Abstract

The integration of electrochemistry and sustainable development has gained increasing scholarly attention in response to global energy transitions and sustainability agendas. This study maps the evolution, intellectual structure, and emerging themes of research at the intersection of electrochemistry, sustainable development, and chemistry education using a bibliometric approach. A total of 2,204 publications indexed in Scopus between 2000 and 2026 (with 2026 data limited to publications available up to February) were analyzed using Biblioshiny and VOSviewer. The results show a sharp increase in publication output after 2018, reflecting growing interest in sustainability-oriented electrochemical research. Research productivity and citation impact are concentrated in countries such as China and the United States, as indicated by publication counts and citation metrics. Thematic analyses reveal that dominant research areas are driven by technological domains, particularly lithium ion batteries, hydrogen production, electrocatalysis, and machine learning applications. Overlay and trend analyses further indicate the recent expansion of data-driven approaches in electrochemical research. However, only a limited proportion of publications explicitly address educational perspectives, indicating that pedagogical constructs remain peripheral within the field. In this study, transformative educational perspectives refer to approaches that integrate sustainability competencies, systems thinking, and real world problem solving into chemistry learning. The findings suggest a growing imbalance between rapid technological advancement and relatively limited pedagogical integration. This study provides a structured overview of research development and highlights the need for stronger alignment between electrochemical innovation and sustainability-oriented chemistry education.

Abstract

To minimize the negligence when charging electric vehicles, it is deemed important to have an internet of things (IoT) based monitoring system using a notification feature. The monitoring system of electric vehicle battery charging used a voltage divider and temperature sensor (DS18B20) installed on the Arduino Mega 2560 microcontroller with the addition of an ESP8266 Wi-Fi module for sending microcontroller data into the Blynk platform. A notification feature was added as the reminder that the battery has been overcharging or overheating. This study applied the Mamdani fuzzy logic method to determine the conditions when notifications must appear. The results of the application of the Mamdani fuzzy logic method were able to determine the conditions for push notifications to appear using the parameters as desired; by so doing, it is possible to create a battery monitoring system with accurate push notification feature to prevent the battery from being overcharged and overheated.

Abstract

This study compared the energy efficiency of 350 W and 400 W DC motors on the Niskala electric vehicle prototype under different gear ratios. Experimental testing was conducted using three gear combinations: 12T–17T, 12T–22T, and 12T–24T. The prototype was operated under each configuration, and energy consumption was measured with a Wh meter to determine efficiency as travel distance per unit of energy. The results showed that the 350 W DC motor combined with the 12T–17T gear configuration produced the lowest energy efficiency, at 248.3 km/kWh. This result indicates that the configuration did not provide optimal motor performance under the test conditions. In contrast, the 400 W DC motor with the 12T–24T gear combination achieved the highest energy efficiency, reaching 280.3 km/kWh. These findings indicate that higher motor power, combined with an appropriate gear ratio, can help maintain more optimal operating conditions. Therefore, the 400 W DC motor with the 12T–24T gear combination was the most optimal configuration for the Niskala electric vehicle prototype.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is a central goal of science education and is commonly assessed using diverse instruments across educational levels and contexts. However, internal consistency estimates are sample dependent and may vary across studies. This study conducted a reliability generalization meta analysis of Cronbach’s alpha coefficients reported for scientific literacy instruments. A systematic search of the Scopus database identified empirical studies reporting Cronbach’s alpha for scientific literacy instruments. In total, 19 studies providing 20 reliability estimates, comprising 10,163 participants, were included. Reliability generalization and moderator analyses were conducted using mixed effects models in jamovi. The pooled Cronbach’s alpha was 0.814 (95% CI [0.776, 0.853]), suggesting high average internal consistency; however, the extreme heterogeneity (I² = 99.42%) indicates that this estimate represents an overall average rather than a stable or universally generalizable reliability value. Moderator analyses showed that education level, instrument type, study design, item group, and geographical region were not significant moderators of reliability, indicating that these characteristics did not explain the substantial variability across estimates. Publication bias assessment suggested a low risk of bias, although sensitivity analysis showed that the pooled estimate was influenced by the exclusion of low alpha values. For instrument developers, these findings emphasize the need to establish reliability evidence for specific target populations and contexts rather than relying on a pooled reliability coefficient. Future research should investigate additional methodological and contextual factors that may explain the substantial heterogeneity.

Abstract

The increasing penetration of wind energy systems requires advanced control strategies capable of maintaining stable operation during grid disturbances while complying with modern GC requirements. This paper proposes a COA-based control scheme for a DC chopper integrated into a PMSWG system to enhance its FRTC under severe voltage disturbances. The COA is employed to optimally tune the controller parameters, ensuring effective regulation of the DC-link voltage and improved transient performance. The proposed approach is evaluated under four critical grid conditions, including three voltage dip scenarios corresponding to 100%, 80%, and 40% retained voltage levels, as well as a 20% voltage swell condition. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed controller maintains the DC-link voltage close to its reference value of 1150 V, preventing excessive overvoltage during fault events and reducing stress on power electronic converters. Moreover, the control strategy satisfies GC requirements by providing appropriate reactive power support during VDs while ensuring controlled active power transfer. The optimized controller effectively suppresses electromagnetic torque oscillations, limits transient current peaks in the GSC, and enables rapid recovery of generator speed following fault clearance. Comprehensive MATLAB/Simulink studies confirm that the proposed COA-based DC chopper control significantly improves system transient stability, enhances grid-support capability, and ensures reliable operation under both voltage dip and swell conditions. In addition, the improved DC-link voltage regulation contributes to increased converter lifetime and reduced operational downtime, demonstrating the practicality and effectiveness of the proposed solution for modern wind energy conversion systems.

Abstract

This work introduces a novel energy management system based on radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) adapted for both grid-connected and segmented modes. The system components are electrical distribution grid, wind generator, power electronic converters and batteries. The study uses intelligent control and prevents the spread of potential problems or disturbances. This system incorporates various controllers responsible of specific functions like MPP monitoring, of battery charging and discharging, and of an inverter for effectively managing the transition between energy sources based on load requirements and available sources operating at their MPP. The objectives are to facilitate coordinated operation among distributed energy resources, ensuring the provision of necessary active power and additional services as necessary. The simulation uses MATLAB/Simulink environment. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed strategy. Overall, the obtained results affirm the practicality and advantages of employing neural networks in energy management systems.
