Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning model on students' mathematical computational thinking ability. The sample of this study involved 8th grade students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Hifzhil Qur'an Yayasan Islamic Centre Sumatera Utara in the 2023-2024 school year totaling 53 people. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling so that researchers had 2 class groups, namely class 8-3 as the experimental class and class 8-4 as the control class. The method used is quantitative experimentation with a research design in the form of True Experimental Design in the form of Post-test-Only Control Design. The analysis of this study used Independent Sample t Test and obtained a sig value. <0,001. Thus H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that there is a significant effect of using Problem Based Learning model on students' mathematical computational thinking skills.

Abstract

A Nonparametric regression with a truncated biresponse spline approach is a good method in solving the problem of unknown shape of the regression curve. Truncated splines provide high flexibility in estimating curves that have data patterns that tend to change at certain intervals and do not require classic assumption tests. The purpose of this study was to obtain the best biresponse truncated spline regression model for North Sumatra's inflation and GRDP. This study uses qualitative methods and uses secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics of North Sumatra. Selection of the best model is determined based on the optimal knot point using the minimum GCV value criteria. The research results obtained are the best spline model with 3 knot points with an MSE value of 1.6028 and a minimum GCV value of 0.0452. The value of response 1 is 14.64% and response 2 is 61.85%. This means that the ability of the predictor variable to explain the variance of the response variable is 14.64% and the remaining 61.85% is influenced by other factors.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui validitas perangkat pembelajaran matematika pada materi ajar Teorema Pythagoras berbasis GeoGebra di SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Medan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development yaitu dengan pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran matematika berbasis GeoGebra. Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan 4-D (Define, Design, Development, dan Disseminate). Subjek uji coba dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII-2 SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Medan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran berbasis GeoGebra valid, praktis, dan efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik pada materi Teorema Pythagoras. Penggunaan perangkat ini juga mampu meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika yang abstrak dan memperkuat keterampilan peserta didik dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika. Dengan demikian, perangkat pembelajaran ini diharapkan dapat menjadi alternatif yang inovatif dalam proses pembelajaran matematika di sekolah.ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the validity of a mathematics learning device on the Pythagorean Theorem material based on GeoGebra at SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Medan. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D), which involves developing a mathematics learning device based on GeoGebra. The study utilizes the 4-D development model (Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate). The subjects of the trial are the eighth-grade students of class VIII-2 at SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Medan. The results indicate that the GeoGebra-based learning device is valid, practical, and effective in improving students' learning outcomes on the Pythagorean Theorem material. The use of this device also enhances the understanding of abstract mathematical concepts and strengthens students' skills in solving mathematical problems. Therefore, this learning device is expected to serve as an innovative alternative in the mathematics learning process at schools.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan realistic mathematic education (RME) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan kecemasan matematika pada siswa kelas VIII SMP. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Medan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan metode quasi eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui instrumen tes berupa soal uraian dan non tes berupa angket. Hasil penelitian adanya pengaruh realistic mathematic education terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah berdasarkan R Square adalah 21% dan besarnya pengaruh realistic mathematic education terhadap tingkat kecemasan matematika siswa adalah 31,4%. menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan pendekatan realistic mathematic education lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of realistic mathematic education (RME) approach on problem solving ability and mathematics anxiety in class VIII junior high school students. This research was conducted at SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Medan. This research is an experimental research with quasi experimental method with quantitative approach. Data were collected through test instruments in the form of description questions and non-tests in the form of questionnaires. The results showed that the influence of realistic mathematic education on problem solving ability based on R Square is 21% and the magnitude of the influence of realistic mathematic education on students' math anxiety level is 31.4%. shows that the problem solving ability of students taught using realistic mathematic education approach is higher than students taught using conventional learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan (Science, Technology, Art and Mathematics) STEAM terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis peserta didik di SMP Swasta Diana Medan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan jenis Quasi Eeksperimental (eksperimen semu) dengan menggunakan Nonequivalent Control Group Design dan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Subjek uji coba dalam peneitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Diana Medan. Hasil temuan penelitian ini nmenunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pendekatan STEAM terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis peserta didik pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara pendekatan pembelajaran STEAM terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Swasta Diana Medan. ABSTRAK  This study aims to determine the effect of (Science, Technology, Art and Mathematics) STEAM approach on students' mathematical reasoning ability at SMP Swasta Diana Medan. This research is an experimental research with the type of Quasi-Experimental (pseudo experiment) using Nonequivalent Control Group Design and using a quantitative approach. The test subjects in this research were students in grade VIII of Diana Medan Junior High School. The findings of this study indicate that there is an effect of the STEAM approach on the mathematical reasoning ability of students on the material of flat-sided space building. So it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between the STEAM learning approach on the mathematical reasoning ability of class VIII students of Diana Medan Private Junior High School.

Abstract

This study aims to develop interactive learning media with powerpoint to increase students' motivation to learn mathematics in class VII SMP N 5 One Roof Halongonan. This study also aims to determine the process of media development, feasibility, and practicality of the developed media. The teaching material presented by the researcher is statistical data presentation for class VII SMP N 5 One Roof Halongonan. The subjects in this research are seventh grade students of SMP N 5 One Roof Halongonan.This type of research is research and development that produces a product in a certain area of ​​ability, which is accompanied by certain by-products and has the effectiveness of a product. This research refers to the development model according to Borg and Gall, development research is a process used to develop and validate educational products. The process stages in this research and development form a consistent cycle to produce a certain product according to needs through certain steps including designing the initial product, testing the initial product to find various weaknesses, improving the product, testing the product that has been repaired, product improvement again until a good final product is obtained.The learning media developed in this research is declared valid, based on the percentage score of eligibility by media experts, which is 100% and by material experts, which is 87.5% with a feasible category. From the teacher response questionnaire data, it can also be seen that the teacher assesses the learning media as being very practical with reaching a percentage of 91%. And according to student responses the learning media developed is included in the very practical criteria with a percentage of 92%. The developed learning media has met the very practical criteria.

Abstract

Pertumbuhan populasi tanaman dapat terganggu oleh infeksi jamur yang menyebar secara stokastik, terutama pada tanaman semangka dan melon yang rentan dalam kondisi iklim tidak stabil. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pendekatan matematis yang mempertimbangkan unsur ketidakpastian untuk memahami dinamika penyebaran penyakit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memodelkan perubahan ukuran populasi tanaman yang terinfeksi jamur menggunakan pendekatan stokastik berbasis model epidemiologi SIR dan SITR. Metode yang digunakan adalah pemodelan stokastik berbasis proses Markov waktu kontinu dengan data primer yang dikumpulkan dari observasi langsung di Desa Paya Itik, Deli Serdang. Model ini memetakan populasi tanaman ke dalam kelompok rentan, terinfeksi, dalam perawatan, dan sembuh, serta menghitung laju infeksi, kesembuhan, dan kematian untuk menentukan stabilitas sistem. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa baik pada tanaman semangka maupun melon, model stokastik menunjukkan kestabilan dengan nilai rasio reproduksi dasar (R?) < 1. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa satu tanaman terinfeksi tidak cukup untuk menyebabkan penyebaran penyakit lebih lanjut, sehingga epidemi tidak terjadi. Penyemprotan disinfektan terbukti menurunkan infeksi dan meningkatkan kesembuhan. Dengan demikian, pemodelan stokastik memberikan gambaran realistis terhadap dinamika populasi tanaman yang terinfeksi jamur dan dapat digunakan sebagai dasar pengambilan keputusan dalam pengendalian penyakit tanaman.

Abstract

Background : The ability to read the Qur’an correctly is a fundamental skill that must be developed by teachers of Early Childhood Islamic Education (PIAUD). Variations in educational background and teaching experience regarding Qur’anic learning result in differing levels of Qur’anic reading proficiency among teachers. Therefore, a Qur’an reading enhancement program based on tahsin and tahfizh is necessary to address this gap. Aim : This study aims to examine the implementation of a Qur’anic reading improvement program for teachers based on tahsin and tahfizh methods. Method : This study employs a descriptive qualitative method using a multi-site approach, focusing on two institutions: Raudhatul Athfal Al-Ikhlas Kongo and TK Islam Terpadu Jabal Noor.  Result : This study reveals that the program planning includes a Qur’anic reading proficiency test for class placement, a structured plan for regular Qur’an reading training, and a set evaluation schedule. The implementation is carried out systematically, with the talaqqi method focused on Juz 30. Evaluation involves monitoring progress in Qur’anic recitation, with emphasis on tajwīd, makhārij al-ḥurūf, and waqf–ibtidā’. The results of implementation show positive impacts in three main areas: Teachers’ understanding of tahsin, Practical skills in Qur’anic reading, Improved memorization and a more positive attitude toward tahsin and tahfīzh instruction. Supporting factors include internal elements such as motivation, attitude, and personal readiness of teachers. External factors encompass mentorship, institutional policies, and learning facilities. Inhibiting factors involve limited time, varied initial reading abilities, and inconsistency in independent practice. Conclusion : This research is a Qur’an reading improvement program for teachers at Raudhatul Athfal Al-Ikhlas Kongo and TK Islam Terpadu Jabal Noor. The program has shown promising results; however, regular evaluations are necessary to monitor progress and adjust the applied methods as needed.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics connects mathematical concepts with cultural practices, providing insights into real-life applications. However, its integration into formal education remains limited. This study aims to explore the mathematical aspects of fish traders' activities in traditional markets and highlight their connection to cultural practices. A qualitative ethnographic approach was employed, utilizing library research, observations, and interviews for data collection. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, which involved data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The findings reveal that fish trading activities encompass three main processes: measurement, packaging, and transactions. These activities incorporate mathematical concepts such as measurement, set theory, algebraic equations, weight comparison, social arithmetic, relations and functions, geometry, and probability. This study concludes that ethnomathematics serves as a bridge between mathematical theories and real-world applications. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of integrating ethnomathematics into formal education to provide students with contextual and meaningful learning experiences.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics is one method of learning mathematics that is expected to be another alternative that seeks to make students interested in learning mathematics. Besides being theoretical, ethnomathematics teaches how mathematics may be employed in real-world circumstances. This study aims to understand more about how mathematics is used in the production of traditional Sipirok woven fabrics. The author employed a qualitative research method in this study, and the data was gathered through observation, interviews, and recording. One of the weavers of Sipirok woven fabric provided the sample. According to the findings, there is mathematics in manufacturing Sipirok woven fabric, specifically in the loom used and woven fabric motif. Thus, ethnomathematics can support students' mathematics learning and aid in understanding the teacher's instruction. It is suggested that other researchers study Indonesian cultures that incorporate ethnomathematics, as many unexplored Indonesian cultures remain.
