Abstract

Research Objectives: VO₂max represents the maximum capacity of the body to utilize oxygen during physical activity and reflects an individual's level of cardiorespiratory fitness. VO₂max can be measured using various field tests, including the Bleep Test and the Harvard Step Test. Research Objectives: This study aimed to compare the estimated VO₂max results obtained from these two methods using the same subjects. Methods: This research employed a descriptive approach involving 18 active students from the Sports Coaching Education Program at Campus III of the Faculty of Sport Sciences, Universitas Tanjungpura, as the research sample. The instruments used were the Bleep Test and the Harvard Step Test. In the Bleep Test, participants performed a 20-meter shuttle run following the rhythm of a “bleep” sound until reaching their maximum capacity. In the Harvard Step Test, participants performed stepping exercises on a 30 cm bench for 5 minutes, preceded by a 5-minute seated rest to measure the resting pulse, followed by recovery pulse measurements every minute for three minutes. Data were analyzed descriptively and further tested using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The results showed that the average estimated VO₂max from the Bleep Test was 36.50 ml/kg/min, while the Harvard Step Test produced an average of 36.57 ml/kg/min. The Wilcoxon test indicated a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.704 (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Therefore, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference between the estimated VO₂max results obtained from the Bleep Test and the Harvard Step Test. However, the Harvard Step Test can be considered an alternative method for measuring VO₂max due to its practicality in implementation.

Abstract

Adequate food intake is one of the keys that will support athlete performance apart from regular and continuous training. An imbalance in food intake will result in athletes experiencing "debt" or even "hoarding" in the body. Periodically this imbalance will be seen in the body mass index of the athlete concerned. This research is a survey research with test and measurement techniques. The sample used in this study were weightlifters and weightlifters in West Kalimantan. The instrument used is a test and measurement of weight and height, as well as food recall 7 x 24 hours. For food recall data, data were collected and entered in the nutrisurvey application. Data analysis using descriptive statistics and correlation test. The results obtained from this study are that there are no athletes who have a normal body mass index and no athletes who have a low energy intake status (below 50% adequacy). In addition, the relationship between body mass index and adequacy of energy intake has a low level of correlation (sig. 0.363). The conclusion obtained from this study is that although the athlete's energy intake adequacy rate is still below 50%, the athlete has a high body mass index. The energy intake adequacy rate was not correlated with the athlete's body mass index

Abstract

Background: Risk management studies are an option to ensure planning runs according to programmatic guidelines for optimal athletic performance development. Training programs and healthy living education contribute significantly to improving athlete fitness and abilities. Facilities and infrastructure are also crucial for enhancing athlete performance. Purpose: This study aims to examine the application of risk management in sports. Achieving high performance requires systematic, measured preparation and management. Methods: This research is a literature review. The WOS database used the keyword "risk management" in sports, resulting in 338 articles. A search restricted to the last five years yielded 152 documents, Then the articles were filtered again because they were deemed not to discuss “risk management”, as many as 134 articles. Further narrowing within “the sports science theme” yielded 31 articles. 27 articles matched the abstract to the theme. Results: The research results explain and demonstrate that risk management in sports places greater emphasis on injury management and prevention. This study states that it is important for teachers, athletes, and the public to learn. Furthermore, sports performance development is related to the physical and psychological performance of athletes, the club's organizational structure, the quality of programmed training, and the support of sports facilities and technology. Conclusion: Achieving optimal sports performance requires a strong bond between injury prevention, structured training programs, and good management support.  Implications and Recommendation: To achieve optimal sports performance, it is necessary to integrate injury prevention, a planned training program and good management support.

Abstract

The quality of rest will give a good result for the adaptation of the exercise. Exercise is carried out, so that physical condition has improved. The pulse rate is an indicator that can be used to see the process or results of exercise adaptation. If the waking pulse rate is still high, it can be assumed that time is still needed to rest. This study aims to determine the difference in the pulse rate of waking up from samples who sleeps more than 6 hours and 6 hours below. The research is carried out by experiment. The sample is given 75% weight training with 12 tools for 12 meetings. Pulse measurement is done independently before and upon waking. Data are analyzed using the T-test. Based on the results, it is reported that 25 people are trying to rest 6 hours down and 47 times resting above 6 hours. Based on the T-test analysis, it is found that there is a significant difference between respondents who sleep less than 6 hours and more than 6 hours with a significance of .002 with a mean of -0.8 for those who rested 6 hours and less and 4.6 for those who sleep more than 6 hours. This research can be replicated by considering several variables related to the acceleration of recovery, including Vo2Max, blood HB, and it is necessary to consider the differences between sons and daughters.

Abstract

Somatotype is a parameter used to determine criteria based on body type. However, not many have taken somatotype measurements when selecting prospective athletes. The purpose of this study is to examine the somatotype of fighters in Tarung Derajat Martial Arts. In this study, tests and measurements of somatotype were carried out using manual anthropometric measurements, including height, weight, skinfold measurements at five points (biceps, triceps, suprailliaca, subscapula, and calf), arm circumference, calf circumference, and measurement of the width of the humerus bone and femur. The purposive sampling technique is used in determining the sample. In this study, 15 Tarung Derajat martial arts athletes, consisting of seven men and eight women, were sampled. The results of this study showed that 7 athletes had a mesomorph endomorph somatotype with a percentage of 46%, 1 athlete had an endomorph somatotype with a 7% percentage, 6 central athletes had a percentage of 40%, and 1 athlete had an ectomorph endomorph somatotype with a percentage of 7%. Finally, the dominant body type in Tarung Derajat Fighter athletes is mesomorph endomorph (46%), followed by central (40%). This study's data provide physical characteristics of degree fighters, which can be used to establish a reference for systematic sports medicine research.
