Abstract

The ancient manuscript is one of Indonesia’s valuable cultural heritage. One of the primary sources of research, that presence is certainly worthy of appreciation because it also contributes to the development of the scientific realm. Research that utilizes ancient manuscripts as objects of study, has been carried out by many foreign and native scholars lately. But in reality, this ancient manuscript could not be accessed easily. This happened because these ancient manuscripts were not mas-produced and distributed, and there were minimal conservation efforts. Therefore the concern of the government of the nation’s assets is questionable. This paper confirms that efforts to preserve  archipelago ancient manuscripts by Pustaka Nasional Republik Indonesia (PNRI) as representatives of the government, seem to be very slow and inefficient. Their conversation efforts appear to be more reactionary than visionary. So much of the knowledge contained in the archipelago from ancient manuscripts is lost together with the destruction of the ancient manuscripts themselves. The solution must be sought immediately, so that future generations can also enjoy the nation’s cultural heritage.

Abstract

Abstract;Wahabism as a reform movement in Islam has proven to be politically successful, and as a teaching, this movement has puritanical characteristics or seeks to purify Islamic teachings which it considers to have been distorted to suit the version of the teachings it brings. In this article, researchers will analyze Wahhabism from the perspective of a contemporary theologian, Hassan Hanafi. This research is literature-based (library research) and uses interpretive, philosophical descriptive methods. In Hassan Hanafi's view, Wahhabism is a theocentric and textualist theological school, their orientation is to submit and obey religious laws/texts which do not necessarily have any relevance to the reality of the Islamic world. Keywords:Hasan Hanafi; Theology; Wahabisme. Abstract

Grouting is a ground improvement method used to increase the bearing capacity and reduce the permeability of dam foundations. This study aims to analyze the effect of depth on the Lugeon value in Pilot Hole 8 (PH8) during the grouting work at the Cipanas Dam Project Package 1. The method involves conducting Water Pressure Tests (WPT) to measure Lugeon values at various grouting depths, ranging from 5 to 50 meters with 5-meter intervals. The results showed that pre-grouting Lugeon values ranged from 2.60 to 35.52 Lu, while post-grouting values significantly decreased to below 3 Lu. The grouting effectiveness, based on the reduction of permeability coefficients, showed dominantly >80%, with the highest effectiveness reaching 92.10% at a depth of 30 meters. These findings indicate that a depth of 30 meters with a 3-meter interval is the most effective in reducing water seepage according to the design standards. This research provides practical insights for determining the optimal depth and efficiency of grouting works in dam construction projects across Indonesia. Keywords: Grouting, Lugeon, Permeability, Depth, Effectiveness, Cipanas Dam

Abstract

This study aims to examine the construction and design of dragon traps used by fishermen in Insit Village, Tebing Tinggi Barat Sub-district, Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province. Dragon traps are passive and environmentally friendly fishing gear that have only been used since 2022, primarily targeting shrimp, with bycatch including fish and crabs. The research was conducted over two weeks from August 26 to September 9, 2024, using survey and field observation methods. Data were collected through direct measurements of the fishing gear, interviews with fishermen, and visual documentation. The results showed that the dragon traps have a total length of 15 meters, with the main structure consisting of 36 galvanized iron frames. The trap body is made of polyethene (PE) netting with a mesh size of 0.5 inches, measuring 40 cm in length, 45 cm in width, and 30 cm in height. It has 32 entry holes (ijep) arranged alternately. Other components include two catch-holding chambers measuring 50 cm in length, 38 cm in width, and 25 cm in height, PE binding ropes, and 5-meter-long stakes. The fishing location is in shallow, muddy waters with a depth of 2–3 meters and approximately 150 meters from the shoreline. During the study, the dragon traps caught 120 kg of white shrimp (Penaeus merguiensis) out of a total catch of 149 kg. This indicates that the bubu naga is quite effective in capturing shrimp as its main target species.

Abstract

African catfish are a species of fish commonly found in various aquatic environments. Fishermen employ diverse methods to catch fish in seas, rivers, and swamps, utilizing eco-friendly and non-eco-friendly tools. One such tool is electrofishing. Fish behavior is influenced by their ability to adapt to their environment. One observable aspect is the African catfish's swimming patterns and endurance in a research pond. This study was conducted in April 2024 at the Fishing Gear Materials Laboratory, Department of Aquatic Resource Utilization, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Riau. The research utilized an experimental method, with data collected directly in the Laboratory. African catfish were used as test subjects with a 12-volt electric fishing gear. The results showed that at a treatment distance of 30 cm, the fish required an average of 3,5 seconds to respond to the electric current. The use of electrofishing gear has been proven to cause negative physiological responses, including fainting, external injuries, and mucus release in African catfish, which has implications for the sustainability of the African catfish population. After electrofishing, the condition of the fish showed injuries and fin loss on their bodies, resulting in some fish dying during recovery, although the number of dead fish was fewer than the number of surviving fish
