Abstract

This study aims to evaluate and compare the investment risk levels of three primary financial instruments in Indonesia: the Indonesia Composite Index (IHSG), Bank Central Asia (BCA) with code BBCA stock, and gold. Using the Value at Risk (VaR) approach based on Monte Carlo simulation, the research integrates these assets into a unified risk assessment model, providing a more comprehensive perspective than prior studies that typically examine individual assets or use historical estimation methods. Monthly historical price data from April 2024 to March 2025 were obtained from the Indonesia Stock Exchange and the Central Bureau of Statistics. The analysis involved calculating asset returns, means, and standard deviations, followed by 10,000 Monte Carlo simulation iterations to generate potential future price paths and estimate losses under market uncertainty. The results, at a 95% confidence level, show that IHSG carries the highest investment risk, with a VaR of IDR 9,331.16, followed closely by BBCA stock at IDR 9,210.31. Gold exhibited the lowest risk level, with a VaR of IDR 6,896.86, confirming its role as a more stable and less volatile investment compared to equity-based assets. These findings highlight the reliability of gold as a defensive asset during turbulent market conditions. The application of Monte Carlo simulation effectively captures the non-normal distribution of returns and accommodates complex market behaviors, making it a robust tool for financial risk modeling. This research offers meaningful insights for investors, analysts, and academics in optimizing portfolio strategies and improving risk management decisions.

Abstract

Rice consumption in Indonesia is the 4th highest in the world, with an annual average of 35.3 million tonnes. Apart from that, domestic rice production is relatively low, so finding an optimal distribution pattern to meet Indonesia's food consumption needs is necessary. This research aims to find the best route for rice distribution using sequential insertion and nearest-neighbor methods. The aim is to compare the two methods to determine which is suitable for distributing rice. Apart from that, comparisons are made to find the distribution route with the shortest distance and fastest time. The research results show that the optimal travel distance using the sequential insertion method is t = 1, namely 519 Km with a travel time of 779 minutes. Meanwhile, the optimal travel distance using the nearest neighbor method at r = 1 is 506 km with a travel time of 535 minutes. Thus, this problem's nearest neighbor method performs better than sequential insertion.

Abstract

This study explores ethnomathematics in the architecture of the Portibi Temple in North Padang Lawas Regency to reveal the relationship between geometric concepts and the symbolic meaning of Hindu-Buddhist culture. A qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and documentation was used to identify mathematical elements in the temple structure. The results show the presence of a cube-shaped solid on the main body of the temple, symbolizing the stability of human life and the connection between the earth and the sky; a cylinder on the roof representing the continuity of life; beams on the stairs and the base of the temple as symbols of sturdiness; and a rectangular pyramid in the interior, reflecting the relationship between humans and the spiritual world. In addition, the rectangular and trapezoidal solid shapes emphasise the principles of proportionality and balance. These findings demonstrate that the geometric forms in the temple serve not only structural functions but are also rich in philosophical values. The implication is that Portibi Temple can be used as an ethnomathematics-based learning resource that links abstract concepts with the local cultural context, thereby making mathematics learning more concrete, meaningful, and fostering students' appreciation of cultural heritage.

Abstract

The increase in HIV/AIDS cases in North Sumatra Province requires accurate forecasting methods to support prevention and control programs. Accurate predictions of the number of cases will help stakeholders design more targeted interventions and allocate resources effectively. This study aims to compare the performance of the Chen Fuzzy Time Series method and the Runge-Kutta Fehlberg numerical method in forecasting the number of HIV/AIDS cases in North Sumatra Province. The data used are monthly HIV/AIDS case data obtained from the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office. The Chen Fuzzy Time Series method is applied to capture patterns in data that are uncertain and ambiguous, while the RKF method is used to solve the logistic growth model that represents the development of cases. Forecasting accuracy was evaluated using the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) metric. The results showed that the RKF method produced a lower MAPE value compared to the Chen Fuzzy Time Series method, indicating higher prediction accuracy. The RKF method provides more stable predictions for the next three months and is closer to the actual trend, while the Chen Fuzzy Time Series method shows slightly larger deviations but remains useful for imprecise data. In conclusion, both methods can be used for HIV/AIDS case forecasting, but the RKF method is proven to be superior in accuracy for the data used in this study.

Abstract

This study compares the performance of the Fuzzy Time Series (FTS) Cheng and Lee methods in forecasting the distribution, production, and sales of clean water at Perumda Tirta Silaupiasa, Asahan Regency. The research utilized monthly secondary data from January 2023 to April 2025. Data analysis was conducted using R-Studio software, and forecasting accuracy was evaluated through the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE). The results show that both methods achieved a high level of accuracy, with MAPE values below 3%. However, the Cheng method consistently outperformed the Lee method, recording MAPE values of 2.28% (distribution), 1.59% (production), and 1.63% (sales), while the Lee method produced slightly higher values of 2.45%, 1.83%, and 1.77% for the same variables. These findings demonstrate that the Cheng method is more adaptive in capturing fluctuations in clean water data, especially during periods of sudden changes. This research provides practical recommendations for improving clean water supply management in regions with dynamic operational conditions

Abstract

This research aims to optimize the distribution costs of 3 kg LPG at PT Irit Gas thru Vehicle Routing Problem modeling. Data for 2024 includes 11 points (1 depot, 10 customers). The cost matrix is formed using Dijkstra's Algorithm on a weighted graph constructed from Haversine distances thru a k-nearest neighbors approach, ensuring that the cost between location pairs reflects the shortest path on the network. Prim's algorithm was then used to build a Minimum Spanning Tree as the basis for distance-efficient customer clustering, which was subsequently cut according to the vehicle capacity limit of 560 tubes per trip, before the visit sequence was reordered based on the shortest distance. The results show three feasible routes: Route 1 (500 tubes) 11.08212 km, Route 2 (550 tubes) 28.11148 km, and Route 3 (480 tubes) 53.13001 km; total 92.32361 km. With an efficiency of 5 km/l and a diesel price of Rp6,800/l, the estimated fuel costs are Rp15,071.68; Rp38,231.61; and Rp72,256.81 respectively (total Rp125,560.11). The findings confirm that the Dijkstra Prim combination effectively produces short, connected, and capacity compliant routes, while also providing realistic operational cost estimates for distribution decision-making.

Abstract

The use of BRIMEN (BRI Document Management System) in digital document processing operations during internship activities at the Medan Regional Office of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. is the main focus of this article. The objective of this study is to understand how the BRIMEN system contributes to the storage, retrieval, and classification of documents, particularly in relation to credit document management. This system was introduced to address common issues found in manual archiving, such as limited storage space, difficulties in document retrieval, and the risk of errors in preserving clients’ physical records. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach through direct observation and active participation in daily workflows. The findings indicate that BRIMEN significantly improves operational efficiency by providing a more systematic and secure digitalization procedure for banking documents. The system not only reduces the risk of loss or damage to physical archives but also accelerates the process of data retrieval when required by work units. Through its classification and tracking features, BRIMEN ensures better consistency between digital data and physical documents, although several technical challenges remain, such as restricted access to storage rooms and difficulties in scanning older or non-standard documents. Overall, the results highlight the importance of implementing a well-structured digital document management system to support the smooth operation of modern banking institutions. BRIMEN represents a tangible step in BRI’s digital transformation, strengthening data security while simultaneously improving the quality of credit services delivered to customers. With continuous improvement, this system has the potential to serve as a model for digital document management that can be more widely adopted across Indonesia’s banking sector.
