Abstract

Abstract

The Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata, KKN) is a form of student engagement in society that plays a crucial role in bridging academic knowledge with practical needs in the field. This article discusses strategies for empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through KKN activities carried out in Desa Sei Mencirim, Kecamatan Sunggal, Kabupaten Deli Serdang. The empowerment program focuses on two main areas: household product innovation and beauty skill training. In terms of product innovation, students collaborated with the local community to produce the “Beningku” dishwashing soap, which requires minimal capital, involves a simple production process, yet holds significant economic value. The product received a positive response from housewives, as it can be used for personal needs or resold as an additional business opportunity. This approach provides the community with new insights on transforming simple materials into valuable products, while fostering local creativity and innovation. On the other hand, in the service skills domain, a beauty class in collaboration with the Mizzu brand provided makeup training for teenage girls and housewives. The training not only enhanced technical skills in makeup application but also encouraged participants to start local makeup service businesses. This activity promotes entrepreneurship and self-reliance while expanding skills that can be applied in daily life or as an additional source of income. The results indicate a significant increase in knowledge, skills, and entrepreneurial motivation among community members. In addition to providing economic benefits through new business opportunities, the KKN activities also strengthened community confidence, participation, and social solidarity. Through a participatory approach, KKN has proven to be an effective strategy in empowering village MSMEs by utilizing local potential and simple innovations, supporting not only economic growth but also enhancing social capacity and community competencies.

Abstract

North Sumatra Province continues to experience economic growth during the 2021–2023 period; however, this growth has not been accompanied by a proportional improvement in social welfare, as indicated by persistently high unemployment and poverty rates across several regencies and cities. Based on secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of North Sumatra, these conditions reflect a structural challenge in which economic expansion has not fully translated into productive employment and poverty reduction. This study aims to analyze the influence of unemployment and poverty on economic growth in North Sumatra Province from an Islamic economic perspective. This study employed a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. The data consisted of secondary panel data from 33 regencies/cities in North Sumatra Province during the 2021–2023 period, obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Data were analyzed using panel data regression with multiple linear regression techniques, preceded by model selection tests including the Chow test, Hausman test, and Lagrange Multiplier test to determine the most appropriate estimation model. The analysis was conducted using Eviews 13, and the test results indicated that the Common Effect Model (CEM) was the most suitable model for this study. The results show that unemployment has a positive and significant effect on economic growth, while poverty has a negative and significant effect. Simultaneously, both variables significantly influence economic growth with a coefficient of determination of 27.1%. These findings imply that economic growth in North Sumatra has not been fully driven by productive employment, indicating the need for policies that prioritize job quality and labor productivity. Furthermore, poverty alleviation emerges as a key policy instrument to foster inclusive and sustainable economic growth in line with the principles of justice, welfare distribution, and social balance emphasized in Islamic economics.

Abstract

The practice of overclaim in the marketing of local skincare products has intensified alongside increased social media promotion and influencer involvement, potentially undermining customer trust. This study analyzes the effects of overclaim, product quality perception, and the role of influencers on customer trust in the marketing of local skincare products. An associative quantitative design was employed in 2025 in Medan, North Sumatra, with a purposive sample of 100 users of local skincare products. Data were collected via a closed-ended questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression with SPSS. Results indicate that overclaim exerts a significant negative effect on customer trust, while product quality perception and the role of influencers exert significant positive effects. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly explain variation in customer trust, with the role of influencers emerging as the most dominant predictor. The study’s novelty lies in integrating overclaim, product quality perception, and influencers into a single empirical model within the context of local skincare products affected by viral social media dynamics. Practical implications include the need for producers to reduce overclaim and strengthen empirical evidence of product quality in promotional activities, for regulators to tighten oversight of advertising claims, and for future research to examine mediation or moderation mechanisms such as influencer credibility and consumer characteristics.

Abstract

Purpose: This research examines the effect of the agricultural and trade sectors on regional economic growth in Deli Serdang Regency from 2015 to 2024, using Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) data.Design/Methodology/Approach: A quantitative approach was applied using multiple linear regression models to analyze the relationship between the agricultural and trade sectors and regional economic growth. Data from the Deli Serdang Central Statistics Agency (BPS) were utilized, and the analysis was conducted with a focus on determining the contributions of these sectors to GRDP.Findings: The results indicate that both the agricultural and trade sectors have a significant simultaneous effect on GRDP, with an R² value of 0.892, meaning 89.2% of the variation in GRDP is explained by the contributions of both sectors. The agricultural sector showed a statistically significant positive contribution, while the trade sector, though positive, did not have a statistically significant impact.Practical Implications: The findings highlight the importance of sectoral synergy in driving inclusive and sustainable regional development. Effective strategies to integrate the agricultural and trade sectors can promote equitable economic growth.Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature on regional economic growth by providing empirical evidence of the simultaneous contributions of the agricultural and trade sectors, underpinned by Islamic economic principles, particularly the protection of wealth, distributive justice, and the pursuit of collective welfare.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and determine the effect of the use of Village Funds on community welfare and to examine the role of transparency as a moderating variable in the relationship. This study uses a Quantitative research type with an Associative Causal Approach. The data source comes from Primary Data with Data Collection Techniques using questionnaires distributed via Google Forms. The population of this study is the community of Bintuas Village, Natal District, Mandailing Natal Regency, totaling 1,136 people, the sampling technique used was the Purposive sampling method using the Slovin formula with an error rate of 10% so that a sample of 91.90 was obtained which was rounded up to 92 respondents. Data analysis used to process the data of this study is Using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with the help of the SPSS 26 program. The results of this study indicate that the use of village funds has a positive effect on community welfare. Transparency is proven to significantly moderate the relationship. An interesting finding is the negative direction of moderation, which indicates that a high level of transparency actually weakens the strength of the positive influence of the use of village funds on welfare. This is interpreted as a trade-off between the demands of formal accountability of high transparency, weakening the agility that has a direct impact on village spending.

Abstract

General Background: The rapid evolution of financial technology has introduced digital payment systems as vital tools for business growth. Specific Background: Within the context of Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), especially in Medan City, these advancements intersect with government policy and religious ethics. Knowledge Gap: However, limited empirical evidence exists on how digital payments, Islamic business principles, and state subsidies collectively influence MSME income. Aims: This study aims to quantitatively examine the effect of digital payment technologies, Islamic business practices, and government subsidies on MSME revenue in Medan. Results: Using a correlational approach and Slovin-based purposive sampling of 100 MSME owners from a population of 70,843, multiple linear regression analysis reveals that all three independent variables significantly and positively affect MSME income. Novelty: The study integrates faith-based economic principles with technological and policy variables, providing a unique multidimensional perspective on MSME growth. Implications: The findings suggest that synergistic support—combining ethical entrepreneurship, digital finance, and government intervention—can enhance income generation for MSMEs, thereby offering valuable policy insights for sustainable economic development. Highlights: Reveals how Islamic principles integrate with modern business tools. Shows digital payments and subsidies boost MSME profits. Offers policy insights for sustainable MSME development. Keywords: Digital Payments, Islamic Business, Government Subsidies, MSME Income
