Abstract

Guidance and counseling teachers with Non guidance and counseling backgrounds are still an issue that often occurs in education in Indonesia. This is caused by the limited number of guidance and counseling teachers in Indonesia. Therefore, the aim of this research is to explore and find out more deeply about guidance and counseling teachers with non-counseling backgrounds from a guidance and counseling perspective. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods to explain in more detail the data from interviews with both guidance and counseling teachers and guidance and counseling teachers with Non guidance and counseling backgrounds. The results obtained are that guidance and counseling teachers with Non guidance and counseling backgrounds do not really understand and delve into the code of ethics for guidance and counseling. However, in practice, guidance and counseling teachers who come from the psychology department (non-counseling) have adequate understanding regarding counseling, so their presence helps reduce the workload of guidance and counseling teachers. Keywords: Code of Ethics; professional ethics; Non guidance and counseling guidance and counseling teachers.

Abstract

Career maturity is a pivotal aspect in supporting an individual’s career development for the future. The success of a person’s career is influenced by their ability to make appropriate career choices. However, adolescents often lack a mature understanding and knowledge in establishing career choices, as they are not yet independent in decision-making. This indicates that the career maturity of adolescents still needs to be enhanced. To measure an individual’s career maturity, an instrument is required as a measurement tool. One method to investigate this instrument is by using the Rasch Model. Data collection is conducted using a Likert scale with simple random sampling technique. This study aims to analyze the construct validity of the career maturity scale from 136 junior high school students in Bandung. The research employs a quantitative approach with a survey design as the research method. Data is analyzed using the Rasch model with Winstep version 3.73. The findings of the analysis indicate that the validity and reliability value is 0.86, meaning the instrument is considered good, although some items exhibit gender bias.____________________________________________________________Kematangan karier merupakan faktor kunci dalam menunjang perkembangan karier individu di masa depan.

Abstract

Abstract

The lack of concern teacher education for the formation of vocational identity and the controversy about relation between moral and ego development to identity formation become the reason why this research was conducted. The objective of this research to describe the causal relationship between three constructs. The design used is a cross-sectional survey with descriptive methods. The participants in this study were 465 prospective teacher students at a state university that provides teacher education in Indonesia, who were recruited using a multistage cluster sampling technique. The Defining Issues Test, Ego Development Inventory, and Vocational Exploration and Commitment Questionnaire were used to reveal the data, which were then processed statistically. The configuration of morals and ego in identity formation is mapped in the contingency table. In contrast, the causal analysis is tested through path analysis. From the results of this study, no systematic map was found regarding the configuration of morals and ego in the formation of vocational identity status. Unlike moral considerations, ego development has a positive effect on the vocational identity status of students. Moral development is not correlated with ego development and vocational identity status. This study also successfully revealed theoretical, methodological, and practical implications.

Abstract

Adolescent mental health literacy (MHL) plays a critical role in equipping young individuals to make informed health decisions and seek appropriate care. This study aimed to explore the level of adolescent MHL worldwide, its influencing factors, and effective strategies to improve it through a systematic review of 10 selected studies published between 2000 and 2024. Using PRISMA guidelines, relevant articles were identified from databases including Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar. Key findings indicated significant variability in MHL among adolescents globally, influenced by factors such as education, culture, and access to information. While adolescents were generally better at recognizing common conditions like depression, less than 50% could identify it accurately. Gender disparities were observed, with females more likely to recommend professional help. Effective interventions, such as school-based programs, showed promise in enhancing MHL, particularly in improving knowledge and reducing stigma. Instruments such as the Mental Health Literacy Questionnaire and The Friend in Need Questionnaire were commonly used for assessment, although reliance on self-reported data highlights the need for more objective tools. The findings underscored the importance of comprehensive health education programs in schools, covering topics such as mental health, nutrition, and healthy lifestyles, to bridge knowledge gaps and foster help-seeking behaviors. This study concluded that addressing disparities in adolescent MHL through tailored, multi-sectoral approaches, including education, community engagement, and policy reforms, was essential to empower adolescents globally and improve public mental health outcomes.
