Abstract

This research aimed to find out how the work environment and employee competence influence the performance of employees who work at the People's Credit Bank or BPR Batam City by using motivation variables as mediation. The research used a population of 5 BPRs, ranked 1 to 5, regarding the profit and loss of all BPRs in Batam City. From this population, 210 samples were taken. The sampling technique that will be used is proportionate stratified random sampling or samples taken randomly from a population that is not homogeneous and proportionally stratified, and the research data analysis method used is Partial Least Square (PLS) using SmartPLS software. The research results show that the work environment and employee competence influence the mediating variables, namely motivation, and motivation also positively influences employee performance. Then, the results further show that the work environment and employee competence do not significantly influence employee performance. The limitation experienced when conducting research is that the population taken is limited to BPR employees in Batam City, and other variables can still influence the research results.

Abstract

In the era of increasingly fierce business competition, the quality of human resources (HR) is one of the key factors that determine the success of a company. One Boulevard Food Court realizes the importance of HR as a valuable asset that plays a role in ideation, driving performance, and implementing activities to achieve company goals. However, currently, the employee assessment and recruitment process implemented is not optimal in supporting overall HR development. The unstructured system creates problems in determining the quality of prospective employees and evaluating the performance of existing employees. The unclear criteria and subjective assessment process resulted in many employees who did not meet the company's expectations. It is necessary to design a more structured employee assessment and recruitment form to overcome this problem. This formula is designed based on the company's needs analysis and includes criteria to assess employee competencies, skills, and potential. Through this system, One Boulevard Food Court is expected to increase transparency and efficiency in the administration process, as well as ensure that recruited employees meet the required quality.

Abstract

Occupational safety and health professionals play an important role in improving workplace safety. However, the effectiveness of safety leadership, safety coaching and engagement in improving safety performance, mediated by safety culture, remains under-researched. This study aims to analyze how these factors influence safety performance among occupational safety and health professionals in Riau Islands Province, Indonesia. This study used a structural equation modelling (SEM) approach for hypothesis testing based on data collected from 180 active occupational safety and health professionals using purposive sampling. The results showed that all hypotheses were supported: safety leadership mediated the relationship between safety training and safety engagement with safety performance. This suggests that leadership is important in fostering a safety culture and encouraging proactive employee engagement. In addition, safety training was found to significantly influence leadership and safety performance. The results of this study conclude that strengthening leadership and engagement in safety through targeted coaching and training can significantly improve safety outcomes in high-risk industries. The findings underscore the importance of integrating safety leadership and culture into organizational practices. Future research should explore the long-term impact of safety leadership interventions and the potential for cross-industry application to further improve workplace safety standards.

Abstract

This study examines the role of employee engagement as a mediator in the relationship between workplace comfort, communication, and time management on employee performance within the Provincial Government of Riau Islands. Using primary data collected through accidental sampling, the research involved distributing questionnaires via Google Forms to civil servants who met predefined criteria. The findings indicate that while workplace comfort has a limited direct impact on productivity, effective communication and time management are key factors that significantly contribute to organizational performance. Employee engagement emerged as a strong mediator in these relationships, emphasizing its critical role in enhancing performance outcomes. Theoretical contributions highlight the significant influence of time management and employee engagement in improving employee performance. From a practical perspective, the study suggests that organizations should continuously evaluate these factors and implement policies that promote effective communication, optimal time management, and a comfortable working environment to sustain and improve employee productivity. However, the research is limited to civil servants within the Provincial Government of Riau Islands, which may restrict the generalizability of the findings.

Abstract

This study aims to see how organizational innovation, transformational leadership, and organizational change affect organizational performance with the mediating effect of organizational culture. Until now, the previous literature that analyzed this matter is still very minimal and the discussion of organizational performance, organizational innovation, transformational leadership, organizational change, and organizational culture variables in previous journals is still lacking in detail.  This study used cross-sectional data and a quantitative approach. Sampling is carried out by distributing questionnaires to employees of Roti Garuda Kencana Ltd and testing the hypothesis using the SPSS application. The results showed that organizational innovation, transformational leadership, and organizational change affect organizational performance. Then organizational innovation and organizational change affect organizational culture, while transformational leadership does not affect organizational culture. After that, organizational innovation, transformational leadership, and organizational change affect organizational performance through organizational culture.  Companies can make this research as an assessment and discuss research findings and how to apply them in improving organizational performance. The company is expected to engage relevant stakeholders in discussing how research findings can be integrated into the company's strategy and policies.
