One of the major factors that affects society is the high divorce rate between husband and wife. One of the impacts of parental divorce on children is the rampant phenomenon of anxiety experienced by adolescents. Istighfar dhikr therapy is one way to reduce anxiety experienced by adolescents with divorced parents. The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of istighfar dhikr therapy in reducing the anxiety of adolescents whose parents are divorced. Participants in this study were adolescents aged 13-18 years, male and female, divorced parents, and tended to moderate to severe anxiety levels. The measuring instrument is the HARS (Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale). This research is a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The data analysis technique used in this study was the Mann-Whitney U Test, to see the difference in anxiety between the experimental group and the control group after being given istighfar dhikr therapy. The results showed that istighfar dhikr therapy was able to reduce anxiety in adolescents with divorced parents. The practical contribution of istighfar dhikr therapy in reducing anxiety is 46%.

Abstract

Health workers are under high pressure to carry out their work. This results in physical and mental fatigue. One is the non-achievement of psychological well-being and decreased performance in health services. To overcome the decline in psychological well-being, complementary therapy in the form of Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT) is needed. SEFT is a therapy that combines psychological energy and spiritual power by using a tool in the form of tapping on the body. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of SEFT therapy in improving the psychological well-being of health workers. This study used an experimental design, a Non-randomized Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design involving 30 health workers. The results showed that the experimental group who received SEFT intervention experienced increased psychological well-being compared to the control group who did not receive intervention treatment. Based on the results of the Wilcoxon test for pre-test and post-test in the experimental group, it can be concluded that SEFT is effective for improving the psychological well-being of health workers. Other variables such as personality, age, and environment are recommended to be controlled in future studies.

Abstract

Individuals in emerging adulthood are prone to experience social anxiety, especially in social media, as they are prone to receive responses, criticism, or judgment from others or themselves when sharing content related to themselves. This study aims to determine the relationship between mindfulness and patience with social anxiety in social media in emerging adulthood. This study used a quantitative approach, namely multivariable correlation with the relationship model of three variables analyzed using regression analysis. 542 participants in emerging adulthood who are active social media users were involved in this study. Data were collected using the Social Anxiety Scales for Social Media Users (SAS-SMU), Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), and the Patience Scale. The results of the study showed that mindfulness and patience had a significant effect on social anxiety in social media. Besides, each independent variable significantly reduces social anxiety in social media. Then, mindfulness plays a stronger role in overcoming social anxiety in social media. The implications of this research show that mindfulness and patience can reduce social anxiety on social media. It is necessary to apply mindfulness in daily life to reduce social anxiety in social media in emerging adulthood.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between altruism and teacher performance in private secondary schools in Iganga District, Uganda—a context that remains underrepresented in existing literature. While previous research has explored altruism within corporate and public service sectors, limited attention has been paid to its role in non-profit educational environments, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa. To address this contextual and content-related gap, a mixed-methods approach was employed, combining a cross-sectional survey design with both quantitative and qualitative techniques. Data were collected from 88 respondents, including head teachers and teachers with administrative responsibilities, using validated questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using Pearson product-moment correlation, while qualitative insights were interpreted through content analysis. The results reveal a statistically significant and strong positive relationship (r = .644, p < .01) between altruism and teacher performance. Qualitative findings further illuminate how altruistic behaviors—such as empathy, collaboration, and voluntary support—contribute to sustained performance and institutional cohesion. The study offers a novel contribution by demonstrating how altruism functions as a critical behavioral factor in enhancing teacher effectiveness in resource-constrained school settings. These findings underscore the importance of cultivating altruistic values in school management practices and teacher development programs. Future research should explore comparative analyses between school types and examine institutional support mechanisms that sustain altruism.

Abstract

Divorce is often viewed as a last resort for marital conflict resolution, yet it can lead to significant psychological effects on children, particularly in reducing self-control. This study aimed to examine the moderating role of forgiveness in the relationship between self-acceptance and self-control among adolescents with divorced parents. Two hundred fifteen (215) adolescents in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, were selected using non-probability quota sampling. Data were collected using the Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS), Transgression-Related Interpersonal Motivation (TRIM-18) for forgiveness, and Berger’s Self-Acceptance Scale. Moderation regression analysis was conducted using JAMOVI version 2.3.18. The results revealed a significant negative moderating effect of forgiveness: higher levels of forgiveness weakened the positive influence of self-acceptance on self-control. This finding challenges the conventional belief that forgiveness always enhances psychological adjustment. In certain cases, forgiveness—especially when driven by external expectations or unresolved emotions—may hinder internal self-regulation processes fostered by self-acceptance. Theoretically, this study contributes to the understanding of complex emotional dynamics in adolescents from divorced families. Practically, it suggests that mental health interventions should prioritize the development of authentic self-acceptance and emotional readiness before promoting forgiveness. Programs to support adolescents post-divorce should consider individual differences, the timing of forgiveness, and cultural contexts when designing effective psychological or educational intervention
