Abstract

This research examines the impact of toll road construction on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) using Creative Destruction theory and contemporary Islamic philanthropy. The construction of toll roads, although accelerating distribution and accessibility, has had a significant negative impact on MSMEs in various regions. This study explores how MSMEs, particularly in North Sumatra, Pekalongan, and Brebes, are experiencing a decline in income due to reduced vehicle traffic. In addition, this article highlights the role of zakat, infaq, and sadaqah as mechanisms to increase the resilience of MSMEs. This research uses a qualitative approach with observation methods, in-depth interviews, and a literature review, showing that Islamic philanthropy can support the adaptation and sustainability of MSMEs amidst infrastructure changes. The research results show that the negative impact of toll road construction is significant, especially for MSMEs that depend on vehicle traffic, such as dodol in Serdang Bedagai, batik in Pekalongan, and restaurants in Brebes. The turnover decline reached 70-80% in some regions. Many MSMEs were also forced to lay off their employees due to decreased income. However, this study also found that Islamic philanthropic practices such as zakat, infaq, and sadaqah play an important role in increasing the resilience of MSMEs. MSME players who regularly carry out zakat, infaq, and sadaqah can show better adaptation, including product diversification and transition to online business models. Thus, Islamic philanthropy provides short-term assistance and supports long-term positive economic changes for MSMEs.

Abstract

Indonesia is a Muslim-majority country with relatively low economic growth. Therefore, the success of monetary policy does not only depend on conventional instruments, but also on Islamic instruments. Islamic monetary policy instruments tend to be more related to real activities and real assets. So that increasing public awareness of Islamic principles will cause the effectiveness of Islamic monetary instruments to become stronger, which will also be followed by increased economic growth. This research aims to determine the effect of PUAS, FASBIS, and SBIS on GDP using secondary data in the form of monthly time series from 2018-2022. Data was collected using the Purposive Sampling technique, with the Quantitative Associative method. The data was processed using Eviews 9 and then analyzed using the VAR VECM method to see the long-term and short-term effects of PUAS, FASBIS, and SBIS on GDP. The results show that there is a two-way causal relationship between PUAS and FASBIS, FASBIS and GDP, SBIS and PUAS, as well as a one-way relationship between GDP and SBIS. There is a significant relationship between SATISFIED and GDP, in the long term. Meanwhile, in the short term, all variables do not have a significant effect on GDP. In the long term, the variable that is strong and dominant in influencing GDP is PUAS and has the largest composition that contributes to the GDP variable. This research provides practical and theoretical implications to increase scientific insight in the field of economics and references in making policy decisions to improve technological infrastructure and regulations that support the development of Sharia financial markets.

Abstract

This research endeavors to examine the contribution of homemakers in enhancing their family's financial status by utilizing oil palm sticks. Currently, at PT Buana Wiralestari Naga Mas Div 2/3, the sticks from oil palm fronds are treated as waste, thus tarnishing the cleanliness of the oil palm plantation. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, data collection involves structured interviews with predetermined questions, direct observation of the phenomenon in the field, and documentation. The findings reveal that oil palm plantations serve as the primary source of employment and income for residents of Pt. Wira Lestari Mas division 2/3. However, the replanting process affects income, prompting many homemakers to seek additional earnings by selling sticks or converting palm frond waste into economically valuable products like broomsticks. This initiative not only yields economic benefits but also contributes to social welfare by offering useful products and enhancing environmental cleanliness. Nevertheless, fluctuating stick prices and obstacles such as the rainy season, festive occasions, and inadequate support from local authorities and PT regulations impede homemakers' endeavors in stick utilization. This underscores the significant role of homemakers in household and local economic advancement, emphasizing the importance of price stability and support from the government and community for sustained economic well-being.

Abstract

There are various types of traditional market revitalization taking place in Indonesia, and not all traditional markets are successful after being revived. One of the reasons why not all old markets are successful after revitalization in Indonesia is because there are no guidelines or standards for revitalization. This research aims to see how traditional market development strategies exist in North Sumatra. The method used is SWOT with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews and focus group discussions. Participants in this research were related government agencies, related agencies, academics, and consumers of traditional market traders. The weaknesses of traditional markets in North Sumatra are the inappropriate market location, inadequate facilities and sanitation, lack of use of digital markets and online transactions. The obstacles are the lack of orderly culture in society in carrying out trade transactions in traditional markets, the existence of extortion, and the existence of modern markets. For strength, namely being able to provide awareness of orderly shopping, being able to create clean and safe traditional markets, and maintaining local wisdom. The opportunities available include support from the local government and related agencies, technological developments, and digital market developments. This research recommends that there is a need for appropriate regulations and sustainable programs for the development and existence of this traditional market.
