Abstract

The jigsaw is the technique that can be used in many different ways to increase the involvement of students in their own learning. Jigsaw technique can create an effective learning environment. By the jigsaw technique, the students are divided into groups. The groups consist of 5-6 students. The purpose of this research is to study the effect of jigsaw technique on the academic performance of the students in writing narrative. The research has been performed on first semester students of STIKOM Tunas Bangsa Pematang Siantar. The researcher wanted to find out whether or not Jigsaw Technique can increase the students writing skill and to analyze the classroom situation when the Jigsaw Technique is implemented in writing class. This research used CAR and composed for two or more cycles then it observed and evaluated to identify all facts including the success and the failure of the action. After the implementation of jigsaw Technique in every cycle, the students’ writing scores were getting better. It can be seen from the result of students’ average score Cycle 1 was 46.86 and Cycle 2 was 82.23. It can be concluded that Jigsaw Technique can increase their ability in writing narrative text.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan karakter tokoh utama novel Dikta dan Hukum karya Dhia’an Farah dengan menggunakan teori psikologi yang dikembangkan Sigmund Freud yang meliputi tiga aspek, yaitu aspek id, (batin/ketidaksadaran), aspek ego (prakesadaran), aspek super ego (kesadaran) serta konflik batin yang dialami oleh tokoh utama dan sikap tokoh utama dalam novel tersebut. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah novel yang berjudul “Dikta dan Hukum” karya Dhia’an Farah yang diterbitkan oleh Asoka Aksara x Loveable, cetakan keempat, Juni 2021 dan berjumlah 388 lembar halaman. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah kutipan kalimat yang terdapat pada teks novel “Dikta dan Hukum” karya Dhia’an Farah. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik baca dan catat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari keseluruhan isi cerita dalam novel ini telah ditemukan aspek id sebanyak 16, aspek ego sebanyak 15, dan aspek super ego sebanyak 22 yang terdapat di dalam tokoh utama yang bernama Dikta. Konflik batin yang dialami oleh tokoh utama terdiri dari dua hal yaitu dalam segi asmara dan pekerjaan serta sikap tokoh utama yang meliputi sikap disiplin, empati, adil, toleransi, harmonis, setia, perduli kepada sesama, dan tolong menolong.

Abstract

Financial litarcy is essential to be implemented seriously in individual life. The good financial management will lead someone into prosperity and the poor financial management will lead into financial collapse. Education background affects someone’s ability in managing their expenses. The higher education, the better understanding on financial literacy . The purpose of this study was to gain the information from the 8th semester college students year 2023 STIE Bina Karya about their financial litearcy. This study implemented qualitative method which took 36 informants who represent each class. The researcher distributed open-ended questions through online based questionaire to obtain the data. The data then analyzed by utilyzing thematic analysis. The findings of this study were STIE Bina Karya the 8th semester students knew well about financial literacy, they have implemented the four parts of financial literacy those were: personal financial management, bank deposits, insurance, and stock investment. The implication of this research findings was to enhance the number of college students’ understanding of financial literacy and to inform the benefits after implementing the correct financial literacy.

Abstract

Reading literacy is a crucial skill that empowers individuals to comprehend, analyze, and engage with written information effectively. The importance of reading literacy in both personal and societal contexts highlighted the cognitive and emotional benefits of strong reading skills, including expanded knowledge, critical thinking, and empathy. Additionally, it addresses the essential role of reading literacy in education, career development, and lifelong learning. The informants of this research were 135 college students who represented each semester. The data were analyzed by implementing descriptive qualitative method. The findings were reading literacy of management study program studentsare almost the same with others study programs. They prefer to read e-book rather than purchasing on offline or online bookshop. It found that before the end of the semester the students’ reading percentage were high because they have to finish their task as directed by the lectures. Besides reading e-book rather than purchasing books, library is the best place to read and do discussion whenever they have individual or group task.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh implementasi hasil pembelajaran terhadap interaksi digital native di media sosial. Penelitian dilakukan terhadap mahasiswa Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (FKIP) Universitas Simalungun. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 59 responden. Dalam penelitian ini, penarikan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Jenis data yang digunakan adalah data primer. Data diperoleh dari kuesioner yang disebarkan secara online melalui Google Form. Metode analisis data menggunakan metode analisis regresi linier sederhana. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa implementasi hasil pembelajaran berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap interaksi digital native di media sosial. Hasil penelitian ini mengindikasikan bahwa implementasi hasil pembelajaran memiliki peranan yang sangat penting dalam membentuk perilaku digital native saat berinteraksi di media sosial.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the pronunciation errors in reading text made by students of English Language Education department of Simalungun University. This research applied the qualitative approach with content analysis method. The technique of collecting data used a recording, and data analysis by transcribing the students’ pronunciation from recording into the phonetic transcriptions, grouping the students’ errors in pronouncing English vowels and consonants into separate divisions, employing the percentage descriptive analysis to count all errors, and interpreting the result of the data analysis. The result of research is found on English Vowels and English Consonants error. The pronunciation error on English vowel, namely: /i:/, /æ/, /ə/, /ɜ:/, /ɔ:/, and /u:/. The vowel pronunciation error is commonly on pure vowel. It is on a long vowel sound and short vowel sound. While the pronunciation error of English consonants found: /ʧ/, /ʤ/, /θ/, /ð/, /ʃ/, /ʒ/. The consonant pronunciation error appears on voiceless and voice consonants. The other consonant pronunciation error is to pronounce the double consonant. The students assumed that every double consonant would be pronounced with double sounds. The pronunciation error on English vowels and English consonants were caused some factors. Factors of pronunciation error, namely; 1. Lack of understanding and knowledge. 2. Students are nervous. 3. Students are unable to distinguish between sounds that are almost the same. 4. Students lack practice. 5. Native language. 6. Lack of new vocabulary. 7. Lack of confidence.

Abstract

Purpose–This study aims to measure the effectiveness of implementing Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in improving students' speaking skills.Methodology – This study uses a quantitative pre-test and post-test design. Researchers will compare students' speaking skill scores before (pre-test) and after (post-test) using the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) to determine whether there is a significant improvement. The quantitative data will analyse used SPSS to measure the experimental and control classes.Findings – This study show that the experimental class had a higher average score (75.74) than the control class (61.32). The Sig. (2-tailed) is less than 0.05; the difference between the means is statistically significant. There is a statistically significant difference between the means of the experimental and control classes.Contribution – The increase in scores from pre-test to post-test is empirical evidence that project-based learning is an effective learning method for improving student learning outcomes while developing the various skills required for future success.

Abstract

The implementation of techology in education was really helpful. The development of technology has increased the number of intriguing and fresh online resources for English learning. The Duolingo app makes learning languages, particularly English, simple, convenient, and efficient. The presence of Duolingo app offered ESP learners to learn basic English independently. There were several previous researches which explore more about the use of Duolingo for learning language, particularly English. Therefore the aim of this research was to see and analyze ESP learners’ opinion on the implementation of Duolingo in order to strengthen their basic English. This was a qualitative research which took sixtyone ESP learners as the informants. The data of this study was ESP learners answers on the use of Duolingo. The data were gainned by distributing an online and open ended questionaires to ESP learners who took randomnly. The findings were ESP learners enjoyed learning basic English through the exercised offered by Duolingo. Because its offering to practice English skills in daily. Then, they can learn English as if they learn with the real native speakers. The Duolingo program allows students to acquire vocabulary in English, which includes in several features such as gamification.

Abstract

Purpose — The aim of this research is to examine the interest of Generation-Z in travel by exploring the factors that influence their choice of tourism destination and reasons for traveling.Method — To collect data for this research, a qualitative method was employed whereby an open-ended online questionnaire was distributed to 71 individuals belonging to the Z generation in Tebing Tinggi City. We utilized thematic analysis as the technique to examine and analyze the data collected.Result — We found that Generation-Z has a psychological need for vacations to alleviate the stress caused by their numerous responsibilities. When traveling, they typically choose the closest and most renowned tourist destination in their area, without spending excessive amounts of money. Popular activities for them include searching for picturesque locations, experiencing local cuisine, and camping. To travel affordably and efficiently, Generation-Z often opts for private vehicles such as motorcycles or cars, which enable them to visit multiple places.Contribution — This study contributes to the body of knowledge on Generation-Z travel behavior and has implications for the tourism industry in terms of catering to this demographic's unique preferences and needs.

Abstract

Pelatihan penerapan konsep dasar pedagogik bagi guru SMP Negeri 1 Simanindo bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi profesional dalam menerapkan strategi pembelajaran yang efektif, inovatif, dan berbasis teknologi. Pelatihan ini terdiri dari tiga tahapan, yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Persiapan dilakukan dengan analisis kebutuhan dan perancangan materi. Pelaksanaan mencakup pemaparan konsep pedagogik, strategi pembelajaran interaktif, serta praktik mengajar melalui simulasi. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui observasi dan diskusi. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru dalam menerapkan metode pembelajaran yang lebih variatif, seperti diskusi kelompok dan pemanfaatan teknologi. Meski masih terdapat kendala seperti keterbatasan waktu dan perbedaan tingkat pemahaman peserta, pelatihan ini berdampak positif terhadap profesionalisme guru dan kualitas pembelajaran di SMP Negeri 1 Simanindo
