Abstract

Immunization programs are one of the most effective public health interventions to prevent and reduce the incidence of infectious diseases. This study aims to analyze the effect of immunization programs on the reduction of infectious disease cases in the community. A quantitative method was employed using a descriptive and correlational analysis approach, based on secondary data from health department reports and records of immunization coverage and infectious disease cases over the past five years. The findings indicate a significant correlation between increased immunization coverage and decreased incidence of diseases such as measles, diphtheria, and hepatitis B. The discussion highlights disparities in immunization coverage between regions, the influence of social and educational factors, and implementation challenges in the field. The study concludes that although immunization is proven to be effective, its success relies heavily on supportive policies, community education, and adequate healthcare infrastructure. These findings provide important contributions to strengthening national immunization policies in a more equitable and sustainable manner.

Abstract

Texture analysis is a fundamental approach in image processing for identifying specific patterns or structures. One widely used method is the grey-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM), which computes the frequency of pixel value pairs at certain distances and angles. This study adapts the GLCM method for 1D electroencephalogram (EEG) signal analysis, focusing on extracting features such as contrast, energy, homogeneity, correlation, and entropy. EEG signals are normalized to the range 0–255, and the extracted features are classified using a support vector machine (SVM). Experimental results show that combining features across multiple distances (d=1 to 20) achieves classification accuracy of 78.8% for five classes (Z/O/N/F/S), 94.0% for three classes (O/F/S), and 94.3% for another three-class group (Z/N/F). The method shows strong performance for short to medium distances and fewer class combinations. However, performance declines when dealing with more complex class sets and longer distances, where texture features become less effective. The drop in accuracy for Z/O/N/F/S beyond d=5 underscores the challenges of maintaining feature robustness at extended distances. Despite this, GLCM remains a promising approach for EEG signal classification. Future work should focus on optimizing distance parameters and feature combinations to further enhance classification performance.

Abstract

Rice husk waste is an abundant agricultural byproduct in Karang Langit Village, Lamongan, but its utilization is still limited, posing a potential environmental problem. This community service program aims to modernize agricultural practices by utilizing rice husk as a hydroponic growing medium to support food security and promote a circular economy. The methods applied include community coordination, carbonization of rice husks, preparation of the hydroponic system, and both theoretical and practical hands-on training. Evaluation results show a significant increase in participants’ knowledge by 32%. A total of 85% of participants successfully prepared a viable rice-husk-based growing medium, and 75% were able to cultivate and harvest leafy vegetables in the trial phase. Additionally, a farmer group was formed and is committed to independently continuing hydroponic practices after the program’s conclusion. These results confirm that utilizing rice husk as a hydroponic medium not only enhances community skills and self-sufficiency but also opens new economic opportunities. This model is recommended for replication in other agricultural areas to support local food security and environmental sustainability.

Abstract

Abstract

Accurate measurement of lung function is essential for diagnosing and monitoring respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and cystic fibrosis. Traditional spirometry methods often face challenges related to accuracy and sensitivity, which can lead to misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the DF-Robot differential pressure sensor as a portable spirometry tool, focusing on key parameters including Forced Vital Capacity (FVC), Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 second (FEV1), and Peak Expiratory Flow (PEF). The research was conducted at the Surabaya Electromedical Engineering Department, utilizing a pre-experimental design with a single group. The DF-Robot sensor's output was compared against a Hans Rudolph 5530 Syringe Calibrator to determine its accuracy. Data collection involved three different tube sizes, with ten repetitions for each size using the calibrator, and five repetitions with human subjects to assess real-world applicability. Results indicated that the DF-Robot sensor demonstrated high accuracy, with the smallest tube size yielding a minimal error of 0.9%. In contrast, larger tube sizes resulted in significantly higher error rates, with the largest tube showing an error of 33%. The study concluded that the DF-Robot differential pressure sensor is a promising alternative for portable spirometry applications, providing reliable measurements of lung function parameters. The findings underscore the importance of sensor selection in spirometry, as theaccuracy of measurements directly impacts patient diagnosis and treatment. This research contributes valuable insights intothe development of portable spirometry devices, potentially enhancing the diagnostic capabilities for respiratory diseases andimproving patient outcomes in clinical practice. Future studies should explore further refinements in sensor technology andmethodologies to optimize spirometry accuracy and reliability.
