Abstract

Nabire Regency, Central Papua Province, has a high vulnerability to flooding due to significant rainfall intensity. Risk analysis was conducted using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method to determine the priority of factors causing flooding, including hydrological aspects, land use, infrastructure, and socio-economic impacts in a systematic manner. The results of this study indicate that the analysis of public perception of flooding disasters was conducted by modeling data using a Likert scale, which was processed computationally to generate patterns of public perception. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method was used to determine the priority of data-based mitigation strategies. The results confirm that BPBD plays a dominant role in flood risk management through the integration of adaptive and sustainable environmental information systems.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the characteristics of the Quasi Linear Convective System (QLCS) based on weather radar in the South Sulawesi region, which influences extreme weather. This research is a case study that focuses on the occurrence of QLCS, which grows around the waters of the Makassar Strait and moves east towards the mainland area of South Sulawesi. The study area is limited to a radius of 200 km from the weather radar center. The data processing technique uses the Rainbow application with weather radar data input from the Hasanuddin Makassar Meteorological Station. Next, the radar data output in the form of MAX products is filtered according to the criteria of Lombardo and Colle (2010) to obtain QLCS cases. The selected QLCS cases were then analyzed for their characteristics based on spatial and temporal distribution, type of formation, propagation, and Vertical Wind Shear. The data processing results found 24 cases of QLCS in South Sulawesi with varying characteristics, where the formation location was most often in the waters of the Makassar Strait with a lifetime of around 60-90 minutes. The most common type of QLCS formation is a broken line, and the most dominant QLCS propagation is towards the east, with fast-moving speed and a strong VWS category.

Abstract

The expansion of urban areas into rural regions, known as Urban Sprawl, contributes to the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon, where urban areas exhibit higher temperatures than their rural counterparts. Kolaka Regency is an area with significant potential for Urban Sprawl and subsequent UHI activity. Therefore, it is essential to investigate the impact of Urban Sprawl on UHI in the Kolaka region. This study simulates these changes using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model, incorporating land cover data from the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) with four urban schemes: SLUCM, BEM, and the default non-UCM/land cover. The simulation also includes the Kolaka 2042 development map for Urban Sprawl projections. Simulations were conducted over 48 non-rainfall events across 12 months. The results indicated that the WRF BIG-BEM model demonstrated the highest verification accuracy and the lowest errors, with a MAPE of 4.70%, CRMSE of 1.06°C, and a correlation coefficient of 87.62%. Including BIG land cover and the BEM urban scheme enhanced the model's performance, with a MAPE of 17.92%, CRMSE of 10.11%, and a correlation improvement of 3.18%. The UHI effect predominantly ranged from -2.0 to 2.5°C, with the highest values observed in the Pomalaa mining area and central Kolaka Regency. The UHI effect was most pronounced from evening to morning, peaking during the night and early morning hours, with increased intensity during the dry season from July to September. Regression analysis revealed a trend of increasing UHI following Urban Sprawl activity, with a trend rate of 0.91°C. The R-squared value of 96.69% indicates that Urban Sprawl activity accounted for 96.69% of the UHI intensity in Kolaka, while other unexamined variables influenced 3.31%.

Abstract

Currently, the parking management implemented in several public places has not been managed properly, resulting in a buildup of vehicles and it is difficult for many vehicles to find a parking space. The Maspul Jaya boarding house as an example has challenges in managing parking because there are a large number of residents with 60 rooms and a limited number of parking lots, which means residents often have difficulty getting a parking space in the boarding house area. This research aims to design a prototype parking management system using NodeMCU and RFID card technology as a replacement for room number stickers on Maspul Jaya Boarding House residents' vehicles with a multiplatform Android and iOS-based application connected to the network. The data obtained will be processed by the microcontroller and sent to the database server and then displayed in the application. The application testing method used is Blackbox and direct testing of the system hardware. The results of this research are that at the entrance gate, residents can enter through the parking barrier if the driver brings the vehicle close to the infrared proximity sensor, the RFID card is registered, the card status is active and the driver is not detected as being parked. When all conditions are met, the servo as the entrance parking gate will open, and the opposite condition will occur on the side of the exit gate. The maximum reading distance between the object and the sensor is 8 cm and RFID cards can be read at a maximum distance of 3 cm. Apart from that, the results of black box testing on the input-output of this application function well and are free from errors so that monitoring can be carried out via the application on data related to empty parking slots and the history of vehicles that have been parked using both the Android and iOS platforms. With this system, parking management at the Maspul Jaya boarding house will become more organized and efficient.

Abstract

Driving at high speed and recklessly is the main cause of traffic accidents. In several places speed bumps are installed as a medium to warn drivers to slow down the speed of the vehicle, but the installation of speed bumps in several places has become a problem in itself with inconvenience for drivers traveling at low speeds, so it is necessary to develop an intelligent system to warn drivers when speeding. vehicles break safety boundaries, making drivers safer and more comfortable. At the vehicle identification stage, a combination of the Adaptive Background Subtraction method with the Haar Cascade Classifier is proposed, and vehicle speed estimation is carried out by calculating the time difference in the detection area or Region of Interest (ROI). Testing was carried out using traffic videos with three conditions, namely day, evening and night, with each condition using the same object data, namely 55 images of car objects. The proposed method produces car detection accuracy with an average of 85% and MSE 0.5 in vehicle speed measurements.

Abstract

The determination of the onset of season typically utilizes the rainfall distribution pattern during the climatological period in the form of a bar graph. However, according to previous research, the prediction of the onset of the season can also use the components of Zonal and Meridional winds. There hasn't been much research related to the onset of season in Tana Toraja; therefore, this study aims to determine the profile of Zonal and Meridional winds at the 850 mb level and their relation to the onset of season in Tana Toraja during the climatology period from 1998 to 2022 (25 years) as well as during El Niño and La Niña events. Reference data for this analysis is sourced from daily precipitation records from the Toraja Meteorological Station and daily Zonal and Meridional wind array model data from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). The collected data is then visualized through maps and graphs, followed by spatial and descriptive analysis for the klimatologi period, El Niño, and La Niña events. The analysis findings reveal that the rainfall pattern in Tana Toraja is significantly influenced by monsoonal winds, particularly characterized by the prevalence of westerly Zonal winds during the rainy season. The onset of the rainy season typically occurs in early July, with the peak of the rainy season usually observed from mid-March to mid-April. Zonal winds during El Niño and La Niña events notably impact rainfall accumulation in the Tana Toraja region, resulting in variations in the strength of Zonal and Meridional winds.
