Abstract

The misuse of health data stored in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system can be uncontrolled. For example, mishandling of privacy and data security related to Corona Virus Disease-19 (COVID-19), containing patient diagnosis and vaccine certificate in Indonesia. We propose a system framework design by utilizing the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) and Blockchain technology to overcome this problem. The IPFS environment supports a large data storage with a distributed network powered by Ethereum blockchain. The combination of this technology allows data stored in the EHR to be secure and available at any time. All data are secured with a blockchain cryptographic algorithm and can only be accessed using a user's private key. System testing evaluates the mechanism and process of storing and accessing data from 346 computers connected to the IPFS network and Blockchain by considering several parameters, such as gas unit, CPU load, network latency, and bandwidth used. The obtained results show that 135205 gas units are used in each transaction based on the tests. The average execution speed ranges from 12.98 to 14.08 GHz, 26 KB/s is used for incoming, and 4 KB/s is for outgoing bandwidth. Our contribution is in designing a blockchain-based decentralized EHR system by maximizing the use of private keys as an access right to maintain the integrity of COVID-19 diagnosis and certificate data. We also provide alternative storage using a distributed IPFS to maintain data availability at all times as a solution to the problem of traditional cloud storage, which often ignores data availability. Doi: 10.28991/esj-2021-SP1-013 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

COVID-19 is a very dangerous respiratory disease that can spread quickly through the air. Doctors, nurses, and medical personnel need protective clothing and are very careful in treating COVID-19 patients to avoid getting infected with the COVID-19 virus. Hence, a medical telepresence robot, which resembles a humanoid robot, is necessary to treat COVID-19 patients. The proposed self-balancing COVID-19 medical telepresence robot is a medical robot that handles COVID-19 patients, which resembles a stand-alone humanoid soccer robot with two wheels that can maneuver freely in hospital hallways. The proposed robot design has some control problems; it requires steady body positioning and is subjected to disturbance. A control method that functions to find the stability value such that the system response can reach the set-point is required to control the robot's stability and repel disturbances; this is known as disturbance rejection control. This study aimed to control the robot using a combination of Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) control and a Kalman filter. Mathematical equations were required to obtain a model of the robot's characteristics. The state-space model was derived from the self-balancing robot's mathematical equation. Since a PID control technique was used to keep the robot balanced, this state-space model was converted into a transfer function model. The second Ziegler-Nichols's rule oscillation method was used to tune the PID parameters. The values of the amplifier constants obtained were Kp=31.002, Ki=5.167, and Kd=125.992128. The robot was designed to be able to maintain its balance for more than one hour by using constant tuning, even when an external disturbance is applied to it. Doi: 10.28991/esj-2021-SP1-016 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

The development of science and technology will increasingly have an impact on human life, especially electronic devices at home. In-home reservoirs, commonly, the owner of the water pump cannot detect the level of the water reservoir in his house due to no automation in the water pump. This study seeks to design a device that can control one water pump for filling three reservoirs, where the reservoir filling path will be regulated by a solenoid valve. It also aims to increase the efficiency of electrical energy in the water pump and be monitored by homeowners. The research was conducted at Yulihamri's rented house on Merak Sakti Road. In testing the measurement of electrical energy without using a control, the results obtained in the first reservoir of 1253.99 Wh, 2072.83 Wh, and 2136.27 Wh in the first, second, and third reservoirs, respectively. Meanwhile, in testing the measurement of electrical energy using the control system, the results obtained on all reservoirs in sequence are 1234.70 Wh, 1754.52 Wh, and 1644.12 Wh. The electric energy efficiency of the water pump after using the control system enhance by 15%. The contribution of this research is to reduce the use of excessive electrical energy due to the filling of water that exceeds the storage capacity so as to make it inefficient for the use of electrical energy as well as the water released. The research also limits the use of electrical energy at the end of the month, which makes this system more efficient compared to other systems.

Abstract

Blockchain came because of the occurrence of incredulity to single authorities by introducing the concept of network decentralization and data distribution saved in a ledger. Decentralization is used to validate discrepancies in the majority of data. The consensus mechanism collectively maintains the consistency of the ledger. A blockchain is a set of blocks containing transaction data interconnected to each other using the concept of cryptography. A mining process is an effort to add new blocks to the blockchain. The mining computer carries out the process after passing several complex mathematical problems. The fastest miner is rewarded with crypto coins. Some consensus mechanisms commonly used in blockchain are proof of work, proof of stake, practical byzantine fault tolerance, and proof of elapsed time. Blockchain network is designed and implemented in such a way that it can guarantee the security of its data, is easy to be audited, is robust to denial of service and majority attacks, and is private and confidential. The application of blockchain is not limited to finance systems; it can also be applied in health, education, supply chain, and state democracy systems.

Abstract

DC motor is an industrial motor that is practical for many applications and implementations. However, the speed of a DC motor often decreases because of the given load, thus causing it to be unstable and inconstant. In addition, parameter uncertainty is another issue of DC motors. The performance of the system will be impacted by the uncertainty. Therefore, in this study, SMC is used as speed control of the DC motor since it can handle non-linear plants. The performance also compares with PID to know the effectiveness of the SMC method in DC motor speed control. This study proposes a hardware design and implementation of DC motor angular speed control on Arduino UNO as an embedded control system. The performance comparison analysis results proved that both controllers could perform well. However, both controllers need further fine-tuning. There are still overshoot and steady-state errors for PID and SMC, respectively. In future work, the optimization method can be used to find the optimal gain or by combining it with an adaptive algorithm.

Abstract

The accurate estimation of speed is crucial for optimizing the performance and efficiency of DC motors, which find extensive applications in various domains. However, the presence of noise ripple, caused by interactions with magnetic or electromagnetic fields, poses challenges to speed estimation accuracy. In this article, we propose the implementation of the Kalman Filter method as a promising solution to address these challenges. The Kalman Filter is a recursive mathematical algorithm that combines measurements from multiple sources to estimate system states with improved accuracy. By employing the Kalman Filter, it becomes possible to estimate the true speed of DC motors while effectively reducing the adverse effects of noise ripple. This research focuses on determining the optimal values for the Kalman Filter parameters and conducting experiments on a DC motor to evaluate the performance of the proposed approach. The experimental results demonstrate that the Kalman Filter significantly improves the control of speed oscillations and enhances the stability of the DC motor system. Furthermore, a comprehensive analysis of the system's response and parameter tuning reveals the impact of different parameter combinations on settling time, overshoot, and rise time. By carefully selecting appropriate parameters, the proposed approach contributes to accurate speed estimation and effective control of DC motors, advancing the understanding and application of the Kalman Filter in various relevant fields. Overall, this research provides valuable insights into enhancing the performance and efficiency of DC motors through the integration of the Kalman Filter method.
