Abstract

Background: Kelakai (Stenochlaena palustris (Burn. F) Bedd.) Is a plant originating from Kalimantan that grows on peat soil. Objective: to determine the antioxidant activity of the leaves of kelakai (Stenochlaena palustris (Burm. F) Bedd.) made by infusion. Method: This type of research is true experimental and research method with post test only control group design. Kelakai made an infusion and then tested for antioxidant activity using the DPPH method. Results: The kelakai infusion positive contains flavonoids. Kelakai infusion has a very strong antioxidant activity at a concentration of 20 ppm with an absorbance value of 0.072 and an antioxidant activity of 86.90%. Kelakai infusion has an IC50 value of 6.4035 ppm. Conclusion: kelakai infusion positive contains flavonoid compounds and has a very strong antioxidant ability with an IC50 value of 6.4035 ppm. Abstract

Background : The used of antibiotics in Indonesia continues to increase, but not accompanied by good knowledge regarding the used of these antibiotics so that they have a high risk of causing antibiotic resistance. Objective : Knowing the profile of the use of Antibiotics in Puskesmas Hantakan and knowing the profile of DAGUSIBU antibiotics in Hantakan and Alat Villages. Method : This type of research is descriptive research with survey methods for the last 5 months from October 2020 to February 2021. The survey was also carried out directly to the respondents of the Hantakan Village RT.01 - RT.06 and in Village Alat RT.01 - RT.04. Results : The used of antibiotics at Puskesmas Hantakan is one of the top 10 drugs that are often prescribed. The type of antibiotic that is most widely prescribed is Amoxicillin. DAGUSIBU's profile on respondents shows that the majority of respondents get antibiotics from stalls, use antibiotics to treat various diseases, take antibiotics not according to intervals, stop antibiotics if they feel that conditions have improved, and still keep antibiotics in stock and dispose of antibiotics in an inappropriate way. Conclusion : Amoxicillin is a type of antibiotic that is most widely prescribed in Puskesmas Hantakan. The use of antibiotics without a doctor's prescription in Hantakan and Alat Villages is still high. The proper management of antibiotics among respondents in the Village of Hantakan and Alat was still low.

Abstract

The search for the presence of flavonoid and phenolic compounds from plants is still being carried out. This is done because flavonoid and phenolic compounds have high potential as antioxidants. Pitanak fruit is a native fruit of Kalimantan and currently there is no research report on the content of flavonoid and phenolic compounds. This study aims to determine the total flavonoid content and total phenolic content of the pitanak fruit peel extract. This research is a quantitative research with descriptive observational design. The assay used the uv-vis spectrophotometer method. The secondary metabolite compounds contained in the pitanak fruit peel extract are alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, steroids, and phenolics. Total flavonoid content is 33,183 ppm and total phenolic content is 126,88 ppm. The conclusion of this research is that the pitanak fruit peel extract has total flavonoid and phenolic levels which can be optimized as a source of medicinal raw materials.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: ISPA adalah penyebab utama morbiditas dan mortalitas pada balita. ISPA akan menyebabkan kematian pada bayi dan balita karena memiliki dampak pada gangguan fungsi pernapasan. Infeksi saluran pernafasan akut merupakan penyakit yang sering terjadi pada balita dengan kejadian tiga sampai enam kali dalam setahun. Pemberian herbal  tradisional sebagai terapi non farmakologi dapat digunakan sebagai terapi pendamping perawatan medis dalam menangani ISPA pada balita. Kandungan herbal jahe dan madu dikenal dapat menurunkan tingkat keparahan batuk di malam hari sehingga mengurangi gangguan tidur. Kualitas tidur yang baik dapat memperbaiki kondisi ISPA sehingga tidak terjadi komplikasi yang lebih buruk.Tujuan: Mengidentifikasi bukti ilmiah ekstrak herbal jahe dan madu terhadap ISPA pada Balita.Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Literatur Review dengan mencari artikel pada database Pubmed, DOAJ, Google Scholar  dengan kata kunci “Balita, Jahe, Madu, dan ISPA” dan diperoleh 6 artikel yang sesuai dengan penilaian The JBI Critical Apprasial Tool.Hasil: Berdasarkan hasil penelitian bahwa hasil yang ditemukan dari enam (6) jurnal Internasional, 5 dengan metode RCT dan 1 menggunakan metode Quasi Eksperimen. terbukti dari 3 jurnal yang membenarkan bahwa jahe efektif dalam mengatasi batuk dan ISPA, dan 3 diataranya masih belum menemukan efek dari madu untuk penanganan ISPA pada balita. Dari hasil yang didapatkan Terapi non farmakologi pemberian jahe madu terbukti dapat menurunkan keparahan batuk serta meningkatkan kualitas tidur pada penderita ISPA.Kesimpulan: Ekstrak herbal jahe dan madu dapat mengurangi batuk maupun ISPA pada balita, terbukti dari 3 jurnal yang membenarkan bahwa jahe efektif dalam mengatasi batuk dan ISPA, dan 3 diataranya masih belum menemukan efek dari madu untuk penanganan ISPA pada balita.Saran: Diharapkan dapat digunakan sebagai obat herbal yang aman tanpa menimbulkan efek samping Kata Kunci: Balita, Ekstrak Herbal Jahe, Honey, ISPA ABSTRACT Background: Acute respiratory infections (ARI) is the main cause of morbidity and mortality in children under five. ARI will cause death in infants and toddlers because it has an impact on respiratory function disorders. Acute respiratory infection is a disease that often occurs in toddlers with an incidence of three to six times a year. The provision of traditional herbs as non-pharmacological therapy can be used as a complementary therapy for medical care in dealing with ARI in toddlers. The herbal content of ginger and honey is known to reduce the severity of coughs at night, thereby reducing sleep disturbances. Good sleep quality can improve the condition of ARI so that there are no worse complications.Purpose: Identify scientific evidence of herbal extracts of ginger and honey to ARI in toddlers.Method: This study uses a Literature Review approach by searching for articles in the Pubmed, DOAJ, Google Scholar databases with the keywords "Toddler, Ginger, Honey, and Acute Respiratory Infections" and obtained 6 articles that match the assessment of The JBI Critical Apprasial Tool.Results: Based on the results of the study that the results were found from six (6) international journals, 5 using the RCT method and 1 using the Quasi Experiment method. it is proven from 3 journals that confirm that ginger is effective in overcoming coughs and ARI, and 3 of them still have not found the effect of honey for handling ARI in toddlers. From the results obtained, non-pharmacological therapy with ginger honey has been shown to reduce cough severity and improve sleep quality in ARI patients.Conclusion: Ginger and honey herbal extracts can reduce coughs and ARI in toddlers, as evidenced by 3 journals that confirm that ginger is effective in treating coughs and ARIs, and 3 of them still haven't found the effect of honey for treating ARI in toddlers.Suggestion: It is hoped that it can be used as a safe herbal medicine without causing side effects Keyword: Acute Respiratory Infections, Extract of Ginger, Honey, Toddler

Abstract

Introduction: Plants have a great potential to be used as traditional medicine, so it is necessary to standardize realated compounds responsible for pharmacological activities or secondary metabolite compounds of a plant. One of medicinal plants is candlenut, this is plant has many uses in almost all parts of the plant. Candlenut stem bark has been used as traditional medicine by the community in Muara Langon village, Paser district, East Kalimantan to treat hypercholesterolemia. Objective: To know the candlenut stem bark ethanol extract containing flavonoid, saponin, tannin compounds and knowing the levels of tannin compounds contained in the sample. Methods: Extraction was carried out by maceration method. Qualitative analysis was carried out by phytochemical screening tests for flavonoid, saponin and tannin compounds by the tube method. Quantitative analysis was carried out by determining the levels of tannin compounds using the titrimetry method by permanganometric titration. Results: The extraction of 500 grams candlenut stem bark and 4 liters ethanol 70% sovent obtained was the extract rate od 4,022%. The results of the qualitative analysis by phytochemical sreening test showed that the candlenut stem bark ethanol extract is positively contained flavonoid, saponin and tanin compounds. The result of quantitative analysis with titrimetry method obtained levels of tannin compounds in the candlenut stem bark ethanol extract is 5,40598 %. Conclusion: The candlenut stem bark ethanol extract contained flavonoid, saponin and tanin compounds and tannin compound levels is 5,40598 %. Keywords: Candlenut stem bark, Tannin levels, Titrimetry.

Abstract

Background: Lipbalm is a preparation commonly used for lips that useful as a moisturizer, decorative, and protect lips environmental influences, and prevents evaporation of the ephitelial cells of mucosa lips. Red beetroot is a ppurplish red plant that contains antioxidant betacyanin. Objective: Identify the formulation of the reed beetroot extract (Beta vulgaris L.) lipbalm based on evaluation results and identify the effect of various concentration of cera alba based on evaluation result. Methods: The research design use a experimental research with quasy experimental with one group post-test only which compare variation of concentration of cera alba to the lipbalm formulation of red beetroot extract (Beta vulgaris L.) as an antioxidant. Results: In the preparation of red beetroot extract (Beta vulgaris L.) lipbalm obtained 4 formulation where formulation I, II, III, and IV met the specifications for organoleptic, homogeinity, adhesion, dispersibility, and pH. Evaluation result of the formulation of lipbalm preparation of red beetroot extract (Beta vulgaris L.), variation in the concentration of cera alba affect the result of the physical and chemical evaluation. Conclusion: Preparation of red beetroot extract (Beta vulgaris L.) lipbalm where formulation I, II, III, and IV met the specifications for organoleptic, homogeinity, adhesion, dispersibility, and pH. The evaluation result of the lipbalm formulation of red beetroot extract (Beta vulgaris L.) theres an effect of variation in concentration of cera alba as base for physical and chemical evaluation. Abstract

Background: Centella asiatica [L] Urban leaves are empirically used for the treatment of acne. One of the chemical compounds that have pharmacological effects is flavonoids. Polar flavonoid compounds can be drawn using polar solvents based on different polarity levels, which can affect the total flavonoid content obtained. Objective: To determine the effective and optimal concentration of ethanol solvent to obtain total flavonoid content from the leaf extract of gotu kola (Centella asiatica [L.] Urban). Methods: This study used a pre-experimental method with a randomized block design and the research method was maceration extraction, qualitative test of color reagents and thin layer chromatography and determination of total flavonoid content using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry. Data analysis to determine the effect of differences in the concentration of ethanol solvent using the non-parametric Mann-Whitney test. Results: The results of the qualitative test of color reagents and thin layer chromatography were positive for flavonoids. Determination of total flavonoid content of 70% ethanol extract was 4,339 mg QE /g and 96% ethanol extract was 1,895 mg QE /g. The results of data analysis of ethanol solvent concentration had a significant effect on total flavonoid levels. Conclusion: Based on the results of research, 70% and 96% positive ethanol extract contains flavonoid secondary metabolite compounds from the results of measuring the total flavonoid levels of ethanol extract 70% more effective in irradiating flavonoids and ethanol solvent concentrations affect total flavonoid levels.
