Abstract

This study aims to determine (1) students' mathematics learning outcomes in the Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, and Extending (CORE) model, (2) students' mathematics learning outcomes in the problem-based learning model (PBL), (3) comparison of the effectiveness of the learning model CORE and PBL based on learning outcomes. The type of this research is experimental research. Samples were taken using random cluster sampling in class IX students of SMP Negeri 03 Poleang. The results obtained are class IX.A with 20 students as the class utilizing the CORE model and class IXB with 21 students as the class using the PBL model. Data retrieval is done through a test technique to obtain data on students' mathematics learning outcomes. The research data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. The average value of students' mathematics learning outcomes in the CORE model is 83.9, while the value of PBL class mathematics learning outcomes is 77.3. Inferentially, hypothesis testing using t-test obtained tcount = 2.743 > ttable = 1.685 with a significant level = 0.05, indicating a significant difference in mathematics learning outcomes between students taught by the CORE and PBL learning models. Thus, applying the CORE learning model is more effective than applying the PBL model in terms of students' mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is one of the endemic diseases that is still a public health challenge in Indonesia. Although the government has launched various programs, such as 3M Plus and fogging, the number of DHF cases still shows significant variations each year. This study aims to evaluate the community's contribution to controlling DHF by emphasizing the extent to which awareness is applied in real action. The method used is a literature study of 30 scientific articles on DHF published between 2015 and 2024. The results of the analysis show that although adolescents' knowledge of DHF is quite good, the implementation of preventive measures such as cleaning the environment, draining water reservoirs, and eradicating mosquito nests has not been carried out consistently. Several inhibiting factors include low community participation, lack of environmental supervision, and limited support from local governments. Therefore, a more comprehensive approach is needed, including ongoing education, strengthening the role of health cadres, and community-based supervision to increase the effectiveness of DHF control efforts.

Abstract

Elderly is someone who has reached the age of 60 years and above, the menu is not a disease, but a continuous process that results in cumulative changes, is a process of decreasing the body's resistance in dealing with stimuli from within and outside the body. This study aims to systematically review and analyze various scientific literature related to the effect of nutritional intake on the nutritional status of the elderly, as well as the role of the family in meeting the nutritional needs of the elderly. The effects of malnutrition are also evident in social institutions such as nursing homes, where suboptimal nutritional management can improve malnutrition conditions. In other words, malnutrition has a negative impact on the biological, psychological, and social aspects of the elderly. Therefore, a holistic and integrated approach is needed to overcome this problem, including through educational interventions for families, psychological assistance, strict nutritional supervision, and support from a sustainable health service system.

Abstract

The mental state of young people is a crucial issue which has a major effect on the level of life and progress of next generation in Indonesia. This research seeks to explore the aspects that influence young people's mental state through a review of 30 scientific papers published between 2015 and 2024. The findings of the analysis show that young people's mental state is influenced by a variety of internal elements, such as emotion regulation, religious beliefs and gratitude, as well as external factors such as family circumstances, support from friends, neighbourhood environment, social media habits and experiences of being bullied. Excessive use of social media and being a victim of bullying were found to increase the potential for mental problems, such as anxiety, depression and mental distress. In contrast, support from family and friends, as well as a community-based education intervention agenda, play an important role in strengthening adolescents' psychological resilience. This research underscores the urgency of a comprehensive collaborative approach involving many parties, including families, educational institutions, the wider community, and the government, to sustainably improve the mental health of adolescents in Indonesia.

Abstract

A comprehensive analysis of the impact of obesity on school-age children as well as the effectiveness of nutrition education interventions in an effort to mitigate its prevalence. Child obesity, which is based on Body Mass Index (BMI) above 2 standard deviation (SD), has broad implications for physical, social, emotional, and self-esteem health. This condition is also associated with decreased academic performance, reduced quality of life, limb growth disorders, sleep disfunction, sleep apnoea, respiratory complications, as well as accelerated bone maturation and sexual maturity. The findings show that school-based nutrition education is an effective strategy in increasing knowledge and delivery of nutrition interventions, especially when supported by all elements of the school. The duration and frequency of exposure to interventions are crucial factors for the success of nutrition education in triggering behavioural changes. Therefore, the prevention and management of obesity in children through structured nutrition education is essential.

Abstract

Advances in digital technology have brought major changes in human life, including in communication behavior and daily activities. Gadgets such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops are now widely used, including by children and teenagers. However, uncontrolled use of gadgets has a negative impact on physical and mental health. This study aims to examine various diseases and health problems that arise due to the use of gadgets in children and adolescents, through the analysis of ten scientific articles. The results of the study showed various symptoms and disorders including headaches, visual impairments, obesity, stress, anxiety, insomnia, as well as concentration and emotional disorders. Lack of parental supervision, lack of digital literacy, and unfettered access to digital content exacerbate this impact. Prevention through active involvement of family and school, education on healthy use, and time management are important steps in minimizing health risks due to gadgets.

Abstract

Dental and oral health issues in Indonesia remain a critical concern, with a high prevalence, particularly in dental caries and periodontal diseases. Based on data from Riskesdas 2018 and the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey, more than 50% of the population suffer from caries, with the highest rates found among children and the elderly. This literature review aims to identify the characteristics of oral health problems, risk factors, health and socioeconomic impacts, and the intervention strategies implemented in Indonesia. The study employs a narrative review method by analyzing national publications from 2015 to 2025 that meet inclusion criteria. The findings reveal that the main determinants include low oral health literacy, high sugar consumption patterns, limited access to dental services, and socioeconomic factors such as education and income. The impacts include decreased quality of life, reduced work productivity, and increased burden on the healthcare system. Effective prevention and control strategies involve school- and community-based health promotion, the use of technology such as teledentistry and mobile applications, improvement in basic service access, as well as regulatory policies on sugar consumption and incentives for healthcare personnel in remote areas. Multisector collaboration and continuous research are essential to significantly reduce the burden of oral diseases in Indonesia.

Abstract

Air pollution is one of the major public health challenges in Indonesia. This article analyzes the characteristics of main pollutants, emission sources, health impacts, and prevention strategies that have been and are being implemented. Based on secondary data from various government reports, scientific journals, and recent case studies, it was found that emissions from the transportation sector, industry, biomass burning, and forest fires remain the main contributors to air pollution. The impacts include increased incidence of respiratory infections, chronic lung disease, cardiovascular disorders, and economic losses. Preventive efforts such as the adoption of electric vehicles, vehicle emission inspections, and citizen science programs have proven effective but need to be expanded. This article recommends the integration of cross-sectoral policies, the use of modern monitoring technologies, and sustainable public education.

Abstract

Hepatitis B is a viral infection that affects the liver and is transmitted through contact with blood and other bodily fluids. Pregnant women who contract hepatitis B are at risk of passing the virus to their unborn child during pregnancy or childbirth. This vertical transmission is a major contributor to the high prevalence of hepatitis B in many developing countries. The objective of this study is to examine the factors that contribute to hepatitis B infection in pregnant women, focusing on demographic characteristics, behavioral patterns, and access to healthcare services. Employing a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design, the study found that factors such as low educational attainment, a history of using unsterile needles, previous blood transfusions, and limited knowledge about hepatitis B significantly increase the risk of infection. Therefore, educational approaches and enhanced hepatitis B screening in pregnant women are necessary efforts to prevent transmission

Abstract

The habit of smoking and using e-cigarettes (vape) among adolescents in Indonesia shows a significant increasing trend. This study aims to conduct a systematic review of various factors that influence dependence on cigarettes and vapes in adolescents, by analyzing 30 national scientific articles. The results of the review revealed that the dominant factors contributing to this behavior include the influence of the friendship environment, permissive parental attitudes, lack of knowledge, psychological pressure, and exposure to the media. In addition, education was found to be an effective strategy in increasing understanding and reducing smoking intentions. This behavior is also driven by the mistaken view that vaping is considered safer than regular cigarettes. This study suggests the need for a cross-sectoral approach, which includes ongoing education, regulatory enforcement, and the active role of families and educational institutions in efforts to prevent and control cigarette and vape addiction among adolescents.
