Abstract

Implementation of an Automatic Fish Seed Sorting and Counting Machine to Improve Productivity at the Sari Jati Unggul Fish Farmers Group in Tulungagung Freshwater fish farming plays an important role in providing animal protein and supporting community livelihoods. POKDAKAN Sari Jati Unggul in Tulungagung is one of the fish cultivator groups facing major challenges in seed sorting and counting, which are still performed manually. The manual process requires 6–10 hours for a pond with a capacity of 20–25 thousand fish seeds and involves several workers, resulting in low efficiency and frequent counting errors. Another issue is limited marketing, which relies solely on local networks due to the low utilization of digital technology. To address these problems, the community service team collaborated with POKDAKAN Sari Jati Unggul through observation, discussion, training, implementation, and evaluation activities. The results show that the implementation of an automatic seed sorting and counting machine using optical sensors and a digital counter significantly accelerates the process to 1.2–2 hours per pond and improves production data accuracy. Furthermore, digital marketing assistance through e-commerce development and social media management successfully expanded the partner’s market reach. In conclusion, the adoption of the automatic seed counter and digital marketing strategies enhances production efficiency by 85%, strengthens competitiveness, and provides a replicable empowerment model for other fish farming groups

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the effect of the Human Development Index (HDI) and economic growth on income inequality in East Java Province over the period 2015–2024. Despite sustained regional economic growth, income inequality remains a persistent issue, indicating that economic progress may not be evenly distributed across society. Method: This research employs a quantitative approach using secondary time-series data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency of Indonesia. The data are analyzed using the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression method to identify the partial and simultaneous effects of HDI and economic growth on income inequality, which is measured using the Gini ratio. Classical assumption tests are conducted to ensure the validity of the regression model. Results: The empirical findings indicate that both HDI and economic growth do not have a statistically significant effect on income inequality in East Java during the study period. The F-test shows significance (p = 0.010), but partial t-tests reveal insignificance for both HDI (p = 0.089) and economic growth (p = 0.308). This statistical pattern significant F-test with insignificant t-tests suggests potential model instability due to the limited sample size (N=10) and omitted variable bias, rather than meaningful economic relationships. Conversely, economic growth shows a positive coefficient, indicating a tendency to increase income inequality. These results suggest that economic growth in East Java has not yet been inclusive and that improvements in human development have not been sufficient to substantially mitigate inequality. Moreover, the HDI coefficient (-6.64E-05) is economically negligible: even a hypothetical 100-point increase in HDI would reduce the Gini ratio by only 0.00664, an effect too small to be policy-relevant.  Novelty: This study tests inclusive growth propositions at the provincial level in Indonesia and shows that aggregate time-series models with limited observations are insufficient to capture the complex links between growth, human development, and inequality in East Java. The findings provide a diagnostic contribution by emphasizing the need for spatially disaggregated data and more advanced econometric approaches in future research.

Abstract

Objective: This research seeks to identify the factors that potentially influence income inequality from the perspective of welfare (Human Development Index/HDI), economic factors (economic growth), and demographics (population) in the cities of Malang, Madiun, and Surabaya. Method: This study was conducted using a quantitative panel data regression method over the period 2020-2024, using Gretl software. Results: This study’s findings indicate that HDI has a positive and massive impact on income inequality. Economic growth has no significant effect, while population has a negative and big implication on income inequality. These results imply local government policies related to the equitable distribution of HDI, optimisation of economic growth, and the creation of job opportunities. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in its focus on areas classified as cities by the central statistics agency in East Java, which face issues of income inequality, specifically the cities of Malang, Madiun, and Surabaya which have never been studied based on the most recent year.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically explore the integration of digital technology and problem-solving strategies in economic learning, with a particular focus on developing countries, especially Indonesia. A qualitative approach using the Systematic Literature Review method was applied to ten internationally indexed scientific articles published between 2021 to 2025. Data analysis was conducted using NVivo 12 Plus software to examine patterns, research gaps, and relevant best practices. The research reveals three main findings: the integration of digital technology and problem-solving strategies significantly contributes to the creation of an interactive, adaptive, and contextual learning environment through gamification, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and interactive e-learning platforms; limitations in digital infrastructure and low technological literacy among educators are major obstacles; and pedagogical reform is needed through teacher training, curriculum modernization, and digital transformation policies. These findings provide actionable recommendations for educators and policymakers in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 4 for inclusive and quality education. The novelty of this research lies in the conceptual synthesis that integrates digital technology with contextual problem-solving strategies in economics education in developing countries.

Abstract

This study aims to compare between Problem Based Conventional Learning (PBCL) and Creative Problem Based Learning (CPBL) learning models on self-regulated learning in economics. PBCL is a conventional teaching model combined with problem-based learning, which emphasises problem solving with a conventional approach while CPBL is a learning model in which there is an element of creativity that emphasises the use of creativity in solving problems. This research is a type of Quasi Experimental research with Non Equivalent Control Group design. The subjects of this study were students of class XI 5 as the control class and XI 7 as the experimental class at SMA Khadijah Surabaya. The instruments used in this research include economic pre-test post-test questionnaire and self-regulated learning questionnaire. The data in this study was tested using SPSS software. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the economics understanding and SRL skills of students who used the PBCL and CPBL learning models. The experimental class that used CPBL learning model had higher economics understanding and self-regulated learning skills than the control class. This indicates that the CPBL learning model has an influence in improving students' understanding of economic material and students' self-regulated learning skills. Keywords: Creative Problem Based Learning (CPBL), Economics, Experimental, Problem Based Conventional Learning (PBCL), Self Regulated Learning.

Abstract

Economic academic achievement has not reached the good category during learning activities due to a lack of digital literacy, especially data and information literacy. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of digital literacy on economic academic achievement with digital informal learning as a mediating variable. This research uses a quantitative approach with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis assisted by WarpPLS 8.0 software. Data was collected by census techniques and obtained from 236 students in class X and XI at SMA Muhammadiyah 10 GKB Gresik. The results of the research showed that digital literacy has a positive and significant correlation with digital informal learning and their economic academic achievement. In addition, digital informal learning as a mediating variable has a positive and significant influence on the relationship between digital literacy and economic academic achievement. This could be novelty in this research because the mediating role of digital informal learning between digital literacy and economic academic achievement remains unexplored. For this reason, it is recommended that educational institutions and students consider digital literacy and digital informal learning to improve their economic academic achievement. Abstract

Phenomenon/Issue: Economics learning at SMAN 13 Surabaya still faces serious challenges in the form of a dominant teacher-centered lecture method, low student engagement in the learning process, and unsatisfactory cognitive learning outcomes for 11th-grade students. On the other hand, the Independent Curriculum demands the use of more contextual, creative, and student-centered learning methods. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to improve economics learning practices and student learning outcomes through the iterative implementation of CTL integrated with PBL in a classroom action research process. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in examining how the contextualization mechanism of CTL and the problem-driven inquiry of PBL can be integrated systematically to improve economics learning practices through classroom action cycles. Research Methods: The research applied in this study is classroom action research (CAR). CAR is a kind of study that enhances student learning outcomes in the classroom by utilizing a variety of learning development strategies. Results: The research showed that teachers were able to implement this learning model effectively. Furthermore, student activity showed a descriptive increase from the first to the second cycle. These findings indicate that the CTL model integrated with PBL could be implemented progressively to support improvements in the economics learning process across classroom action cycles. Research Contributions: The implementation of the learning model successfully increased student engagement during the learning process, received excellent responses from students, and improved their cognitive learning abilities in understanding material on monetary policy and fiscal policy
