Abstract

Internal and external factors generally influence athlete achievement. The internal factor that mainly influences the athlete's achievement is motivation. Meanwhile, the external factors are parental support and training attained. The research intended to examine the influence of parental support and training on young athletes' performance in Tanjungpinang. A survey research design was carried out using a questionnaire for data collection. Using purposive sampling, the sample calculation results, with an acceptable margin of error of 0.05, showed 194 confirmed samples from various individual and team sports, ages ranging from 8 to 23. The instrument used for data analysis was SmartPLS (Partial Least Squares) software to confirm theories and forecast relationships between variables. The questionnaire was distributed using Google Forms and shared via WhatsApp. This result indicated that parental support directly and mediated by motivation is ineffective in improving athlete performance, while training has a positive and significant influence both directly and through motivation. This research is limited in scope and is only conducted in Tanjungpinang, with a narrow scope of the research and limitations in the variables studied. The study results provide insight for athletes and coaches. The inclusion of parental involvement in the context of sports performance and suitable training concepts will significantly improve athlete performance. This study simultaneously discusses parental support and training and the mediation of motivation to improve athlete performance.

Abstract

Purpose – this study examines the moderating effect of self-efficacy (SE) on the relationship between talent management practice (TMP) and organizational resilience (OR) in electronic and electrical manufacturing organizations in Batam City.Design/methodology/approach – Data was collected by distributing questionnaires using Google Form. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a total sample size of 370. Testing was carried out using the PLS-SEM data analysis method in SmartPLS to test the relationship and level of significance between variables.Findings – The results showed that talent attraction (TA) and talent development (TD) did not significantly affect OR. Meanwhile, succession planning (SP) and talent retention (TR) have a significant positive effect. The moderating role of SE does not significantly affect the relationship between the four dimensions of TMP on OR.Research limitations/implications – This research only focuses on TMP in four dimensions, and on the manufacturing industry, especially in the electronics and electrical fields. Future researchers can conduct research by discussing more deeply on different dimensions and industries.Practical implications – The results provide insights and benefits for organizations to invest in effective TMP, encourage employee SE, and build a culture that supports resilience to realize OR.Originality/value – Previous research shows that OR is rarely studied in relation to TMP or SE, especially in the manufacturing industry. Given this gap, this study examines the relationship between the three.

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of work-life balance, work environment and competence on employee performance, while also examining transformational leadership as a moderator. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 300 Internal Government Oversight Personnel (APIP) at the Regional Inspectorates of Riau Islands Province, yielding 189 valid responses. Using SmartPLS 3.0 and the PLS-SEM method, the analysis revealed that work-life balance, competence, and transformational leadership have a positive and significant impact on employee performance, whereas the work environment does not. Additionally, transformational leadership does not moderate the relationship between either competence or work environment and performance. Practically, the study suggests that enhancing technical skills and professional ethics is more beneficial than improving physical workspace conditions. Given the high competence and experience of employees, transformational leadership may be less effective, and flexible leadership styles (e.g., coaching or mentoring) are recommended. Organizations should also adopt supportive work-life balance policies, such as flexible hours, to optimize employee performance.
