huberman interactive model for qualitative field notes. The results showed a significant transition in student behavior, where classical activity indicators rose from 35% in Cycle 1 to 83% in Cycle 2. Students shifted from passive behaviors to active participation, displaying high focus and confidence. In conclusion, the application of the "Papan Kantong Data" visual medium is highly effective in improving student learning activity, proving that concrete visual aids act as essential cognitive bridges in technology-limited primary schools.
