Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of state ideology on citizen nationalism. The research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational method to analyze the relationship between ideology as the independent variable and nationalism as the dependent variable. Data were collected through research instruments that had passed validity and reliability testing, and were analyzed using the product-moment correlation technique. The results showed that state ideology has a strong and significant influence on citizen nationalism, with a correlation coefficient indicating a high level of relationship between the two variables. The coefficient of determination shows that ideology contributes substantially to the formation of citizen nationalism, while the remaining influence is affected by other factors not examined in this study. These findings indicate that strengthening the understanding and internalization of state ideology is an important strategy to enhance citizen nationalism in the era of globalization.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension in pregnancy needs to beware out because it can progress to more severe conditions, namely preeclampsia and eclampsia, thereby endangering the mother and the unborn baby. Risk factors in Hypertension in pregnancy are as age, education, occupation, parity, gestational age, economic factors, personal and family history of hypertension, obesity and activity/exercise.Objective: This study aims to determine the risk factors for Hypertension in pregnancy in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra.Method: This study method used analytic observational with a cross sectional design. The study subjects were pregnant women at Public Health Center of Deli Serdang Regency who were considered the inclusion criteria and were selected as study subjects. The sampling technique by means of random sampling amounted to 164. Univariate analysis used to get an overview of the frequency distribution and percentage of the variables to be studied. Bivariate analysis used to determine the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable. The statistical test was Chi-Square with CI 95%.  If p < 0.05. Multivariate analysis with logistic regression statistical tests to determine the influence of the independent variables on the dependent variable. Independent variables with p value <0.25 were included in the multiple logistic regression test model and selected using the enter method. The strength of the influence of the independent variable on the dependent variable is the Exp value (ß).Result: The results of the study proved the results of Multivariate analysis, can be synthesized that the risk factors for pregnancy hypertension were influenced by factors: education (p=0.045), parity (p=0.047), gestational age (0p=0.040), personal history of hypertension (p=0.013), history family (p=0.049), and obesity (p=0.016). While the factors of age, occupation, economy and activity/exercise have no effect on risk factors for hypertension in pregnancy. Based on Exp value (B), the most influential factor was personal history of hypertension (p=0.013). This is indicated by the Exp value (B) = 2.710 which is in the interval 1.234 – 5.953, followed by obesity (p=0.016) with the Exp value (= 2.612) which is in the interval 1.192 – 5.725.

Abstract

The worldwide population of older people is rising rapidly, with projections suggesting that by 2050, persons aged 60 and over will represent 22% of the entire population. Age-related outcomes are significantly exacerbated by frailty, susceptibility, and an elevated risk of depression. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) has become a feasible therapeutic approach, integrating cognitive therapy with mindfulness techniques. This review systematically assesses the efficacy of MBCT in alleviating depression in the older population. This review adheres to PRISMA criteria. Seven databases (Medline, Scopus, ClinicalKey for Nursing, Ebsco, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Grey Literature) were examined from 2017 to 2022. Three keywords utilized were depression, elderly individuals, and MBCT. The quality of the studies was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute's (JBI) critical appraisal tool. Eleven studies were incorporated for the review. Research demonstrates that MBCT is advantageous in alleviating depression among the older population. This review indicates that MBCT is a potential alternative therapy for older individuals experiencing depression. It is imperative to emphasise that future research must demonstrate enhanced structural quality and require larger sample sizes.

Abstract

Background: Low birth weight (LBW) is a major global health concern because of its strong association with infant mortality, morbidity, and impaired long-term development. The determinants of LBW among neonates in rural areas of Indonesia remain underexplored. Objective: To examine the prevalence of LBW and determine its associated factors among neonates in rural areas of Indonesia.   Methods: A cross-sectional study used secondary data sources from the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey. A total of 6,701 mothers who lived in rural areas were included. Explanatory variables were maternal age, maternal education, smoking status, parity, birth interval, twin history, antenatal care (ANC), husband support, wealth quintile, region of residence, and complications during pregnancy. The outcome variable was the prevalence of LBW. Data were analyzed using bivariate analysis with a Chi-square test (χ2) and multivariable logistic regression. Results: The prevalence of LBW was 6.65%. First birth [AOR = 1.486; 95% CI: 1.126-1.959], twin history [AOR = 27.165; 95% CI = 13.006-56.738], fewer than four ANC visits [AOR = 2.193; 95% CI = 1.519-3.164], and complications during pregnancy [AOR = 1.890; 95% CI = 1.427-2.503] were significantly associated with the prevalence of LBW. Conclusion: This study revealed the prevalence of LBW among neonates in rural areas of Indonesia. First birth, twin history, ANC visits, and complications during pregnancy were significantly associated with LBW. It is suggested that health professionals should strengthen the quality of antenatal care and improve health promotion and education during pregnancy for rural mothers to reduce the prevalence of LBW.

Abstract

Background: Case-Based Learning (CBL) method is interactive and utilizes actual or realistic scenarios to promote authentic learning. It is an interactive, student-centred exploration that begins with illustrating real-life situations. CBL combines a constructivist and experiential approach, developing professional skills such as problem-solving, clinical reasoning, and knowledge of theory. Objective: This study aimed to explore students' experiences in using CBL learning method in medical-surgical nursing courses at Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Andalas. Methods: This study used a descriptive phenomenological qualitative design. Twenty-three fifth-semester nursing students enrolled in medical-surgical nursing courses using CBL were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected in July 2022 through three focus group discussions lasting 60–90 minutes, guided by semi-structured questions on students’ perceptions, benefits, challenges, and suggestions for CBL implementation. Audio recordings were transcribed verbatim and analyzed using the Stevick-Colaizzi-Keen phenomenological method. Trustworthiness was ensured through credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. Results: Based on the results of the thematic analysis, several themes were found, including (1) CBL learning method develops analytical thinking students (2) Using cases in CBL learning method improves the quality of learning (3) Inappropriate standard of implementation CBL learning methods. Conclusion: This study showed some benefits of using CBL learning method. Based on the results, it is necessary to optimize the implementation of CBL in medical-surgical nursing courses and develop it in other courses in Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Andalas.
