Abstract

The lack of available assessment tools that effectively measure students' ability to think abstractly in mathematics, particularly in trigonometry. Additionally, there is a need to incorporate local culture into the assessment instrument to make the content more relatable and relevant to students in Riau Islands Province. This study is a development study using the Define, Design, and Develop processes from the 4D development model that have been converted to 3D. 3 doctoral lecturers in mathematics education subsequently validate the instruments produced; they are modified in response to their feedback and recommendations. A team of 17 teachers and instructors of high school mathematics validated the results, followed by panelists' validation. The content Validity Ratio (CVR) index value on the panelist's validation of 25 items is greater equals to 0.765. The instrument has been tested on 20th-grade 10th high school students. The results show that the instrument can be used on a large scale, and the instrument with the cultural context of the Riau Islands Province enables students to break down complex problems into simpler components, identify relevant variables, and establish connections between them.

Abstract

The HOTS-based mathematical abstraction ability test instrument according to the culture of the Riau Islands is a form of questions that is still rarely found in school learning. The goal of this study is to analyze the HOTS-based mathematical abstraction ability instrument according to the culture of the Riau Islands for 10th grade high school students. The respondents were 402 students taken from four high schools in the city of Tanjungpinang. Research data was collected using multiple choice questions. The test instrument consisted of 19 items that were tested. The high level of difficulty of the HOTS questions and the students' limited time in working on the questions caused the test instruments to be divided into two packages. Package A consists of 10 items, and package B consists of 9 items. Winsteps software is used for data analysis. Rasch modeling is a method applied in this analysis. Both package A and package B instruments were analyzed using Rasch modeling, the results showed reliability with Cronbach's Alpha values of 0.73 and 0.75 respectively, which means both instruments can be relied upon to measure students’ mathematical abstraction abilities. The separation values of packages A and B are 7.35 and 6.15 respectively, which means the item have an excellent distribution of respons. Rasch modeling data analysis results demonstrate that every test instrument item satisfies the item fit order criteria. Based on research findings, 19 test instrument items were classified as extremely suitable for utilization. The development of a HOTS-based test instrument for mathematical abstraction ability that takes into account the cultural norms of the Riau Islands is helping students by promoting an even more engaging and inclusive mathematics education.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop the Metacognitive Skills Assessment in a Research Proposal Writing Context (MSARPW), a multidimensional measure, based on student perspectives, for assessing metacognitive skills in thesis writing, and assess the instrument’s psychometric properties using item factor analysis (IFA) and multidimensional item response models. The 40-item MSARPW was administered to 602 Indonesian university students (Mage = 25.254 SDage = 6.854). The IFA showed that the two-dimensional factor structure of MSARPW was satisfactory; however, only 24 of the 40 items were found to fit the model. Multidimensional graded response models (MGRM) were applied to the subsequent 24-item MSARPW, which showed that one item (Item 4) did not satisfy the criteria. The estimated reliabilities of each subscale showed that the 23-item MSARPW has good internal consistency (0.891 and 0.902). To conclude, the 23-item MSARPW appears to be a valid and reliable tool for assessing metacognitive skills in the context of research-proposal writing among Indonesian university students.

Abstract

In general, integral calculus courses are difficult for students because the problems involved require strong problem-solving skills. For university students, integral calculus courses also require them to do self-regulated, or independent, learning. Another aspect that makes learning difficult for these students is their mathematical beliefs and prior knowledge. This study aims to see how different types of mathematical beliefs affect self-regulated learning in terms of students' prior knowledge. This research was conducted on students in a mathematics education study program at a private university in Tangerang with a sample of 120 students. This research is an ex post facto quantitative study using a two factorial design. The variables in this study consisted of independent variables in the form of mathematical beliefs, the moderator variable in the form of students’ prior knowledge, and the dependent variable in the form of self-regulated learning. Abstract

ABSTRACT Attitude is an important element in supporting training behavior. This research aims to determine whether there is an influence of the learning environment on the attitude of the Pasukan Gegana Korbrimob Polri in Tactical KBRN training. Classroom environment was measured using an adaptation of the What is Happening in This Class? (WIHIC) and student attitudes were measured using the participant Attitude Scale towards KBRN Tactical training based on indicators developed in the Test of Science Associated Attitudes (TOSRA). The correlation test results show that there is a significant positive relationship between the learning environment and participants' attitudes towards KBRN Tactical training (with a t table value of 4.215 and a significance value of 0.000. This means that the better the participants' perception of the learning environment, the more positive the participants' attitude towards KBRN Tactical training. In addition, the regression model shows that the learning environment makes an effective contribution of 15.39% to participants' attitudes towards KBRN Tactical training (R2 = 0.153). The research results show that the learning environment has a significant influence on participants' attitudes towards KBRN Tactical training, although not a large one. This is because there are other variables that influence participants' attitudes towards KBRN Tactical training apart from the learning environment, such as: achievement, mentor factors, peers, and other factors. Abstract

The current era of digitalization is experiencing very rapid changes. To adjust this, very fast adaptation is needed. Starting from the development of the younger generation in this era, we are currently in the revolution of industry 4.0. The industrial revolution 4.0 is marked by rapid developments in the IT world. The key is in several words such as automation, big data analysis, robot technology, artificial intelligence (AI), to the internet of things (IoT). While many are still adapting to the industrial revolution 4.0, the discourse about the next revolution is the Industrial Revolution 5.0 where in this era it takes knowledge, skills and character of the younger generation who are able to quickly adopt and adapt to the new technology. To keep up with this era, teacher professionalism is needed in order to educate students to become a young generation who are able to move quickly to adapt to the environment. Conducting Community Service through improving the professionalism of SMAN Mande teachers through assistance in the development of the Merdeka curriculum assessment instrument is one of the strategies to support as a support system to realize that era. A teacher with high professionalism will be able to increase the capacity and capability of his students, so that they can welcome the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 and 5.0.
