Abstract

Research originality: This research adds the exchange rate variable and the use of the Vector Autoregressive (VAR) model that can add to the financial literature.Research Objectives: This study examines how macroeconomics can impact a business during a crisis. The stock market has associated access with new COVID-19 cases and new deaths in Indonesia. During the pandemic, the exchange rate is critical, so this study observes the exchange rate of IDR against USD. This paper investigates the relationship between new cases, new deaths, and the exchange rate with the stock market index.Research Methods: The study retrieves the daily data from March 2, 2020, to June 30, 2022, from Our World in Data, Indonesia's stock exchange, and Indonesia's Statistic Central Bureau. We have used the ADF, Vector Autoregressive (VAR) Model, impulse response function, and the Toda Yamamoto causality test. Empirical Results: The findings reveal a significant negative impact of new COVID-19 cases, new deaths, and exchange rates on the stock market. Toda Yamamoto's causality analysis reveals substantial evidence of unidirectional daily growth of new COVID-19 deaths in the stock market and a bidirectional causality of new COVID-19 cases and new COVID-19 deaths.Implications: The policy implications of this study are to stabilize markets, impact overall financial stability, support entrepreneurship, and develop a competitive market environment that can encourage innovation. JEL Classification: C5, E31, F31How to Cite:Goh, T. Abstract

This study examines the influence of employee green behavior on the performance of green instructors in the Madrasah context in Medan City, using the frameworks of organizational ambidexterity and green self-efficacy. Adopting a quantitative research methodology, the study utilized surveys as the primary data collection tool. The research population consisted of all Madrasah instructors in Medan City, totaling 229 individuals, who also served as the research sample. Data analysis was conducted using quantitative statistical methods, specifically path analysis. Primary data were collected through surveys, while secondary data were obtained from official Madrasah records. The findings reveal that instructors’ green self-efficacy in Madrasahs in Medan City is significantly influenced by their green behavior. Moreover, environmentally sustainable practices positively impact organizational ambidexterity, which in turn affects teacher performance. However, organizational ambidexterity does not have a direct significant influence on green teacher performance. Conversely, employee green behavior indirectly enhances teacher performance through its effects on organizational ambidexterity and green self-efficacy.

Abstract

The study aims to examine which factors affect the tourism stock price more. The study uses weekly exchange rate and tourism stock prices; the inflation, interest rate, and the number of tourism use monthly data. Using descriptive statistics, correlation matrix, augmented Dickey Fuller's unit root test, VAR, the Granger causality test, and Impulse Response. The results show that all the variables in our observations have no causal relationship. Interest rates do not have a causal relationship with exchange rates, inflation, number of tourists, and tourism stock prices. The VAR models show interest rate has a negative impact on tourism stock price, exchange rate, and the number of tourists positively impacting tourism stock price. Inflation has no impact on tourism stock price. A decrease in interest rates will encourage investment to develop a business. A decrease in the IDR exchange rate against the USD will lower the product's price, so foreign tourists will feel that Indonesian goods are getting cheaper; thus, they will spend more and increase the tourism company's share price. Regulators can use the research results by lowering and maintaining the stability of interest rates, exchange rates, inflation, and increasing the number of tourists to Indonesia.
