Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this study is to find out the ability of the first year students of SMAN 1 Banuhampu in comprehending narrative texts. The population of this research were all of the first year students of SMAN 1 Banuhampu which consist of 238 students. There were 33 students who participated in this study. The instrument was a test adapted from authentic material and consists of 35 questions. The frame of the test covers 7 components: main idea, factual information, contextual meaning, reference, restatement, generic structure and language feature and had 5 questions for each component. Before the test was administered, the test was tried out to find out the difficulty level and the reliability of the test. To analyze the data, the raw scores and the level of ability of the students was calculated and identified by using the classification of ability level by Harris (1974). The result showed that the ability of the first year students of SMAN 1Banuhampu in comprehending narrative texts was at average to good level with mean score 72.12. Therefore, it can be concluded that most of the students were able to comprehend narrative text. However, the students are suggested to learn the seven components in comprehending narrative text that will help them in comprehending others reading texts.Key Words: Ability, Reading Comprehension, Narrative Texts

Abstract

Abstract: Motivation is an essential factor that affects the process of foreign language acquisition. The objective of this research is to find out the level of motivation in learning English and the dominant type of motivation whether instrumental or integrative motivation. This research used descriptive quantitative method. The population of this research was the first year students of English Study Program FKIP Universitas Riau in academic year 2019/2020. The number of sample was taken based on Slovin formula; in which there were 55 students selected by simple random sampling technique. Questionnaires and interview were used to collect the data. The results from this study showed that the level of integrative motivation has mean score of 4.27 and instrumental motivation has mean score of 3.63. This result indicated that the dominant type of motivation of the first year students was integrative motivation rather than instrumental motivation.Key Words: Instrumental motivation, integrative motivation, learning English

Abstract

Abstract: The aimof this research was to know whether or not Think-Pair-Share technique could improve students’ ability in writing recount texts and how it could improve the ability. Classroom action research was conducted in two cycles to 34 students of X-2Class of SMAN 03 Pekanbaru as the participant of this research. The data were collected through written test, observation sheet, and field note. This research findings found that Think-Pair-Share technique could improve the students’ ability in writing recount texts. Students’ mean score improved from 54.46 in pre-test to 65.14 in post-test 1, and to 77.64 in post-test 2. It is in line with the activeness of students that improved from 46.08% in cycle 1 to 86.26% in cycle 2. Think-Pair-Share technique helped students in writing the recount texts. It analyzes each part of generic structure of recount text. Think-Pair-Share strategy could motivate the students during teaching and learning process. This research recommended that teachers to use Think-Pair-Share to find out the different effect after using this cooperative learning technique than a conventional technique.Key words: Think Pair Share Technique, writing ability, recount text

Abstract

Abstract: This research objective is to find out the form of code mixing in Kaskus online forum. The research data were collected in february 2017. The subject of this research was the user of Kaskus online forum in a thread entitiles “Cara Asik to Improve Your English”. The data were collected through online report. The subject consisted of 16 users with 48 posts, and 64 sentences. The research found out that the all of code mixing forms exist in Kaskus and several purposes of code mixing are found in this research. As a conclusion, the use of insertion of words is more dominant than other insertion in the research and Kaskus users are not using the code mixing for their incompetence.Keywords: Sociolinguistic, Code Mixing

Abstract

Designing and using rubrics for scoring language skills, particularly oral communication skills, seems to be not a popular job for teachers and lecturers. This is because of several reasons: less confidence in constructing own rubrics, hard to get suitable and feasible rubrics, and time-consuming.  As a matter of fact, most of teachers and lecturers tend to measure students’ works based on the following approaches: participation, honesty, presence, diligence, order, request, friendship, kinship, and seriousness. The implication of this sort of approach is that the given score/mark is not fair even inaccurate. This paper provides a rubric that is known as COLP which is not only current but also integrated for the assessment of oral communication skills. COLP as a current and integrated rubric stands for content, organization, language, and physical performance. It means that for the correction of oral communication skills, a rater is recommended to involve these four major aspects correspondingly. Content refers to whether or not fulfills the problem being discussed (topic); organization refers to whether or not the contents meet the correct rules of public speaking/writing; language refers to whether or not the oral communication as a whole containing accurate language components including grammatical structure, dictions, and fluency; and physical performance refers to the aspect of presentation. This is due to the fact that this rubric has been very useful when it was used for the assessment of Speaking/writing subject and Speech competition at the Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris FKIP Universitas Riau (UR) Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kontribusi kepemimpinan visioner,  kecerdasan emosional kepala sekolah terhadap optimisme guru bidang studi Bahasa Inggris, di Kecamatan Tebing Tinggi, Kepulauan Meranti, Riau. Penelitian ini bersifat kuantitatif, Sampel penelitian adalah 88 orang, dan data dikumpulkan dengan angket lima pilihan. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil penelitian adalah didapatkan kontribusi yang signifikan antara variabel kepemimpinan visioner  terhadap optimisme guru bidang studi Bahasa Inggris,  dan diperoleh kontribusi yang signifikan antara variabel kecerdasan emosional kepala sekolah terhadap optimisme guru bidang studi Bahasa Inggris.  Selain itu, terdapat kontribusi yang signifikan antara variabel kepemimpinan visioner  dan kecerdasan emosional kepala sekolah terhadap optimisme guru bidang studi Bahasa Inggris. Temuan ini menyimpulkan bahwa semakin baik persepsi guru terhadap kepemimpinan visioner  dan kecerdasan emosional kepala sekolah, maka optimisme guru bidang studi Bahasa Inggris akan semakin baik. Penelitian ini diharapkan berguna untuk perbaikan kinerja serta optimisme guru dalam melaksanakan kewajibannya ketika melakukan kegiatan pembelajaran dan membina peserta didik di sekolah.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh Iklim Organisasi terhadap Disiplin kerja Guru, pengaruh Akuntabilitas terhadap Disiplin Kerja Guru dan pengaruh Iklim Organisasi dan Akuntabilitas secara bersama-sama terhadap Disiplin Kerja Guru SMP Negeri di Kecamatan Kampar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian survey dengan menggunakan teknik total sampling. Adapun variabel penelitian terdiri dari dua variabel bebas yaitu Iklim Organisasi (X1) dan Akuntabilitas (X2) sedangkan variabel terikatnya adalah Disiplin Kerja Guru (Y). Populasi dan sampel penelitian adalah seluruh guru SMP Negeri di Kecamatan Kampar yaitu sebanyak 82 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh signifikan Iklim Organisasi dan Akuntabilitas secara simultan terhadap Disiplin Kerja Guru sebesar 0,2395 atau 23,95% dan secara parsial koefisien pengaruh Iklim Organisasi terhadap Disiplin Kerja Guru sebesar 0,1193 yang artinya 11,93% variasi menguat atau melemahnya Disiplin Kerja seorang guru ditentukan oleh Iklim Organisasi. Koefisien pengaruh antara Akuntabilitas terhadap Disiplin Kerja Guru sebesar 0,1158 yang artinya 11,58% variasi menguat dan melemahnya Disiplin Kerja ditentukan oleh Akuntabilitas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis Pengaruh Lingkungan Kerja dan Kepuasan Kerja terhadap Kinerja Guru Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) Negeri di Kecamatan Bangkinang Kota Kabupaten Kampar. Penelitian ini bersifat kuantitatif, Sampel penelitian adalah 106 orang, dan data dikumpulkan dengan angket lima pilihan. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil penelitian didapatkan pengaruh yang signifikan antara variabel Lingkungan Kerja terhadap Kinerja Guru Sekolah Menengah Pertama, dan diperoleh pengaruh yang signifikan antara variabel Kepuasan Kerja terhadap Kinerja Guru. Selain itu, terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara variabel Lingkungan Kerja dan Kepuasan Kerja terhadap kinerja guru sekolah menengah pertama. Temuan ini menyimpulkan bahwa semakin baik Lingkungan Kerja dan Kepuasan Kerja terhadap Kinerja Guru Sekolah Menengah Pertama, maka Kinerja Guru Sekolah Menengah Pertama akan semakin baik. Penelitian ini diharapkan berguna untuk perbaikan Kinerja Guru dalam melaksanakan kewajibannya ketika melakukan kegiatan pembelajaran dan membina peserta didik di sekolah.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between job involvementand job satisfaction with the Organizational Citizenship Behavior.This research was conductedin faculty of education Islamic University of Riau Pekanbaru.This is a survey reserch. Thepopulation was 103 lecturers wich was taken as sample totally 82 using simple random samplingtechnique. Instruments used to collect data was corrective using instrument over 3 variablethan data was analyze using Product Momentand Alpha Cronbachformulas. The reserch found1)there isasignificant relationship between Job Involvement (x1) with the Organizational CitizenshipBehavior (y) with the coefficient of determination 0,553. 2)there is a significant relationship ofJob Satisfaction (x2) with the Organizational Citizenship Behavior (y) with the coefficient ofdetermination 0.381.3. 3)there is a significant relationship of Job Involvement (x1) and JobSatisfaction (x2) with the Organizational Citizenship Behavior (y) with the coefficient ofdetermination 0,644. The conclusion of the study shows that the Organizational CitizenshipBehavior can be improved through Job Involvement and Job Satisfaction.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalis kontribusi variabel bebas terhadap variabel terikat antara Sarana Prasarana Dan Lingkungan Kerja Non Fisik Terhadap Motivasi Guru Di Sekolah Yayasan Pendidikan Cendana. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan metode asosiatif kausal. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket. Populasi yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah sebanyak 68 orang guru dan semuanya diteliti sebagai responden (sensus). Teknik analisis data penelitian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan kuantitatif (regresi linier berganda) dengan melakukan uji asumsi klasik terlebih dahulu. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa Melalui Koefisien determinasi (R2) diketahui secara simultan variabel-variabel pada Sarana prasarana dan lingkungan kerja non fisik  mampu menjelaskan kontribusi terhadap variabel motivasi kerja guru sebesar 69,1 %.  Sedangkan sisanya sebesar 30,9 %, dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain di luar penelitian ini. Untuk nilai R sebesar 0,831 dapat diinterpretasikan bahwa koefisien korelasi antara variabel pada Sarana prasarana sekolah dan lingkungan kerja non fisik terhadap motivasi kerja guru adalah sangat kuat. Sementara Sarana prasarana secara parsial berkontribusi terhadap motivasi kerja guru dengan nilai koefisien Beta (standardized coefficient) sebesar 0,524 dan uji pengaruh 0,274. Hal ini berarti terdapat kontribusi sarana prasarana secara parsial terhadap motivasi kerja guru di Sekolah Yayasan pendidikan Cendana Riau sebesar 27,4%. Lingkungan kerja non fisik secara parsial berkontribusi terhadap motivasi kerja guru dengan nilai koefisien Beta (standardized coefficient) sebesar 0,425 dan uji pengaruh sebesar 0,181. Hal ini berarti terdapat kontribusi sarana prasarana secara parsial terhadap motivasi kerja guru di Sekolah Yayasan pendidikan Cendana Riau sebesar 18,1 %.
