Abstract

Background. Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) has emerged as an innovative approach in healthcare, particularly for monitoring patients with chronic conditions such as cancer. Variations in approaches in research and clinical practice can lead to differences in interpretation among healthcare professionals and researchers. Research Objectives. This study aims to explore the concept of remote patient monitoring. Method. Concept analysis was conducted following the eight-step approach by Walker and Avant: selecting the concept, determining the purpose of the analysis, identifying all uses of the concept, determining defining attributes, identifying model cases, identifying borderline and contradictory cases, identifying antecedents (preceding factors) and consequences, and defining empirical referents. A literature review was conducted using the Google Scholar, Scopus, ScienceDirect, EBSCOhost, and ProQuest databases to identify articles published between 2018 and 2024. Results. The analysis identified five main attributes of RPM: continuous monitoring, technology integration, multidisciplinary collaboration, service accessibility, and patient-centered care. These attributes are theoretically associated with positive consequences such as early detection of complications, improved health outcomes, cost-effectiveness, and patient empowerment and quality of life. Preceding factors include the availability of digital technology and infrastructure, the healthcare needs of cancer patients, challenges in accessing healthcare services, and patients' digital literacy and readiness. Conclusion. This study contributes theoretically by providing a conceptual model of RPM that can serve as a foundation for developing digital nursing practices and RPM implementation policies in oncology services. Standardizing the definition and conceptual modeling of RPM is crucial to ensuring consistent and effective integration within cancer patient care systems, where nurses play a central role in data interpretation and interprofessional coordination. Abstract

ABSTRACT Introduction: Cancer is one of the most challenging and high-risk diseases, which not only affects the physical health of patients but also their mental and emotional health. Objective: to explore the effect of social support and psychological support on improving the quality of life of cancer patients. Method: This Article used a systematic review method compiled based on the Preferred Referring Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes (PRISMA). The databases used include ProQuest, Jstor, Science Direct, Pubmed. Results: 11 articles that met the inclusion criteria were then analyzed and critiqued using the CASP instrument. Conclusion: social support and psychological support have a significant impact on improving the quality of life of cancer patients. Consistent social support from the surrounding environment plays an important role in providing a sense of security and reducing feelings of isolation and improving emotional well-being. In addition, psychological support through professional interventions not only reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression but also increases life expectancy and mental resilience of patients. Therefore, the integration of these two types of support in cancer patient care is highly recommended to maximize the quality of life of patients. Further research is needed to identify more specific and effective intervention methods in diverse contexts. Keywords: social support, psychological support, cancer, quality of life

Abstract

Fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) makes cancer patients physically and psychologically disturbed. FCR is caused by cancer patients' lack of ability or competence to exercise self-control (self-efficacy) while undergoing cancer treatment. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and fear of recurrence in cervix cancer patients. The method used was cross-sectional, and it was carried out on 169 cervix cancer patients using the CBI (Cancer Behaviour Inventory) instrument to measure self-efficacy and the FCRI (Fear of Cancer Recurrence) instrument to measure fear of recurrence. The results showed that low self-efficacy 90 patients (52,3%) and high fear of cancer recurrence 89 patients (55%). The domain of coping with medication and side effects had the lowest Self-efficacy with 96 patients (56.8%) and the domain of functional impairment was the highest FCR domain with 84 patients (49.7%). However, that a significant relationship between self-efficacy and FCR in cervix cancer patients (p=0,012) with an OR 2,290. Self-efficacy is needed by cancer patients to overcome their fear of cancer recurrence. Therefore, help from health workers is needed to increase the self-efficacy of cancer patients.

Abstract

Attitude is one of the domains in the competence of nurses. Attitudes are formed through internalizing learning experiences related to how students feel when they learn. Affective Learning refers to learning that enriches emotions, belief systems, and professional values. In nursing education, the attitude aspect is often the goal of learning but is not followed by learning strategies and evaluations to achieve these learning goals. The research aims to identify effective learning strategies and measure tools used to identify changes from the affective skills or affective aspect studied. A systematic review using electronic literature databases published from year 2012 until 2022. Scopus Search, Clinical Key Nursing, ProQuest, Ebscohost, SAGE Journals, and Science Direct. The research design criteria are randomized control trials and quasi-experimental studies. Eligibility assessment by conducting a critical appraisal using tools from the Joanna Briggs Institute critical appraisal. 15 articles met the criteria, consisting of five Randomized Control Trial research articles, and 10 Quasi-experimental articles. The results of a systematic review show that Simulations using standardized patients and reflective practice are learning methods that are often used. Empathy is the most researched affective aspect followed by communication, self-efficacy, and self-confidence. Empathy as the most affective aspect studied was measured using The Jefferson Empathy Scale. Learning interventions aimed to improve an affective aspect of nursing students are not single, but integrate various learning methods. This is also influenced by the affective aspect developed in learning, which is not a single aspect, and uses several measuring tools to assess its development.
