Abstract

Abstract

Muntok is an area in the west side of Bangka island which has the potential for offshore fishing, mining, and smelting of tin. Tin mining and smelting can affect cellulolytic bacteria as one of the integration in mangroves. Cellulolytic bacteria can increase the availability of degraded carbohydrates for other organisms. Sampling was done from 3 location of mangrove, namely Tembelok Mangrove, Peltim Mangrove, and Sukal Mangrove. Screening and qualitative identification of cellulolytic bacteria is derived from sediment, weathered wood and leaf litter in the Muntok mangrove. 54 bacterial isolates were identified in screening with CMC 1% enriched media. 24 (44.5%) of them had high HC values in the Lugol indicator, and 21 (39%) isolates in the congo-red indicator. Tembelok mangroves had the highest HC values in the sediment samples, while Peltim mangrove on leaf litter and Sukal mangrove on weathered wood. HC values of isolates of cellulolytic bacteria balanced with fungi, which are more popularly utilized for cellulose degradation. Cellulolytic bacteria potential to increase the digestive value of agricultural waste to substitute fish feed ingredients.

Abstract

Abstract

Color is one of the parameters in determining the value of ornamental fish. Goldfish (Carassius auratus) as one of the popular ornamental fish in Indonesia also requires the best color for its quality. One of the factors that affect the brightness of fish color is pigment-forming materials that can be obtained from feed. Melinjo fruit peel (Gnetum gnemon), which is often a waste, has the potential to be an ingredient to maintain the brightness of fish color with its carotenoid content. Research on the fortification of Melinjo fruit peel extract on goldfish feed used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments, namely (A) untreated feed, (B) feed with the addition of 3.5 ml/100 g of feed extract, (C) 4 ml /100 g feed, and (D) 4.5 ml/100 g feed. The average increase in fish color RGB at the location under the dorsal fin with treatment for 40 days was (A) 5.13, (B) 6.4, (C) 11.1 and (D) 12.77. The four treatments showed significantly different results with the best results being 4 ml and 4.5 ml per 100 grams of feed. Melinjo fruit peel which is an organic waste can be used to increase the color brightness of ornamental fish through the addition of its extract in feed.

Abstract

Cempedik fish (Osteochilus spilurus) is a local fish of Belitung Island that has important economic value in East Belitung but not so in western Belitung. This difference is interesting to compare the perception of the people of West Belitung and East Belitung towards Cempedik Fish. The majority of people in both regions know and consume Cempedik fish. The difference occurs in the way consumers get to fish with the majority in East Belitung getting it from purchases, while most consumers in West Belitung get it from independent fishing. Cempedik consumption patterns are more influenced by the culture of the local community. Cempedik's fishing season in East Belitung is considered to be in the rainy season, while in West Belitung it is in the dry season. The ethno-technology of fishing in the two areas is also different from passive fishing gear in East Belitung and active gear in other areas. Exploitation in large numbers in East Belitung makes the community perceive a decrease in the size and number of Cempedik's catch from year to year so it needs to be domesticated.

Abstract

The people of Pulau Panjang, one of the islands in the South Bangka Regency, rely on capture fisheries for their livelihood. The problem in this area is the presence of non-economic by catch fish, including in districts with high early marriage rates, and the availability of vegetables that must be imported from other islands. Students of the Himpunan Kultur Akuatik carried out Village Development on Pulau Panjang to help solve the problem through aquaponics demonstration plots, counseling on early marriage, and joint activities. Counseling on early marriage and joint gymnastics was carried out with the enthusiasm of the residents, especially children. The aquaponics demonstration plot was successfully constructed using tarpaulin ponds and PVC pipes. The introduction of aquaponics was enthusiastically welcomed by the residents. Fish waste is used as fish feed. The demonstration plot management by the residents managed to start harvesting vegetables in the form of kale on the 27th day and reached a great harvest after 1.5 months. The success of the demonstration plot in vegetable production in an aquaponic system is expected to trigger the Pulau Panjang community to produce vegetables independently.

Abstract

Daphnia sp. is one type of zooplankton that is used as natural food. The potential for catfish culture waste from the biofloc system is not yet known as a source of nutrients in the culture of Daphnia sp. The biofloc system of catfish culture wastewater needs to be tested as a medium for Daphnia cultivation. This research method uses experimental methods, namely experiments and Completely Randomized Design (CRD) methods with 5 treatments and 3 replications, namely control treatment (clean water + chicken manure 5gram/liter), 75% clean water + 25% wastewater, 50% clean water + 50% wastewater, 25% clean water + 75% wastewater, and 100% wastewater. Nitzschia and Melosira from Class Bacillariophyceae and Copepods from Class Maxillopoda were identified in the waste. The use of catfish culture waste in biofloc systems with different concentrations affected the growth of Daphnia sp. Daphnia sp. cultivation media. with a concentration using 75% of the waste produced the highest growth peak on the twelfth day.
