Abstract

Company performance is a measure that describes the financial condition of a company. The measurement of financial performance is based on the data gathered from financial reports made by the company. One of the popular measure for financial performance is financial ratios. However, financial ratios are only focused on accounting profit and do not include capital cost, so the resulting information cannot give adequate insight on the expected return from the investments made by the investors. In order to provide a solution for this challenge, a new concept has been proposed, that is economic value added (EVA) and market value added (MVA). EVA is a measure of added value generated by a company by reducing cost of capital that will indicated whether the rate of return is higher than the cost of capital expended for financing the investment. While MVA is a cumulative outcome of company performance which results from various investment which has been committed or is expected to be made. Hence, the success in terms of MVA is the success in maximizing the wealth of shareholders by allocating proper resources.EVA is calculated by subtracting after-tax net operating income from weighted average cost of capital (WACC). A positive EVA means that the company gains a greater return than the cost of capital, so that the investors will gain a return from their investment, and vice versa. MVA is calculated by subtracting equity market value with equity book value. Equity market value is calculated by multiplying the number of outstanding shares with share price, while equity book value is calculated by multiplying the number of outstanding shares with the nominal value per share. A positive MVA ( 1) means that that the management has been able to improve the wealth of the company and, by the same token, the investors' wealth, and vice versa.

Abstract

Estrogen is an important hormone in the female reproductive system, as well as other systems in men and women. The decrease of estrogen levels mainly occurs in the menopause phase. The decrease of estrogen is one indication of the presence of various diseases such as cardiovascular disease. Decreased levels of estrogen can be treated by administering exogenous estrogen such as Estradiol-17β. However, long-term administration of estradiol plays an important role in tumor cell growth. Phytoestrogens are plant-basedpolyphenolic compounds that have a structure and biological activity similar to the estrogen. Phytoestrogens can be derived from alkaloid compounds, one of which is found in the soursop (Annona muricata) leaves. The purpose of this study was to analysis the potential phytoestrogens of selected alkaloid in the A. muricata leaves. The analysis was carried out using the insilico approach using molecular docking methods, pharmacokinetic analysis and druglikeness. The molecular docking results showed that the ligands could bind to the receptors on the specific binding site with the lowest binding affinity value approaching the control ligands, namely the Anonaine compound of -8.6 kcal / mol, followed by Xylopine compound of -7.8 kcal / mol and Annonamine of -7.0 kcal / mol. The results of pharmacokinetic and druglikeness showed that all ligand compounds have a good ability to be absorbed in the gastrointestine and have a good bioavalaibility as an oral drug.

Abstract

Social service workers have an important role in the process of the delivery of services to the children who lived in social institutions. However, an excessive workload implicates work stress which causes an impact on service delivery. This study aims to describe the stress faced by social service workers concurrently with social workers and the impact on services at PSAA Putra Utama 3 Tebet. This study used qualitative descriptive research from October 2019 until January 2020. The data is being collected using in-depth interviews and observations method. The subject of this research is social service officers, WBS, and the leader of PSAA. Thus, the results showed that social service workers concurrently with social workers lead to stress due to the heavy workload. This caused the services where the workers are being less friendly to colleagues and WBS. They were also unable to establish intense communication with parents/guardians. Often, the workers postpone the assessment process and the report making for the WBS development, In addition, sometimes the workers are being passive towards the problems faced by WBS.

Abstract

Tax avoidance involves strategies aimed at reducing tax obligations, which can have an impact on both national revenues and corporate governance. Companies with high capital intensity tend to employ tax planning techniques that may lead to more aggressive tax positions. The presence of independent commissioners can provide impartial oversight, thereby improving governance and potentially discouraging aggressive tax practices. This research seeks to investigate the influence of Capital Intensity and Independent Commissioners on Tax Aggressiveness within the property and real estate sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) between 2017-2021. Employing a quantitative approach, the study utilized purposive sampling to select 8 companies with 5 years of financial data, resulting in a total sample size of 40 samples that met specific criteria. Financial statement data was analyzed using various statistical tests, model estimation methods, and regression analyses. The findings suggest that both Capital Intensity and Independent Commissioners collectively impact Tax Aggressiveness, although individually they do not have a significant effect.

Abstract

Discrimination to voters with disabilities occurs recurrently although many efforts are taken to break such discrimination through regulations. This study intends to specifically describe the accessibility of voters with disabilities in the 2019 election, the obstacles, and recommendation for policy designs to improve the accessibility of voters with disabilities in elections. The simultaneous elections of 2019 which involve the legislative and presidential elections contribute to the complexity of the election, especially for the voters with disabilities. The qualitative research approach applies the analytical descriptive method. The data collection used literature studies on regulations, research results and articles related to disability. Primary data were obtained from interviews and observations (March-April 2019) in the city of Semarang. The data were also collected from documentary studies and online news searches regarding the policies/programs/activities of the General Election Commission (KPU), the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) and organizations of disabilities, including using excerpts from their statements. The results of this study conclude that during the 2019 General Election KPU has not been able to remove social barriers to the fulfillment of the rights of disabled voters. The findings show that there is still discrimination for voters with disabilities in the 2019 elections which strengthens the findings of previous researches, although the regulatory aspect is better. The KPU policy of providing polling station (TPS) Akses at all polling stations is actually not effective in meeting their needs based on the types of disability. There are limitations on the budget and the availability to follow the topographic requirements of TPS Akses. As a recommendation, the quality of service needs to be improved by maximizing the accuracy of data for voters with disabilities, using the data as the basis for procurement and distribution of logistics and the establishment of TPS Akses, and as well as institutionalizing the synergy between KPU, local governments, and disabled community organizations/activists.

Abstract

Suara pemilih perempuan pedesaan jumlahnya cukup signifikan, tetapi dipertanyakan kualitas.
