Abstract

Abstract

Abstract: The counseling process in school environments is vulnerable to cultural bias challenges that can impede its effectiveness. A multicultural or cross-cultural counseling approach is crucial for understanding counselees from diverse backgrounds. This study aims to explore the level of cultural understanding and awareness among Guidance and Counseling Teachers towards multicultural counseling in schools, as well as their ability to form effective relationships with students from various cultural backgrounds. Utilizing the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this research examines 47 relevant journal articles from Google Scholar published within the last 5 to 10 years, yielding five key articles that underscore the importance of cultural awareness and competence development to enhance counseling effectiveness. The findings reveal significant variations in cultural awareness among guidance counselors, identifying an urgent need for skill development and intervention strategies to address challenges such as counselor encapsulation and cross-cultural communication barriers. Initiatives such as the development of service models, training modules, and competence enhancement programs have proven effective in strengthening cultural awareness and counseling capabilities. In conclusion, a deep understanding of cultural awareness and multicultural competencies is not only essential for effective interaction between counselors and students but also crucial in advancing inclusive education that embraces cultural diversity. Abstract

Abstract

The death of the closest people leaves a feeling of loss and grief that can last into adulthood if it is not resolved. Children and adolescents are the most vulnerable subjects due to a lack of understanding about death and grief. Unfortunately, death education in Indonesia is still minimal, even though it can help children cope with grief as a basic response to loss. Death education should be provided by guidance and counseling teachers, but no studies or practices in Indonesia apply to this context. Therefore, this research was conducted to make recommendations based on a literature review on death education to help students cope with grief. This study uses the systematic literature review (SLR) method which aims to synthesize and present in-depth data from 20 selected previous studies from Google Scholar, PubMed, Harzing, and Mendeley. The implementation of death education can be focused on the explanation of death, the value of life and death, and strategies to cope with the grief caused by death. Practical strategies to implement death education in Indonesia can be developed before being widely practiced.

Abstract

The research was motivated by the inability of students to resolve conflicts constructively, so many cases of conflict between students ended in violence. This study examines the effectiveness of conflict resolution counseling for developing core values of peace in adolescents. This research uses the positivism paradigm, quantitative approach, quasi-experimental method, and non-equivalent pre-test post-test control group design. The research participants were vocational high school students in the city of Bandung, totaling 63 people (32 people for the control and experimental groups), which were determined through a purposive technique. The data collection tool is a questionnaire on the core values of peace based on the U NESCO -APNIEVE Thurstone scale model with a reliability coefficient of 0.92. Data analysis to test the hypothesis using the One-Way ANOVA technique. The calculation results show that F hit = 3.401, at p = 0.070>0.05, dk = 1.58, which means that there was no significant difference in the core values of peace between the control group and the treatment group after conflict resolution counseling intervention. Partially, conflict resolution counseling effectively increases the three core values of peace: tolerance, recognition of other people's souls, and gratitude. The research recommendations are aimed at guidance and counseling teachers in vocational high schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the in-depth relationship with cyber counseling services using the Riliv platform and explain the code of ethics for online counseling. This research uses the method of literature review or literature study in the form of journal articles. The results of the study are known to make cyber counseling services considered effective because they can make it easier for counselors and students to conduct counseling that is not limited by distance and time. Cyber counseling services occur when counselors and counselors communicate remotely through devices connected to the internet network. This service has produced significant results in the effectiveness of mentoring and counseling during the COVID-19 pandemic. Until now, in the post-COVID-19 pandemic, cyber counseling services continue to be a choice for cyber counseling services. Riliv is an online counseling platform that connects people with personal problems with psychologists through text counseling, voice calls, and video calls seeking counseling. With the significant increase in the implementation of online counseling, several issues have arisen, especially regarding the application of the Code of Ethics in the implementation of online counseling. It can be concluded that counselors with cyber counseling can provide optimal services. Through technology intermediaries, counseling no longer needs to be done face-to-face, but can be done online.
