Abstract

Extreme weather incidents refer to high rainfall and strong winds have been speculated to be detrimental on rice production. However, researches on the local adaptation to their impact on rice production are limited especially on tropical region like Indonesia. A study was conducted in Pesawaran, West Lampung, North Lampung, and Bandar Lampung using time series data of 2000-2015 and ground checking during extreme weather and normal seasons and its implication on sustainable management. Data were evaluated using multivariate regressions. Results demonstrated that the impact of extreme weather on the reduction of rice production was weak, 0.92%. Shifting on rice production among swampy, irrigated, and dry lands at which covered area of 13.67%, 42.69% and 43.65%, respectively, minimized the impact of the extreme weather. During limited precipitation, irrigated and swamplands had 2.5-3.0 times cropping intensity. Conversely, during La-Nina with excess precipitation, cropping in irrigated and drylands increased by 20 and 58%, respectively. Moreover, the local government maintained annual production improvement by about 5% through expansion of irrigated land, high yielding varieties and inputs subsidies. Considering that incident of extreme weathers tended to occur more frequently, consequently, planting calender utilization and rice variety adapted should be implemented.

Abstract

History shows the long process of apple plants originating from subtropical regions adapting to Indonesia's tropical climate until its popularity is increasingly marginalized and replaced with other commodities, as evidenced by the decreasing land area, especially in Batu City. Indonesia. In developing and analyzing solutions based on the principles of sustainable development, an integrated and holistic approach is required. To understand problems and find solutions, we can use Systems dynamics. The purpose of this study is to obtain a policy scenario that encourages sustainable apple farming. Data is collected from the local government and BPS City or Province so that the selected variables follow the specific location. The system approach is used to identify needs, problem formulation, preparation of input-output diagrams, cause-effect diagrams and stock-flow diagrams. A series of scenarios is created and tested through simulation to understand the system's dynamic behavior better and obtain the desired output. The best scenario was chosen, namely by replanting 10% of old plant each year, using integrated agriculture with 3 female and 1 male brooders, reduction of land change with 50% success, Local economic development by integrating tourist ticket and hotels with 0,75 kg apple fruits also increasing health support for students

Abstract

Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) and its relatives (Garcinia hombroniana, Garcinia celebica, Garcinia forbesii, Garcinia malaccensis, Garcinia porecta, Garcinia subeliptica, Chalophylum inophylum) contain polyphenol compound. The polyphenol compound makes pure deoxyribose nucleic acid is difficult to reveal. The aim of this research was to find the deoxyribose nucleic acid purification method of mangosteen leaves and its relatives. The research was conducted from January to August 2015 at the Center of Horticultural Tropical Studies Laboratory, Bogor Agricultural University. The mangosteen leaves were isolated based on cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) buffer extraction added by 2X chloroform isoamyl alcohol (CIAA 24:1), 3X CIAA 24:1, and sliced gel purification using Fermentas kit extraction. The result showed that CTAB added by 2X CIAA was the best treatment for Garcinia mangostana L. and its relatives for purification of deoxyribose nucleic acid. This modified method produced an apparent amplified polymerase chain reaction using PKBT7 inter simple sequence repeat marker. It was applicable to evaluate genetic diversity interspecies.

Abstract

Ketahanan rebah varietas padi ditentukan berdasarkan indeks kerebahan IRRI (1988) yang terdiri dari : 0, 1, 3, 5, 7, dan 9. Nilai indeks 0 : sangat tahan rebah (tidak ada tanaman yang rebah), 1 : tahan rebah (tanaman rebah kurang dari 20%), 3 : agak tahan rebah (tanaman rebah 21 ̶ 40%), 5 : sedang (tanaman rebah 41 ̶ 60%), 7 : agak peka (tanaman rebah 61 ̶ 80%), dan 9 : peka (tanaman rebah lebih dari 80%). Evaluasi karakter kerebahan (Krb) tanaman padi dilakukan mengikuti Panduan Sistem Karakterisasi dan Evaluasi Tanaman Padi Kementan (2014). Kreteria dan metode evaluasi varietas padi terhadap ketahanan rebah tidak diukur untuk menghadapi kondisi cuaca ekstrim. Nilai indeks kerebahan berubah dengan terjadinya insiden cuaca ekstrim sehingga perlu dilakukan evaluasi terhadap kreteria ketahanan rebah suatu varietas bila akan ditanam di daerah yang rawan insiden cuaca ekstrim.

Abstract

Talas eddoe (Colocasia esculenta var antiquorum) atau talas Jepang merupakan tanaman yang prospektif dikembangkan di Indonesia. Informasi karakter tanaman talas pada berbagai agroekologi sangat penting sebagai dasar seleksi dan pemilihan lokasi dalam program pemuliaan tanaman. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui korelasi antar karakter pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman talas Jepang yang ditanam pada tiga agroekologi yang berbeda. Percobaan dilaksanakan pada tahun 2018 sampai 2019 di Tangerang Selatan, Bogor dan Subang menggunakan sepuluh genotipe talas eddoe. Hasil penelitan menunjukkan bahwa panjang daun, panjang petiol dan panjang pelepah antargenotipe memiliki perbedaan yang nyata. Lokasi penanaman juga berpengaruh nyata terhadap semua karakter pertumbuhan dan hasil. Genotipe dan lokasi berinteraksi nyata terhadap panjang daun, petiol total, rentang tanaman, tinggi tanaman, panjang dan berat cormus. Karakter pertumbuhan dan hasil selalu berkorelasi erat di tiga lokasi, sedangkan korelasi karakter pertumbuhan dengan karakter hasil talas berbeda di tiap agroekologi (r=0,05). Perbedaan lingkungan tumbuh sangat berpengaruh terhadap nilai dan keeratan korelasi karakter pertumbuhan dengan hasil, sehingga upaya peningkatan hasil perlu memperhatikan agroekologi yang sesuai bagi pertumbuhan tanaman talas.

Abstract

Underground corm of Amorphophallus muelleri Blume contained glucomannan, a raw material widely used in beverage, food and medicinal industries. In Indonesia, A. muelleri is grown under intercropping system, however, average corm production was considered low. The low productivity could be related to the low input of chemical fertilizers. Therefore, the effects of NPK fertilizers and methods of application on A. muelleri productivity were evaluated in the present study for intercropping system. Two experiments were conducted at Leuwikopo Experimental Farm, Bogor, Indonesia from 2010-2012 under canopy of coffee trees. First experiment was conducted using four levels of N, P, and K applications, i.e., N:P2O5:K2O at the rate 0:0:0, 100:60:80, 125:60:100 and 150:60:120 kg ha-1. In second experiment, N:P2O5:K2O fertilizers at the rate of 100:60:80 were applied by conventional (solid) and liquefied. Results of first experiment showed that application of N, P and K at rate of 100 kg, 60 kg, and 80 kg ha-1 produced fresh corm weight 636.3±91.7 g per plant or increased by 63% higher than control. However, higher rate of NPK application did not increase corm yield, possibly due to the occurrence of leaf discoloration. Higher rates of NPK also delayed harvest time 1 to 2 weeks compared with control and caused wide variation of corm size. Thus, excess application of NPK should be avoided for high productivity of A. muelleri. Second experiment showed that there was no significant different among methods of application on fresh corm weight, i.e., 413 g and 396 g from conventional and liquefied applications, respectively. These experiments conclude that application of NPK is important to enhance A. muelleri production in intercropping system.

Abstract

Kualitas beras adalah hal penting yang dipertimbangkan oleh konsumen ketika membeli beras. Kualitas meliputi beberapa aspek, antara lain kualitas mutu giling dan mutu tanak. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui kualitas beras yang dihasilkan oleh padi aromatik pada perlakuan lima taraf dosis pupuk nitrogen (N). Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok petak terbagi untuk menguji pengaruh dosis dan varietas. Petak utama adalah pupuk nitrogen pada berbagai dosis, yaitu: 0, 45, 90, 135 dan 180 kg N ha-1, dan anak petak adalah dua varietas padi aromatik yaitu Sigupai Abdya (lokal Aceh) dan Inpari 23 Bantul (unggul nasional). Kualitas beras aromatik (mutu giling dan mutu tanak) pada penelitian ini tidak dipengaruhi oleh dosis pupuk nitrogen, tetapi hanya dipengaruhi oleh varietas. Berdasarkan mutu giling, varietas Sigupai Abdya memiliki rendemen beras giling dan beras kepala lebih tinggi serta persentase beras menir lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan varietas Inpari 23 Bantul. Berdasarkan mutu tanak, varietas Inpari 23 Bantul memiliki kandungan amilosa yang rendah, sedangkan waktu layak makan nasi lebih lama diperoleh pada varietas Sigupai Abdya.

Abstract

Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides) dikenal di Indonesia sebagai akar wangi bahan baku minyak atsiri; adalah anggota keluarga Poaceae berupa rumput tahunan. Vetiver memiliki perakaran dalam sehingga banyak digunakan sebagai penguat lereng. Vetiver termasuk toleran garam, tetapi pemanfaatannya untuk penguat pantai di Indonesia masih jarang dikaji. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan evaluasi pertumbuhan vetiver sebagai penahan abrasi dengan tipologi gelombang besar di tiga jenis pantai yakni Wonokerto kulon, Kabupaten Pekalongan-Jawa Tengah; Batu Tampih, Kabupaten Tabanan-Bali; dan Congot, Kabupaten Kulon Progo - Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Rumput vetiver ditanam bertahap pada Oktober 2014-Agustus 2016 sebagai bagian dari teknologi eco-hybrid. Evaluasi pertumbuhan dilakukan sejak ditanam hingga November 2017. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa vetiver tumbuh dengan baik pada enam bulan pertama di semua lokasi; yang mencerminkan vetiver cocok sebagai tanaman pantai. Vetiver mampu bertahan hingga November 2017 di pantai Batu Tampih dan pantai Wonokerto kulon dengan tingkat kerusakan 0-25% akibat gelombang pasang. Di pantai Congot seluruh vetiver mati tercerabut karena hantaman gelombang besar pada pertengahan 2016. Dengan demikian, keberhasilan penggunaan vetiver ditentukan oleh tingkat gelombang pasang. Penggunaan vetiver sebagai penguat pantai kemungkinan besar akan sukses pada pantai dengan gelombang kecil hingga sedang, tetapi hal tersebut perlu dikaji lebih lanjut.

Abstract

Taro is one of the leading commodities in Situ Gede village. Situ Gede, an urban village, is one of Bogor City's villages, which has potential as an agrotourism region. The potential of Situ Gede village in support of the agrotourism program has never been documented, so the aim of this activity is to examine the potential of Situ Gede village in supporting agrotourism. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with quantitative instruments. Based on the study results, farmers are the principal livelihood of the Situ Gede area. With the population distribution at the productive age of 25-39 years, the area of land used for agriculture is 46.32 per cent. The sum of taro production in Situ Gede village gives total production in Bogor City of 34%. Keywords: agrotourism, Situ Gede Village, taro

Abstract

Yam bean is important product in Bogor for fresh consumption and fermented food. However, evaluation on yam bean production is rare in Bogor. The application of good cultivation techniques is important in order to produce optimal yield to meet market demands. The study aimed to evaluate the cultivation system applied by farmers in Situgede Village, Bogor, West Java. Data were collected through interviews, field observations, and literature review. Based on interviews and field observations, there were variation among farmers in plant spacing, land area, type of fertilizer used, and productivity. Farmers still faced lack of skill on good cultivation techniques in order to obtain optimum productivity, as well as lack of information from experts in the field on cultivation method and plant diseases so that determined the effectiveness in yam cultivation.
