Abstract

Students are less interested in the complicated content on the human respiratory system that is taught using traditional methods. Students' learning outcomes are impacted by traditional instruction that ignores learning style. This research aims to analyze the influence of learning styles on the learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students on the topic of the human respiratory system. The method used in this study is an analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. This study involved 34 fifth-grade students from SDN X and SDN Y in Bulukerto District. The researcher identified learning styles through a modified questionnaire and learning outcomes through optional evaluation questions according to the learning styles. There are 12 people with a visual learning style, 13 people with an auditory learning style, and 9 people with a kinesthetic learning style. The audio learning style having the highest average at 73.46, the kinesthetic learning style at 68.33, and the visual learning style at 67.5. There is no statistically significant difference in the average scores of the three learning styles (p-value=0.391). The findings of this research indicate that conventional learning is more effective for auditory learning styles and can still be used for visual learning. To facilitate all learning styles, the development of interactive multimedia for the human respiratory system material is necessary. Future research should increase the sample size using experimental research and control external factors.

Abstract

One of the learning models that involves three domains of learning outcomes (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor) is project-based learning in science subjects. In practice, the application of this model should also not contradict the prevailing curriculum (Merdeka Curriculum). This study aimed to analyse the planning of natural and social sciences (IPAS) instructional design based on the project-based learning (PjBL) model. This research is descriptive qualitative with a case study method. The research participants comprise a teacher, a school principal, and 18 students of the 5th grade. The data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis technique used was Milles Huberman's interactive analysis. The researchers applied data validity test with triangulation of sources, techniques, and theories. The results of the study suggested that the planning of teaching modules based on the project-based learning model created by the teacher considered students’ learning achievements in line with the demands of the Merdeka Curriculum in terms of syntaxes of the project-based learning. The results imply that teachers need to design systematic project stages, provide adequate resources, and provide space for collaboration and student creativity, and a rubric for assessing students' processes and outcomes in the planning stage of the IPAS instructional design based on project-based learning consistently in the future.

Abstract

The ecoliteracy level of elementary school students remains relatively low, particularly in their ability to understand environmental issues critically and responsibly. This limitation indicates that students are not yet able to connect ecological concepts to real-life contexts in a comprehensive manner. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a web-blog-assisted Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in enhancing the ecoliteracy of elementary school students. The research employed a quasi-experimental design and involved two fifth-grade classes from two different schools. The results indicated that students in the experimental group experienced a statistically significant improvement in ecoliteracy scores compared to those in the control group (p < 0.05; Hedges’s g = 0.78). The two-way ANOVA analysis further revealed a significant main effect of the learning model (p = 0.001), as well as a significant interaction between the learning model and classroom context (p = 0.008). Teachers observed that student involvement in project-based activities positively contributed to their environmental understanding and active engagement in learning processes. These findings suggest that the web-blog-assisted Project-Based Learning model is an effective and meaningful approach for improving students’ ecoliteracy in elementary education.

Abstract

Self-directedness is a crucial skill for prospective science teachers, and the Think-Pair-Project-Share (TP2S) model has shown promise in fostering collaboration and critical thinking. This aim study to investigates the effectiveness of TP2S in promoting self-directed learning among these future educators. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the think-pair-project-share (TP2S) learning model in facilitating the self-directedness of prospective science teachers. This quantitative research uses a nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were second semester students, while the research sample consisted of 72 students. The self-directedness data collection technique uses an instrument in the form of a scale. Based on the results of the paired sample T test, it can be seen that both experimental classes obtained a Sig value. (2-tailed) 0.000. It can be concluded that the paired sample T test value in the experimental class is 0.000<0.05 so that there is a significant difference in results between the pretest and posttest scores (H0 is rejected). It can be concluded that there is a difference in self-directedness between students who study human and environmental subjects using the think pair project share model and those who use the conventional model. It is known that the application of the TP2S learning model has an effect on the self-directedness of prospective science teachers. The implications of this research support and strengthen the results of theoretical studies that the TP2S learning model is a student-centered learning model that utilizes the ability to manage learning strategies independently.
