Abstract

Sexual violence in Islamic boarding schools, religious-based educational institutions that emphasize moral and spiritual values, is a complex and concerning issue. These cases often lead to stigma that prolongs trauma for the victims. This research uses Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory to analyze the causes and psychological impact of sexual violence, using a case study method. The research involves interviews with victims as well as psychoanalysts or counselors, and data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman method which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Sexual violence in Islamic boarding schools can take the form of kissing, hugging, or touching vital parts, often under the guise of affection or orders from authority figures. The psychological impact of victims can be severe, especially since many choose to remain silent. Psychological dynamics that are unconscious and embedded in the victim's subconscious require in-depth exploration. Sexual violence impacts the three psychological components: id, ego, and superego, resulting in repression of traumatic experiences into the subconscious, dissociation, and PTSD symptoms. Healing efforts can be made through exploration of the subconscious with free association, dream analysis, and identification and processing of internal conflicts. This method also involves transference and countertransference. This research is expected to enrich the understanding of the forms of sexual violence in Islamic boarding schools, the psychological mechanisms underlying the impact on victims, and relevant psychological interventions for healing.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of Islamic Religious Education teachers regarding the use of WhatsApp as an online learning platform. Using a mixed parallel convergent research method, this research collects quantitative data through surveys, while qualitative data is obtained through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation studies. This study shows that students in teacher certification programs in Indonesia are heavy users of WhatsApp, as evidenced by 97% of quantitative research respondents spending more than 4 hours per day for academic purposes. With an average standard deviation value of 0.816, this study confirms that students' perceptions of WhatsApp positively impact academic achievement. This is reasonable because they see WhatsApp as having flexibility not limited by place and time; features that are easy to use, integrated with lecture support software; and a fairly strong data security system. In implementing the certification program, WhatsApp's advantages are used to support the success of online classes, such as group discussions, sharing educational knowledge, sharing references, and finding academic agendas. This study also shows that WhatsApp can encourage of Islamic Religious Education teachers to have collaborative skills in teams. However, WhatsApp is still not maximized due to the absence of features for conducting evaluations, a poor learning management system, and the internet in Indonesia, which is not evenly distributed. These findings can be used as a basis for the government to improve the quality of online learning through WhatsApp. Because of its important role in the teacher certification program, we expected that Islamic religious education teachers can use the features in WhatsApp to optimize their use in the academic world

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the meaning of QS. Specifically, it will examine An-Nahl verse 70 in the context of the self-education of the millennial generation, using a hermeneutic approach and integrating Calljum's theory. A qualitative method with a library research approach was used to analyze QS. The verse is analyzed and related to Calljum's theory in the context of millennial generation self-education. Through hermeneutic analysis, the verse is understood not only textually but also in relation to the phenomenon of "digital senility," in which technology can erode spiritual values. Integrating Calljum's theory results in a holistic self-education model emphasizing critical literacy and collaborative learning. The implementation strategy includes using technology for divinatory learning and strengthening soft skills. The study concludes that self-education for millennials must be adaptive and reflective, as well as oriented toward balanced character building that considers both the intellectual and the spiritual.

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of discipline character education in forming a generation that is not only intellectually intelligent but also has strong moral values, especially in the era of globalization and technological advancement. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation and challenges in discipline character education in Indonesia schools. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review, which collects and analyzes data from various academic sources to understand the practice of discipline education. The results show that discipline serves as an educational tool to shape student behavior and includes various strategies, such as advice from teachers, role models, parental involvement, and the application of rules and habituation programs. However, challenges in the implementation of discipline character education arise from the lack of family support, the negative influence of friends, and unsupportive community environmental conditions. In conclusion, discipline character education is very important and requires cooperation between teachers, parents, and the community to create an environment that supports the development of students' character. This research is expected to contribute to the development of a more effective disciplinary character education model.

Abstract

This study analyzes the challenges faced by alumni of modern pesantren in understanding classical Islamic texts (Kitab Kuning) through Arab Pegon learning at Ma'had Al-Jami'ah, UIN Walisongo. Utilizing a qualitative case study design, data was collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis, with validation achieved through source and method triangulation. The results indicate that Arab Pegon is systematically taught through the reading and explanation of Kitab Kuning, guided sessions with ustadz, and weekly muhadasah classes to enhance communication skills. However, alumni encounter several obstacles, such as unfamiliarity with Pegon script, which is not commonly taught in modern pesantren, difficulties in understanding its structural differences compared to formal Arabic grammar, and low motivation due to perceived irrelevance to their academic objectives. Additionally, traditional methods such as bandongan and sorogan pose challenges for students accustomed to modern educational systems. To comprehend these dynamics, this study employs an integrative pedagogical approach combining traditional and modern methods alongside sociolinguistic perspectives. To address these challenges, the strategies for teaching Arab Pegon include a gradual introduction to Pegon script, reading-writing practices with the guidance of teachers, and vocabulary memorization. This study contributes to the pedagogical integration of traditional and modern education methods while proposing a model for Arab Pegon instruction that is responsive to the diverse educational backgrounds of students.
